: GOALS -- Post em up!
Spidey 01-27-2004, 02:34 AM Just like the title says...
We have new guys coming in here everyday it seems, so I thought it might be a good idea to get all your info in one spot. If your trying to loose/gain weight, or just tone up, post it here along with your stats and what your doing to achieve those goals.
I'm 5'10" 165lbs and am trying to add some lean muscle mass. I'm on a strict protein and complex carb diet and heavy workout schedule. I run five mornings a week, and lift four nights a week. I'm hoping I can add 10lbs of lean muscle in the next 6 months.
So what are your goals, and how are you getting there?
Also, if your not sure how to achieve them please post EVERYTHING you eat during the day along with your routine so others can help. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Fiddy_Ryder 01-27-2004, 02:40 AM just like you brah.. get up to 175-178,, then lean down to high 160's low 170's with 12-14% bf or better if i can.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
oldgixxer 01-27-2004, 02:53 AM I'd like to get up to 270lbs.@5% bodyfat....
Seriously,I am thinking about competing again and as of now am trying to pack on as much lean mass as possible without too much fat.I'm not 20yrs. old anymore and sometimes the body just aches from all the years of stupid heavy weights and "fuck it" training attitude. So I just plug along and train as heavy as I can.I will start leaning up regardless come March so I can be ripped for summer.
RepulsioN 01-27-2004, 02:57 AM My goal at the moment is the 2004 Marathon Des Sables held in early April.
A 150 mile staged running race through the sahara desert. Often reffered to as the Toughest race on earth. Navigating yourself and carrying everything you need to survive in a rucksack.
Im on the tail end of a years worth of training for the damm thing.
In the more immediate future I have a 53 mile ultra marathon to complete on Feb 14th. and im under pressure to do well in that by my sponsors - As I had to pull out of a 50 mile trial race before christmas with a chest infection.
I recently managed to place 14th in the Cornish Marathon - which is the hilliest road Marathon in Britian I believe, 26 miles of relentless steep hills. So I think im doing Ok my training at the moment.
Just got to get to grips with My beer consumption.
Ive posted this link before in the past but just in case anyone else might be mildly interested...Ignoring the ridiculous photos I had to have taken - I hope I dont normally look that stupid....

just don't go pubbing before this one man! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
My Long term Goal is to trim down to 170-175, and then look at adding some lean mass. I'm a long ways out from that at this point, but making gains in the right direction.
SicShift 01-27-2004, 03:46 AM I'm going for 8-9% body fat at around 220 lbs. Giving myself about 4 months.

how ripped is someone at 8%?? i mean.. i know ive set a realistic goal of 12%, but i think i might have to try to get down that low once just to see if i can do it.. i like eating WAAAAYYY too much to even consider trying to maintain that for more than a month or so.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's pretty well defined. I may even be happy at ten percent. My goal is to look very ripped of course. Like the Men's Haalth cover models. I say them because I'm not going for the bodybuilder look right now although my genetics will probably have me looking like them more than anything else. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I was at about 12-13 percent a year and a half ago and I still had a few lbs to lose and I wasn't quite satisfied.
I love food too and you can still pig out every once in a while. Especially if you lead an active lifestyle which I do when I'm not seriously injured. I'm always hiking, surfing, snowboarding, golfing, and all that other stuff.
I've always trained people that were at the level I wanted to be at but I honestly never have been to where I want to be myself. So although it might not be something I maintain forever, I'd like to be there once and see how it is.

im fairly active so i dont put on fat the fast.. working out 4-5 days a week keeps me at a decent percentage with the current diet.. although i put on a bit due to upping my calories and carbs lately.. by you description i may just have to shoot for the sub 10% just once this summer to see how if can deal with it.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
GixieChick 01-27-2004, 06:09 AM It seems as if i'm the only chicky in here right now. My goals a little different. I'd like to lose 10-15 lbs, by May. What's the healthy amount you can lose each week where I can keep it off? I'm graduating college in May, and am going away for a few weeks. Then Ihave a wedding that i'm in, in July. So I want to look hot.
Also, how should I go about it? I was lifting light weights, high reps, but then someone told me about building muscle mass over existing non muscle. Then i'll look even bigger. So i'm eating better, more fruit, veggies, smaller portions, and I eat 5-6 small meals a day... and i'm also doing cardio ONLY at the gym.
I'm a youngin, 23... and i've been an athlete all my life. I'm no toothpick, and never will be. You can bounce a quarter off my ass and thighs, I can lift a ton, but my tummy isn't as ripped as i'd like. So any help would be great!

You can safely shoot for 1.5- 2lbs. each week.Although if you seriously tighten up your diet(cutting out all soda, fatty, salty, processed foods, alcohol, etc)you can expect to drop anywhere between 3-7lbs.the first week alone. But thats ALL water, mostly due to the high sodium content in all of the commercially prepared foods people eat.
Bounce a quarter off your ass eh?I think we would all like to see a pic of that for proof http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifj/k....

yah yah i know... but im in my *bulking* stage right now http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif and to be 100% honest with you ive cut my liquor consumption in HALF over the past few months.. i used to go out fri/sat and get practically pissed both nights on cognac and good beer. i now go out and party one night on the weekends(not every weekend at that) , and dont drink nearly as much liquor as i did before (im guessin id average at least 10-12 shots a night and throw in a few beers for good measure http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif) . I know damn well if i jump in this head first and not take my time, ill never get there. Im sure as hell gonna give it a shot for this summer, by any means neceassry, even if it means giving up gettin tanked on the weekends.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Sun Burn 01-27-2004, 08:44 AM My goal is to stick to my high protien diet and not go back to drinking beer and eating pizza everyday. I'm 24 6'0 and weigh 175. I'd like to add about 5 pounds of muscle while getting rid of that little bit of flab around the middle. I want to increase my bench press by about 15-20 pounds in 6 months. Wish me luck and keep posting...it keeps me motivated!
bmfgsxr 01-27-2004, 08:48 AM my goal is to get back in shape like i was 3 years ago.. 3 years ago i was about 205 and about 10% bodyfat. i dont want to be shredded. i have some good joint injuries so keeping a little more fat helps the joints.
right now im about 210 and about 15% bodyfat. basically get my guns back up to 18", neck 19.5, chest 49, waist 34. without shoes im 5'11 1/2". and currently my arms are just a touch under 17", chest is about 47.5, neck is about 18.5, and waist is 35.
at the moment my exercise consists of 3 days a week of shoulder rehad exercises. ive been doing that for about 2 months and im seeing some slow results. about a month ago i started some arm work again, but nothing too heavy yet. and my last workout i just added in some pushups but i could feel the strain in my shoulder so its going to be a slow road back to where i should be.
this is where i was, and will be again... http://www.gixxer.com/uploads/Picture_1221.jpg

SicShift 01-27-2004, 12:34 PM BMF, although it doesn't look like it (you look much more massive lol ) we're similarly sized. I'm a little over 6' with shoes and this is me at about 225 and 16-17% BF.
I rarely post photos of myself but since we're doing a goal topic, this is my mid term goal to be back to this, and a few more months to add some muscle and get more definition.
this is like an MPD photoshop orgy.

oldgixxer 01-27-2004, 02:33 PM Here I am in October, and a couple weeks ago.I was 210 in Oct.and was 224lbs.in the second pic when it was taken, before I trained and after 1 meal. You can see how dramatic the increase in delt size is.I have not started my cardio yet,and am still bulking.I am now 227,and a little harder.I plan to get to 7-8%bf,that should put me roughly around 205-207lbs.Cardio and diet to start inMarch.

BTW, your delts are looking huge.
oldgixxer 01-27-2004, 02:44 PM An educated guess would put me around 12-14%.Im only 5-7" too.
SicShift 01-27-2004, 02:46 PM wow. I'd love to have that definition.
well, ironically, I'm heading back to the gym right now for an hour of cardio. BBL.

Have fun w/ the cardio. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gifI think I am going to have a few Oreo Double Stuff's and a nice big glass of skim milk before I go to bed....
A_Fire_Inside 01-27-2004, 05:21 PM lol....okay i guess these are pretty funny goals compared to what everyone else is shooting for, but right now i'm 157 and i want to be 170 by summer. the most i've ever been up to is 165
soysauce021 01-27-2004, 06:09 PM I'm 5'6", when i started 8 months ago i was 175. Right now i'm around 196 still in a "bulking up phase" and right around 16-18% BF last time i measured. Gonna lean out for summer tho.
Goals:
Would like to be 180-190 with a single digit BF count.
And try at least one competition
Skibo 01-27-2004, 07:21 PM Im just trying to lose my gut and pack on some muscle. Im 5'8 I was wieghing around 194 I have droped a little to around 186. took about 2 weeks. bwhahaah Knick Knack... thats hilarious!!!! honestly tho short stumpy guys (like you http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ) got the edge when it comes to going heavy with the reduced range of motion. i mean you only gotta go what 2 ft? to get ass to ankles on a squat right? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif
oldgixxer 01-28-2004, 05:42 AM Yep,us Knick-Knack's have leverage on our side.I have alot less distance to go when squatting with someone who's 6-4" and I use that to my advantage.
My muscle belly's are shorter and again,I have less distance to move the weight to achieve basically the same effect as someone with longer limbs.I have the ability to pack on alot of mass on my short frame which makes me appear very thick.
The downside to that,is I will always "narrow" at the shoulders as compared to larger framed people. What I'm trying to say is sometimes when you see me in a baggy sweatshirt, you can tell I workout, but you wouldn't be like,"Whoa, that guys huge".But now take a guy who is 6-2" and if he has lb. for lb. the same mass and density I have and put him in a baggy sweatshirt, you'd be like,"Holy shit, that guys a monster http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif".

Knick Knack is Hilarious!!!!!! (that gave me a good laugh)
I used to work out with a short guy and the fact that I had to bend way down to take the bar off the rack was killing my lower back. hahahaha...i know what your talking about!!!

bmfgsxr 01-29-2004, 09:35 AM at the time of those pics i was benching around 325. not too bad, but i wasnt in the power lifting routine. my routine was 2 days on one day off two days on two days off. my chest workout was heavy dumbell presses, incline presses and dips. my back workouts were wide grip pull ups, close grip pull ups and one arm rows (aka lawn mower rows). and shoulders were just 6 sets of military press, 4 sets shrugs, 4 sets bent over flies. as far as arms went, i would do 3 sets of concentration curls after my back workout, or three sets of hammer curls (id alternate) and on chest day id do either 3 sets of kickbacks, skull crushers, or over head one arm extensions. then i was riding my exercise bike and jogging. i did everything in my house.
GSXRKID750 01-31-2004, 01:05 PM Right now I'm 5'10 1/2" and weigh about 177 at 8% bodyfat. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm hoping to be 185 at the same body fat % in three months. I've had difficulty putting on weight in the past because of all my athletics but now I do no cardio. Hopefully I'll be able to pack on quality mass and fill out. I may be getting on the board for some help with sample meals to pack on size! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
Figured I would through up my goals as well.. Currently I am 6ft 1inch and weight 205lbs bf% unknown. Been bulking the past 3months. About 10months ago I was 205lbs with a lot more bf. Got down to 184lbs and decided to start bulking..
Goals were to pack on some good size for summer and cut down about 1 month before its getting warm.. Usually around mid april or so is when it gets decent around here but that changes every yr. I would like to be 210-220lbs and around 10%bf, so i need to put on more size and lose a few %bf yet..
Here is me little over a month ago.. I gained a solid 4lbs sinse then but havent taken pics yet.. 4lbs would be hard to see probably anyway.
