: How much protein is too much protein?

So here's my question. How much protein is too much to intake in one serving. I'm 6'0 and weigh around 175. I eat 6 meals a day that each consist of around 30-40 grams of protein. 3 of them are chocolate whey shakes. This puts me at about 180-240 grams a day. I really want to put on size but I don't want to overload on how much protein I intake at once because I know my body can only process so much.

In the morning I make a shake with 6 egg whites(around 30-40 grams I guess) 1 cup skim milk (8 grams) one banana and a package of quaker fruit oatmeal. What I want to know is if I added a serving of strawberry whey (23 grams) would this (53-63 grams) be too much protein to take at once or would it be a great start to my day.

Thanks.

Stick w/ the 6 whites. You really don't want to take in more then 50 grams per meal.

It all depends..."naturally" I think the human body will absorb around 30g per meal spaced about 2 1/2 hours apart...whatever it doesn't use will be stored as fat...to much and it can be passed into the intestine...undigested...getting trapped...potentially causing Gastritis...of course this is under an extreme situation but it can happen...did to a friend of mine...so bad that he was bed ridden...

It also depends on how much you work out, I lift weights in the morning and cardio & abs at night. So I have about 100grams of protein a meal and about 400-500 calories, I drink about 2 gallons water if not more a day. It helps to flush out the extra protein from your system so it doesn't collect on your kidney's.

a good rule of thumb is 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight.divided in small meals through the day.
