Are they good meal substitutes? If not, what can I eat/drink while on the run or at work that would be equilelant to a meal?

Sure they are. But that depends on what's in them. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Personally, I like the Gold's Gym meal substitute shakes. They're kind of middle of the road. Not too many calories but well balanced, full of vitamins and good taste. I used to put servings into ziplock bags and keep a few in my car.

They taste best mixed with skim milk plus you get the added protein but water does fine in a pinch.

There's a billion shake recipes out there. It all depends on what you like, what you want in it, etc. etc.

I don't hit up GNC and other places that often so I can't give you many alternatives but I'm sure old gixxer knows a ton of em.

Usually I mix 1/2 banana into a shake and drink it when my meal should be eaten....makes it thicker and tastes great. Picked up 5 gallons of protein today...I will make some shakes for tomorrow..

If you are looking for a shake to use as a meal replacement.. which is not recomended though i would use Nitro PRO40 240 calories and 100% of almost all vitamines and minerals and 33 grams of protein.. good stuff..

I picked up a 7.5 pound tub of isopure. It is good stuff (thanks fiddy). It tastes alright in water. Is it still ok to mix it with skim milk? or does it kill the pourpose.

Skibo,it's better to mix it w/ skim milk,it will add protein and taste.

I like Pro-Score 100 Chocolate Whey Protein shakes best. I've tried a bunch of them, and this one has a good balance of taste and nutrition. Oh and I mix it with skim milk too. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey is the best tasting protein supplement I have used. The Chocolate tastes just like Nestles(sp) Quick. Plus, it is cheaper than some of the other brand names. Although, It is not a meal replacement, only a protein supplement.

ON's 100% whey is a really good choice..

You are looking for a meal replacement, whey protein is not your best option.. It will do, but whey is ideal for post workout in water because it takes only a short amount of time to get into your system. If its mixed in milk it slows the digestion sum but it wouldnt be ideal for on the run.. They do make casien(spelling??) protein which IMO would be a better option cause it takes longer to digest.
