I'm not sure if the whole point of this exercise is to truly gauge your response time to an actual "threat" or is it actually gauging (dare I say) if you are racially profiling simply because the break down is Black vs. white armed/unarmed. :scratch

Its a stupid game that will do nothing for you in a shooting competition, or real life scenerio. But it was fun:lol

My biggest problem was forgetting which key was shoot/don't shoot. I got shot a bunch of times.

1st try at it.

This must prove no racial profiling here, im pretty fast to shoot a white and black guy. :lmao :lmao :lmao

But for real, who is to say the whats right or wrong. The guys with firearms could be reacting to a crime (a good guys), or the guys with the phones and wallets (bad guys) just didnt hold someone up and steal them.

I shot a bunch of people in the beginning from hitting the wrong buttons, but not too bad I dont think.

Oh, and i see that it takes me a bit longer to differentiate between black armed and unarmed.... a bit of racial profiling??

the link goes to university of chicago...why do I think these stats are collected and will be used as some kind of study to prove that citizens shouldn't own guns. Or am I being paranoid? :shifty

uh huh

http://www.intenseexperiences.com/university-of-chicago-shooter-game.html

"Since 2000, we have been working to develop and refine a first-person-shooter videogame, which presents a series of images of young men, some armed, some unarmed, set against realistic backgrounds like parks or city streets," the department's website explains.
"The player's goal is to shoot any and all armed targets, but not to shoot unarmed targets. Half of the targets are black, and half are white. We have used this game to investigate whether decisions to 'shoot' a potentially hostile target can be influenced by that target's race."
The shooter game research (http://home.uchicago.edu/%7Ejcorrell/TPOD.html) demonstrates "robust evidence of racial bias in decisions to shoot... Participants shoot an armed target more quickly and more often when that target is black, rather than white. However, participants decide not to shoot an unarmed target more quickly and more often when the target is white, rather than black. In essence, participants seem to process stereotype-consistent targets (armed blacks and unarmed whites) more easily than counterstereotypic targets (unarmed blacks and armed whites)."

I guess that somewhat proves my point.
