Got a question for you guys since you all seem to know your stuff. Lately, I have been moving up in weight very quickly on my bicep workouts... but now i have hit a wall but the weight is not the problem. I am starting to get a lot of pain in the top portions of my forearms when doing cambered preacher curls. At the bottom of my rep, just before pulling the bar back up towards my chest I get this intense pain from my wrists to just before my elbows. Like I said I have complete control of the weight but i am being restricted by this pain... What do you think is the problem here? could it be a form issue or maybe a need for more forearm strength? Any help would be apprecitated...

Does this only occur during preacher curls? Does this occur in every grrip width? Is the pain dull or shooting?

well it started with the preacher curls and is now bleeding in to other bicep excercises that reproduce the same motion. the pain is definatly shooting, it goes away as soon as the stress is off of my forearms

doesn't sound like standard forearm fatigue then. Sounds like you have a strain or something. I'd take it easy for a while if I were you. stop as soon as it hurts.

You have forearm splints. I had them in college. They are the same as shin splints. The muscle is tearing off the bone. You need to not do preacher curls. Don't do anything that turns you wrists.

yah i used to get them frequently too.. like everyone else said. lay off the preachers for a while, do some more forearm curls front and back, then start working the preachers back into your routine. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I used to have the same problem. I just quit preacher curls for awhile and I also bought workout gloves that have wrist wraps to keep my wrists straight and tight while I curl. It makes a huge difference. Also, try working out your forearms more to strengthen them up so you don't strain them by trying to make them keep up with your bi's.
