hey, i plan to get a bike pretty soon and i had 2..well 2 1/2 choices in mind, the SV650s, the gixxer 600, or an R6...im a new rider and i was wondering what will be a better bike, im thinking the sv because of the initial lower cost of the bike, plus the lower insurance (i can always get full farings later right?) but im a suzuki fan (the R6 was a referal from my boss) and have been reading some good things about the SV650s...well let me know! =) also a color suggestion is nice! haha

have you ever ridden before?
i'd stay away from anything w/ fairings for a first ride. R6 or the sixxer aren't ideal starter bikes. pure-bred race bikes never are, never will be.

Get a used SV and learn on it for a year then upgrade if you feel that it's necessary...you will be surprised how good the little twin really is!

I would say go for the SV, very good bikes and are comfy as hell. Also if you get a GSXR or R6 later you can turn the SV into a real nice track only bike for cheap.

The smart thing to do would be to go with the SV. That's what i did last year, and i have no regrets whatsoever,it has more than enough power to have fun with once your skills improve. And although i shouldn't of bought a new one, for fear of dropping it,i rode all summer last year without any mishaps whatsoever. Plus the fairings are just killer for the bike.

Hey Sneeez, Which mody is that? and what all did you buy? did you just have to get the lower fairing and thats it? It looks great. Also how hard is it to install?

Ya, what Klipsch said, that's just the Suzuki lower fairing that any Suzuki dealer can get for you. Unfortunately that's not my bike, since i have yet to buy the fairings myself, but spring is around teh corner and i should pick them up before the riding season starts !! As for the Install, apparently it's quite easy, just simple tools needed and and 1-2 hours of your time !!
