I was looking at getting the Total gym you know that one that chuck norris advertises, but when i went looking for one on e-bay, they have a Total Trainer which is a knock off of the total Gym. Now Does anyone here own either one of these two machines and can tell me the Benefits/disadvantages of them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I'm don't have much info on those either.
I use these now and I used them all the time when I was training people at their homes. These along with an incline bench, gym ball and a few other nick nacks was all I ever needed for a decent home workout. Still can't take place of a gym though.
Weights can be changed from 5 lbs up to 90 lbs depending on the set you buy.

The total gym company makes about 5-6 different models. They range anywhere from about $200-$2000 for the institutional model. They are decent for working those little muscle groups but not much else. The steel is pretty thin and isnt what I would want to be lifting a lot of weight on anyway. The pulleys are small and the cables are weak. The upholstry will rip within the first year if you use it and looks like shit because you have to basically put your feet all over it. Its one of those things that you would be better off getting dumbells. The powerblocks above from 5-85 are great. Dont pay more than $475 for the set though. Retail is $550. One of the last american made dumbell companies too.

Why dont you just buy yourself a power rack and a barbell set. With that you can do just about anything. Add in a dumbell set like the intellbells and you wont ever want to step foot in a gym again. Take a look at a tpr265 from tuffstuff.net

WHAT!!!!!!!! Cancel you gym membership. No home gym, unless you are rich and buy it all, could be better than a gym. If your gym is not better than your gym just sux. Find a good gym. My gym has everything I could ever want for 30 bucks a month.

Yeah, I had a small corporate gym that I was a trainer at for a while. It was about a 50' by 50' room and had about 20 grand in equipment in there, about 6 on weight machines. I still went to Golds when I wanted a great workout. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i do it at home...for some reason i just cant concentrate when arond other people...especially at a gym if there was any ladys there id just stare instead of workout..all you need is a powerrack bench and some dumbells...you really dont need any of the fancy equipment....free weights are better aNYWAY
