i'd kinda like to see how many locals drop in on the GDC.
ive tried to go through the "user" list but.. 28k users is lot.
the search wont do user locations either. so im forced to do this post to
find you all..
If you could just post where you hang/ride/when/etc that be huge!
i'd really like to find more "riders" in my area.
my crew has kinda turned into a "hangout" rather then ride.
not that theres anything wrong with that..............

Well it all comes down to what you can spend... i hate saying that but it is...
Most all the local dealers take trade in's they are a good place to start.. and keep an eye in the "tradingTimes" they move alot of bikes..
i'll also ask around.

Horarik 03-05-2004, 08:21 AM harry, my only prob i just found out is that if i finance i have to have full coverage and i odn tknow if i can afford that or not. I also dont have a bike to trade in. So i guess i will call monday and see how bad they gonna rape me. Otherwise i was looking to spend like 5 grand. I know leo's south has a 2002 gsx-r 750 for like 6 grand, but i cant afford it. Where else do they sell suzuki's around twin cities?? PLUS the fact my parents wont let me bring it home so i have to move out and park it at my apartment, or i guess i could try to find a buddy to let me park it there. GRRRRR I'm only 19 and i live at home but if i move out i wont be able to spend as much......
lol sorry for the life story,

don't buy from leo's.. those guys are bitches.. go buy from tousley, orrr the hitching post, or moto primo.. anywhere BUT leo's.. hell, if you don't want to drive to tousley, give me your address, and i'll drive you there and you can talk to my guy up there.. he'll take good care of you..
i got a chance to go out and fire up one of my bikes yesterday.. god i miss riding.. but yeh harry, we'll all need to ride again. maybe we could get everyone together and cruise the '94's.. do like 494w/n to 694e, then cheat and take 35e south :O hehe.. but i'd think for our first big cruise, we should choose somewhere public like that in case of emergancy.. just so that we all get used to each other's riding styles.. just my 2c
by the way, you still want my 400? or are you intereseted in it at all?
Horarik 03-15-2004, 03:42 AM Yeah, i didnt like leo's to much. Me and my budies went up to 2 hitching posts this past weekend and they were pretty cool. Where is this tousley u speak of?? I need another good road trip. We just look at the address and go driving aorund till we find it. We found the 2nd hitching post on accident cause i missed the exit i thought we were sposed to take. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I wanna ride with you guys this year but i dont think i be able to keep up so maybe next year.
haryhotrod 03-15-2004, 04:03 AM I interested but, have a few things i need to do before picking up another toy~~!~~
But i'll keep asking around and see if i can find someone to pick it up sooner from you~!~
You ever make it down to Dakota Tech track days?? i know a bunch of those boys like new and rare toys~!~
What are you looking to get out of it now?
As for the Road trip, if your not comfy with who's riding next to you just fall back in the pack.... As for your idea of the 94's thats alot of straights, even if we do EVERY clover, still alot of straight lines for me(and AALOOOTT more boys with badges(not that we ever do anything naughty))... A buddy claims to have found a Curvy ride 85% of the ride to duluth from Mpls. I plan on driving it sometime this week and let you know what i think...
Harry
Ps...
I know there are more of us from Minnesota on Gixxer What YOU SHY? im not asking for your name or social#'s lol POST UP PUNKS~!~
RIDE THIS~!~

haryhotrod 03-15-2004, 05:22 AM Hey G1xx3r600 you been riding long? what would you think about having a
Rare Gsxr400? with a bit of tuning thats a Quick machine..
Horarik 03-15-2004, 06:30 AM Nah havent ever riden. Never heard of it. I think i'll stick with the 600 that i kinda know about. Thanks tho.
But maybe if it were cheap, then i could learn to ride on it.

Hey u bastid http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Still looking? I second whoever said to stay away from Leo's. They are a bunch of mofos, but I bought a $4 fairing bot from them this weekend that i found at Ace Hardware for 10 cents. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif Ahhhh.....stay away from stealerships period!! Try to buy from private parties, like me http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Horarik 03-15-2004, 09:23 PM Why all the name calling?? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I tried going to the bank to get a loan and they said no. So i was just gonna see if i could get one from dealership. But it seems they gonna rape me. So i work the next 5 days for 60 hours. Then on my days off i gonna try the minnesota credit union.
haryhotrod 03-16-2004, 09:08 AM Well, the 400 is a great bike. Not nearly as quick as a 6 but A Super Bike
to learn on~!~
Just something to think about..
heres a few pics of the bike Totoro's bike... ive seen it up close and personal and driven it.. Its a Great bike~!~(plus if you asked me a great investment, their very rare state side!)
sorry its a link but the pics are here:
http://www.bikepics.com/suzuki/gsxr400/88/pics.asp
Plus i'll bet if you pm Totoro he might let you meet up with him and you can touch it~!~
thats my 2cents.. Either Gixxer is a great first bike!
Just to throw out another Place to shop a dealership try "Cities Edge" in Chaska
(952)368-3323, And like most dealerships, they deal better in person, Ask for Mike... Ever sense ive found them they've gotten all my business in minnesota.
harry
Horarik 03-16-2004, 11:38 AM Thanks guys for all ur help. I got 2 more places to check out on my 4 days of!! U guys ROCK!! Me and my buddy's (2) (also lookign for gixxers) look foreword to hanging and riding with you guys.
totoro001 03-17-2004, 02:32 PM haha.. all of those are true, and my 400 will toss an SV alll over the place.. it's been proven..
harry: no, i havn't had a chacne to get out to DCTC yet. i would like to do so once it gets warm. it'll be in cycletrader next week (as well on cycletrader.com), and i'll be taking it to 'first thursday' becuase those guys like alllll kinds of old weird shit.
yeh, the 94's are pretty straight, but they're good for traffic surfing, unless by a 'badge' you mean you're an officer of the law.. in which case i mean.. ahh.. what traffic surfing? wha? i ah... hey look over there --> http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif hehe
G1xx3r 600: if you do want to check it out, you're more than welcome to, if not, no pressure. however if you havn't ridden yet, and you're too ignorant to look through allll the other posts on the board about 'should i get a gixxer 6 for my first bike', let me just tell you this. i learned to ride for real last year, and my friend started out at about the same time as me. i started out on a cruiser, and he got a 6. i can out-corner him and out-ride him. and not becuase he's dumb (and no offence grant, much love), he's one of the quickest people i know.. it's just becuase when you learn on a bigger bore bike, they're much less forgiving. but hey, it's your $, do with it what you will.. also, have you checked on isnurance? if you get a loan (or you are making payments on a bike), you'll have to get full coverage.. and for someone under 25, that's going to run you a MINIMUM of around 2000 every 6 months.. just something to keep in mind.. burger king doesn't pay THAT well http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
totoro001 03-17-2004, 02:34 PM oh.. on a side note, i'll probably be firing up the 400 tomorrow.. taking it out of storage and what not.. if you want G1xx3r 600, you're more than welcome to give me a call (952 994 5465) and come over and see it.. if nothing else, it'll just be time to hang out and BS.. no biggie.. i live in lakeville (which i'm sure you know where that is since you're in AV).. i could invite over 'eastsidesoulja' aka grant, and we could all hang out and talk bikes..
Horarik 03-17-2004, 07:08 PM Im working 60+ hours this week. I kinda feel like sleeping. But i got sund thru wed off so maybe i'll come by and check it out one of them days.
Yeah i know not to get a gixxer 6 for a first bike. But for the first year with a 600 i prob wont drive to hard. I dont plan on racing for a while or even riding with you guys for atleast year. But if i dont get a gixxer-600 i wont be able to get one for a few years. I spend all my hard earned cash on a learner bike and wont be able to buy a 600.
I easily make enought to pay for the insurance on a bike. And i plan on buying it straight up no financing so i can take off the insurance over the winter.
I guess i will just have to see what happends. Taking a few courses, and going from there.
But just curious, how much u selling 400 for??

LOL THATS HILARIOUS!!!!
haryhotrod 03-18-2004, 08:15 AM Just so you know.... As far as the insurance, its most companys policy to make you pay for a Full year(mostly they have you make all your payments upfront or 3 payments during the summer), not saying you cant drop it. but then the next year your stuck writing a new policy and you dont get any brownie points with them, like you would if you carried a policy for the whole winter(and with most new policys you end up paying more then you would have have saved if you carried it over the winter)... just something my Insurance guy told me...
harry
ps
i have a very good friend thats a "badge" and minnesota is spending ALOT of money this year on sport bike "racing" they are also upping the fines if your caught "racing". this term includes traffic surfing...
totoro001 03-18-2004, 09:07 AM yeh, they're doing a shitton to get rid of ANY form of racing.. bah..
gixxer6: i'm asking 2500ish for it.. and even though you say you don't wnat to 'race' it the first year you have it, it's not that which will give you the problem. i dunno if you've ever ridden a cruiser, or a dirt bike, or anything like that.. but a sportbike is a totally different animal. if you're cruising along and you hit a bump, and you're not used to it, you could blip the throttle and flip the bike on top of yourself.. and in all honesty, i don't give a damn about your personal health and all that jazz.. i believe firmly in natural selection and if you're doing something stupid and out of your skill level you deserve to get hurt.. what I care about is my insurance rates going up becuase some people think that they're better than everyone else and they don't need to go through the steps to learn everything before they go out and do something stupid..
Horarik 03-18-2004, 12:34 PM u sound like a jerk http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif
lol j/p man, i guess i can understand.
and for 2,500 that leaves me with enought for gear and insurance. Gonna have to think bout it. Prob a VERY good idea. Only prob is i dont know crap bout bikes so what if it breaks?? i gotta pay a mechanic to fix it.......
If you want i dont work sund-wed so maybe we could get a few guys together and grab something to eat, or just hang out......
totoro001 03-18-2004, 03:34 PM that works man.. and i am kind of a jerk.. don't get me wrong, i don't have anything against you personally.. i just hate people that think they're special when it comes to learning to ride bikes.. i don't care what your experience is, if you've never ridden a real motorcycle before, your first bike shouldn't be a 600cc super sport.
but yeh, hanging out sounds cool.. just name a time and let me know.. i usually work until 3ish on the weekdays.. weekends i have off.
if it breaks, you just need to figure out what is broken, then order the part. you'll have to either learn the mechanical bits on your own, or take it to a mechanic.. but that's nothing different than if you'd have a 600 or something like that.. i mean if you don't know what you're doing, you'll have to pay to have it fixed anyways.. *shrugs*

61ache 03-18-2004, 04:43 PM The idea of meeting up at Williams one night, sounds like a cool idear. Get to put some faces to the names. Fars as cruising the 94's never liked it much. Went to a few meets at the SA off Lousianna, and thought it was pretty lame. I'm more into cruising what corners I can find around Still water, Wisconsin, crap like that. Not a very aggressive rider though...so...
Horarik 03-18-2004, 07:13 PM Talked to my parents. I told them the idea of the 400 cause then i would be sitting on it as i would be sitting on the 600. My dad had a friend offer a '92 600 yamaha seka? so we kinda i guess checking that out too. But i kind alike the idea of your 400 since i will be on it like the 600.
haryhotrod 03-19-2004, 12:39 PM Well, anyone that wants to meetup At williams post up~!~ Plus, let me know what nites work.
Thursday nites are 2.4.1's and Friday sat nites can be a zoo, but LOTS of tail~~!~~
let me know......
G1xx3 600, do your self a HUGE favor. Sit on both rides (if possible) and unless your dad is going to pony up some money make your own choice. But Both are good starter bikes(my opion aside i'd like to see you on the gsxr400,plus in a year id bewilling to buy it off you)...lol
harry
PS
as of TONIGHT im driving down to recover my baby from Phoenix~!~ PARTY!
Horarik 03-19-2004, 04:14 PM I'd be up for meeting with you guys. But id have to take my car. Only problem is im only 19 so i cant drink.
Harry, Thanks for the advice. And im scared too cause i think ur in my mind i was only planning on having the "starter" bike for a year, and then selling it for a new gixxer. Since i will be working 60 hours everyother week and 46 on the other week. I should have enough money. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
*im signing up for the msf this weekend* http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
totoro001 03-19-2004, 04:47 PM like i said man, just call me and i'll let you come take a seat on her.. i've already gotten 2 other offers for people to come look at the bike and it's not in cycletrader yet.. so you might not want to drag your feet toooooo much
00Gixxer6 03-20-2004, 05:38 PM G1xx3r,
My buddy (one of our friendly local popo) is selling his '98 Red GSX600F Katanta with 8,900 miles. He needs money asap, so he is willing to talk the talk talk walk...whatever http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

totoro001 04-07-2004, 08:22 AM haha... yayyy forum rollbacks
Horarik 04-07-2004, 09:48 AM WTF happened?? ive never seen that happen in any forum i talk in........
BTW i bought the ninja for 2 grand. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif Pretty nice bike, my dad took it for a ride yesterday. We all thought he dumped it cause he was gone for so long. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif But when he finaly got back we realized the plates were expired and i reminded him of the bike not having insurance........ http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
^----Great story eh??
Luttersj 04-07-2004, 10:18 AM yeah, no doubt. I finally found this post yesterday, left a message, then come back today and it's gone! Just my luck...

Luttersj 04-07-2004, 12:53 PM weather permitting, I plan on going to both days of the BIR event. The support classes are just as good as the SBK class so I'd like to see them all. Well, maybe not the Formula Extreme class. It's a cool idea (600cc superbikes) but there's just not enough competition. Who will win, Duhamel on the Honda, Bostrom on the Honda or Zemke on the Honda? Stupid.
I'll be at a few DCTCs but I have no idea which ones yet.
I know Edge is having a track day at BIR. Track Addix and Edge both have dates at MAM (near Omaha).
I know last summer, the Yahoo boys from town rented out DCTC but I don't know if they plan on doing that again this year or not.
Horarik 04-07-2004, 07:36 PM Let me know when it is and stuff. Sound interesting but i have never gone.
Luttersj 04-07-2004, 10:53 PM check it out for yourself: http://www.ridingcourse.com/

Hey, if you're up for a drive, I totally suggest Larson's Cycle in Cambridge... and while your up there you can check out Dennis Kirk. Larson's have been awesome both times I've been up there to purchase bikes. Both bikes have been sold at well under the average going price for anything in the cities. For example: My '01 giixxer 1k ~ Leo's wanted 1100 for it, the Hitching post wanted like 10,600 and Larsons was willing to sell it for 9800 and change. Larson's has been awesome to all of my friends looking for bikes and I highly recommend them. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Luttersj 04-25-2004, 12:04 AM are you teaching yourself how to shoot or are you taking advice from someone who knows? I know they offer community ed classes for that in my area. I've never done it though. I thought about it but just never got around to it. I've just got a starter Nikon 35mm SLR camera. It's a really good camera for the price but it's got so many more options on it than I know what to do with. I think it's be cool to know how to use it. Once you get everything figured out, I'll let you teach me the finer points!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bounce.gif

MNGixxer 05-02-2004, 09:07 AM Hi guys,
I just bought a 93 GSXR 750 yesterday and will be picking it up on Wendsday. I live near BIR so if anyone wants to get together I know some sweet roads in the area, I don't ride as fast as I used to but I still kick it up every now and then. Who's coming up for the AMA race?
Best regards,
Kurt.

so if anyone has a few pics will ya share?
harry
Luttersj 05-05-2004, 12:28 PM Harry, hop over to SB.WS for pics from BIR and DCTC from the weekend. One of our guys did pretty good on an F4i.
MNGixxer (Kurt), first of all, welcome! Second, yeah, i plan on attending the AMA event at BIR this summer. I've been to the Superbike race for the last 3 summers. But with all the new classes this year, I just might have to come up on Saturday and Sunday. Weather permitting of course...
MNGixxer 05-05-2004, 09:18 PM I've been to all of the AMA races at BIR since 91 and almost stopped there tonight as they have started their wendsday night street drags, but I just picked up my bike and I want to get a little more used to it before I hit the strip. As a side note does anyone know how I can make this bike just a little more comfortable? I rode it up from the cities and after about 2 hours my legs were killing me. I know that a Gixxer is not meant to be a long distance bike by any means but if there is anything I can do I would like to try it.
Thanks,
Kurt.
haryhotrod 05-06-2004, 01:05 AM come on.. please.. the Gixxer is the best rocket for any kinda road trip~!~
You just need to build up YOUR endurance~!~
i pulled off a trip to phoenix on my Gix~!~ My Trip~!~ (http://www.gixxer.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=726670&page=4&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)
you'll just need to ride more to get yourself use to it!
harry
MNGixxer 05-06-2004, 06:55 AM I know all about riders endurance as I used to be a test driver for Arctic Cat. The first 9 months I had the job I had over 20,000 miles under my belt and that was just on the snowmobiles. I am sure that I will get used to it after awhile but a little help wouldn't hurt.
As a side note when I was up at Arctic Cat we were testing some watercraft with GSXR 750 and 1100 engines in them in preparation for the upcoming emmisions at the time (1996), they worked out pretty well but they were very heavy and changing the oil was a pain.
Kurt.
haryhotrod 05-06-2004, 10:01 AM well, ive heard moving your pegs on your 93 makes a huge diff. the guy i got that info from is 5-10 32inseam(dont know why he told me but he did) he went 3/4in up 1 1/4 back he made them him self. but claims there are kits out there. he also has a corbin seat.He rides a 95 750.

MNGixxer 05-17-2004, 06:16 AM The race is on the 5th and 6th of June. We plan on leaving early saturday morning and arriving there about noon, it looks to be about a 6-7 hour trip from up here in Brainerd, my knees hurt just thinking about it. I'd like to leave friday afternoon but a couple of guys that are going can't get off work.
Let me if you are interested.
Kurt.
missbehavin 05-17-2004, 11:38 AM I've got a couple names of bike mechanics... but they do generally work on harleys (imagine that a harley needing work) if you want pm me and i'll get you there names if you're still interested.

Sopfu 05-18-2004, 04:19 PM Does anyone around the cities have a fork spring compressor that I could rent from them? They are so expensive, but still cheaper than paying someone else to do the work, and it's not like I will use it too often anyways...
Thanks,
Sean
Luttersj 05-18-2004, 09:01 PM I don't have one or know anyone who does. Well, not good enough to ask them that. I could get you the name of a guy in Blaine (I think) who works real cheap. I've never been to him, but some others have.
missbehavin 05-19-2004, 10:25 AM Sean-
If you don't get one from one of the guys on here try crown rental or caterpillar. They will carry specialized tools like that.

Look at a lot of houses. We made the mistake of buying the first house that we liked. There's nothing wrong with the house really, but it's just the little things. Small closets, 1 bathroom, not much of an entry way, etc. It's plenty liveable even for a larger family (heck my neighbors raised 13 kids in there house and it's almost identical to mine: 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom).
But just take your time and explore different things. Don't buy the first thing you see. Also, as stupid and boring as this sounds, turn on TLC. They've got some pretty good shows on there abot house hunting (I think it's called House Hunters). There's also one on tips for selling a house (not sure on the name) and you could pick up a few tricks that people use to make it look OK on the surface.
Oh, and if you don't know much about houses or know anyone who does, have an inspector come and look at it. Walk through with him/her during their inspection and you'll learn tons of stuff to look for.

Thanks for your input. I am currently in the process of getting a pre-appoval for a mortage http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif Looks like its painful as hell. If you don't mind answering....how much can I expect in fees through out the whole process? I guess i will find out soon anyways by bending over with a tube of KY jelly http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
TIA http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
Luttersj 06-07-2004, 02:52 PM man, I don't remember what the fees were. I want to say it was a few thousand dollars though. By the time to pay the title search, realtor, the person getting you approved, etc it adds up. But it's worth it! I've been here for 4 years and already my house is worth $40,000 more than when I bought it. Show me a mutual fund that can do that. Of course when I sell this one, all of the other houses have gone up by the same amount so really I'll break even, but I don't like to look at that side of the equation!
It's definetly worth the hassle.

Sopfu 06-08-2004, 03:27 PM Don't you have enough bikes already angryinch?
MNGixxer 06-09-2004, 11:56 AM Suzuki, Honda and Ducati have been testing at BIR yesterday and today http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and I got to watch for free. My wife works at the track and we carpool to our jobs and around 10:00 yesterday morning she sent me a message on my cell phone that Ducati, Suzuki and Honda were there so when I picked her up I got to watch them dice it up for a while. It was pretty cool getting to see them in action with hardly anybody else around, they were going at it pretty hard but they all seemed pretty equal. It was scheduled as a Michelin tire test but if I remember right they aren't sponsored by Michelin ( I could be wrong as I don't keep that close of a eye on tire sponorships). It was a real blast, I can't wait until the races which are two weeks away and counting.
Keep the rubber side down,
Kurt
Luttersj 06-09-2004, 11:38 PM what, no pictures, Kurt?!
The Ducati of Eric Bostrom is sponsored by Michelin. I know there's a few others scattered thoughout the field that are on them too.
Who's there from Honda and Suzuki? If not the names, can you get the numbers?
MNGixxer 06-10-2004, 12:00 AM I didn't have time to grab the camera but there was a Suzuki trailer but not the Honda one. I am not fimilar with who has what number except for Duhamel and I did not see him there. I need to start paying more attention to the bike racing secene, I spend too much time following Formula one and Nascar Nextel Cup.
Luttersj 06-10-2004, 01:49 AM well, I did some digging around and found out who rides Michelin tires in the AMA series:
I only picked the names that I recognized. There's actually quite a few privateers.
600 Supersport
Steve Rapp - Suzuki
Jessica Zalusky - Suzuki
600 Formula Extreme
Vincent Haskovec - Suzuki
1000 Superstock
Vincent Haskovec - Suzuki
Steve Rapp - Suzuki
Jessica Zalusky - Suzuki
Superbike
Eric Bostrom - Ducati
Steve Rapp - Suzuki
Like I said, I didn't list them all. I'm sure there's one or two Hondas running on Michelins. That is if it's a Michelin test.
angryinch 06-10-2004, 07:15 AM No just have one those are my former bikes. Wish I still had the blk/slvr GSXR 1100 though http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif
