You shouldn't need rearsets on an '00 750 - it has lots of ground clearance. When you start scraping the peg itself, it's time for rearsets. If it's your boot, it's the position of your foot.

Most likely, you are riding 'duckfooted', which is a very common thing. Ie, many people ride with their heel on the peg and toes pointed out so they are the first thing to touch down.

Proper technique is to ride with the balls of your feet up on the peg, tucked in close against the bike. Try this before looking at new equipment.

Best of luck!

Yep, I'd second that. Your foot position is wrong. Your either riding duck footed or your feet aren't completely on the pegs.

I used to ride like that until i started going through toe sliders very quickly. Still good to put the shitters up people behind me especially as I have the titanium ones.

Well scraping your toes can be a very bad thing to cause if you touch down hard enough you can unsettle your balence with the bike and cause yourself and the bike to end up on the ground and as we all know that is definatly not what we are aiming for

work on getting your ass off the seat and prop your outside knee against the tank. scraping toes is very upsetting (solid hit) where the knee is much softer. if you're just sitting straight up and leaning the bike over, you'll end up scraping hard parts a lot sooner, and crashing will next in line.

What the doctor said. Lean your body not the bike.

I was going to say the same thing. Scraping two isn't a big deal. I scraped toe as well the first few times that I tried harder lean angles as well.

RIde on the balls of your feet. I use the toe slider as an indicator that you're leaning the bike too far. Cornering is much easier and safer if you lean with your body rather than the bike. Look at the body positions of racers. If you're trying to scrape knee, that's the kind of position you'll have to adopt. You want to hang off the bike to the inside of the corner with your knee out. At the extreme you're almost pushing the bike away from you to hang off the inside. It allows you to keep the bike more vertical and maximize your ground clearence for the same corner speed.

Just keep in mind that you are not trying to use your knee as an "outrigger." In other words, don't stick your knee way out to where it is close to or perpendicular to the bike, it only needs to out a little bit. You are using your knee to judge your lean angle, thats it. Great advice Vancity!

I used to scrape boot and pegs long before knee too... then a racer followed me around the track and got my body position right. everything from the waist down was good but my upper body was steering the bike underneath me fucking everything up. Now that I have my body position corrected I either have problems dragging or I'm just picking my knee up... either way I'm going a whole lot fast that before.

Not your entire ass, though, only one cheek. If you hang off with your whole ass, you'll pivot so much around the tank that your knee comes closer to the bike. I use the crack (http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif) as a gauge and stick out my knee pretty far when I come into the corner. As soon as my knee touches, I let it come closer to the bike according to the necessary lean angle. Great control of angle this way http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
