I'm new to the site so I don't really know where to post this thread. If you know of a better place please let me know. So here's my problem. I got a C28 error code so I checked the STVA and it wasn't moving. I took it apart and it had water in it and some rust. I cleaned it out all the way into the stepper motor. I put it back togother and tested it first by hooking it straight to the battery. I was amazed when it turned both ways just fine.
I was excited to put it back on the bike thinking how much money I just saved myself but of course something is wrong. When I turn on the key the STVA turns clockwise 180 degrees and stops. When I turn off the key it stays there. When I turn the key back on it tries to turn clockwise again but it can't because of the cables.
Is it supposed to go back to it's original position when I turn the key off?
I have a manual and it says to check the position by putting it in dealer mode and turning the key on. I tried that but it turns clockwise just a little bit and then starts clicking like it is bound up. I disconnected the cables and it does the same thing in dealer mode. When I had it in normal mode I would turn the key on and it would turn 180 degrees clockwise everytime.
Can anyone help me please? Did I put something together wrong on the STVA?

There's a detailed installation and adjustment procedure:

PDF file is big. If you need the whole manual, let me know.

I actually have the manual but it is somewhat vague on what the STVA should be doing. Have you ever had one apart? It only goes back together one way except for the top gear that has the contacts on it. That gear can be put in facing any way you want to put it. Could that have something to do with it? I have tried moving it into a lot of different positions but it still doesn't seem to move like it is supposed to. Does anyone know of a good place to call that works on a lot of street bikes? I live in a small town so there isn't much here. Please help. Thanks.

Sorry, beyond the manual, I have nothing to offer.
