I told myself that I would only buy 1 gun a year and no new calibers. Well, that didn't work as well as I had planned. I picked up a marlin 336 chambered in 30/30 used. It was at a good price and I always wanted one so I couldn't pass it up. I checked the serial number and I believe it was made in 2006. The gun is really clean with no marks on it. The bullets in the picture are a 30/30, a 300 win mag, and a 50 cal (although I don't own a gun to shoot the 50 out of :sad)

My buddy just picked up a Marlin rifle too. He got the bolt action one that shoots 22LR that has the stock and scope and the whole nine. He like it a lot but I haven't yet had a chance to shoot it.

Actually, I take it back. It wasn't a 22LR it's a 17HMR Marlin.

My Dad has an old lever action 30/30 he's been hunting with for his life time, still takes deer every year with it. I have a Marlin model 60 tube fed .22. I love that gun, straight shooter, reliable.

I got it for $270. The gun looks as if it could be brand new exceot the wood in the front is a little darker from being handeled. MSRP I think they are about $500 brand new. I knew eventually I would get one so I figured I better get it now. I don't think I will be putting a scope on it though. I'll probably take the rail off and put in some set screws to plug the holes. I figure it is what it is- a good brush gun. Although, the hornady leverevelution bullets make it accurate out to 300 yards.
