IMO i dont think it really matters. I always eat whatever i feel like for that day, chicken/steak/fish/etc. Just choose lean meats and you'll be ok.

red meat has testosterone and growth building chemicals in it and is a great source for building muscle but also contains bad stuff like high saturated fat. That's why body builders don't eat it as a staple.

Chicken is cheaper, plenty of protein and healthier for you in the long run. It's more versatile too for cooking. Especially if you eat a half pound or more a day for years like I have.

I'd say eat chicken, fish, extra lean turkey and other stuff and supplement with a good steak once a week or something. certain cuts are much healthier than others like round while Rib Eye, Filet and New York are all high in saturated fat. Of course those are all the damn good ones.

There's a lot. More than anywhere else other than butter and lard really. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif And just because you have a high metabolism, doesn't mean it's healthy for you. You can be skinny and loaded with bad cholesterol.

It's a great supplement to your standard diet though.

You should probably eat more often. I'd need to know your daily food routine. People with fast metabolisms generally need a little more work to find what works for them and what doesn't. Sometimes it's more carbs, sometimes it's more lifting, it's always more protein. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Egg whites are about the cheapest/purest source of protein you'll find anywhere.A Jumbo egg has about 8 grams, and a dozen cost's less then $3.Thats two 48g. servings of pure protein right there.

Please do not consider peanut butter as a quality source of protein.Yes it does contain some, but for our purposes we need animal protein in order to build muscle.

Tuna fish is also a highly economical source of protein.6oz. can contains roughly 45 grams as well, just make sure you get low sodium/packed in water.

Protein shakes are actually costly compared to the above, and I prefer whole food sources to processed protein, but thats just me.

If you do buy red-meat,use Flank Steak or Filet Mignon,as these are the least fatty.

Yeah egg whites are the way to go on a budget and versatile.

OG filet mignon is low in fat? I thought it was the opposite. Good news if it's low in fat though. Too bad it's so damn pricey.

Peanut butter is also really high in fat. I mix a scoop of it in my chocolate protien shakes sometimes and the peanut butter I had in my pantry was 16 grams of fat in a 2 tablespoon serving. I went to the grocery store to get the low fat kind and it still had 12 grams per serving. With that much fat I may as well just throw some barbecue fritos in my shake too!

Well, those are two completely different things. Fritos are sodium, sugar and saturated fats from frying.

Peanut Butter is almost entirely monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats aren't anything close to as bad as saturated and trans fats and do have benefits to them too. In smaller doses they can be very good for you and it also gives the body a more satiated feeling which can help prevent binging or eating again right away.

I know. I was kidding about the Fritos. I knew somebody would bust my balls about that! I eat about one scoop a day. It's probably the most fattening thing I eat and I love it...
