I have no info on this but am interested...what benefit would you gain by putting a mod chip in an X-box? what do they do exactly to the system?

It will allow you to play burned games. also you can put a bigger harddrive into it and download games to that and play full games without disks, i know a 120 mb hard drive can hold over 30 games.

The best mod chip to get is the newer plug and play one if you are not confident with your soldering. The easy part is getting the mod chips, the hard part now is getting the system to flash the rom mod chip you get... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

There are close to a dozen varieties of mod chips, all with different options and features. Rather than bore you with the details on each chip. Here are the best mod chips on the market.

Xecuter2 Pro v2.2 Plus
Has a parallel interface so you can flash the BIOS directly with your PC. The Pro lacks a BIOS and needs to be manually flashed before using.
Xecuter2 Lite v2.2 Plus
The Lite chip is actually better because it's pre-flashed.

Be careful when purchasing your mod chips online. There are lots of shady fly-by-night websites that are just out there to take your money.

Solder the chips... or not

Another reason to like the Xecuter Plus chips? Unlike most Xbox mod chips, you don't have to solder the chip to the motherboard. All you have to do is align the chip and screw it down.

Once you've screwed the chip into place, boot your Xbox. You should see the Xecuter logo instead of the Microsoft logo. If you see this, good. It means you installed the chip correctly and that it's functioning.

The Xbox-Scene is the best resource for Xbox tutorials on the Web. If you have any questions along your modding journey, visit the site. Other good site are The Console Corner and xbox-modchips.com.

Anyway, Also here is a really kick ass book that tells you TONS of killer mods for the XBox...

(I was too lazy to take a pict of mine so I just copied from the web) but below is the link too!

Do a search on it , i know of one place www.modchipsource.com (http://www.modchipsource.com) i beleive is where i got mine from , i have the X-Bit solderles and dont care to much for the solderless connectors , it took quit awhile to get the one pin set in there properly and every once in awhile i have to smack my box on the bottom to get it to boot up so one of these days i will be pulling it apart and soldering the connections.A friend of mine has one of the executers and has had no problems with his, the also have a new one out that is similiar to the xbit wit a usb adapter to flash new bios to it.

Also i only have an 80gb in mine right now and i have around 25-30 games as well , but i will be upgrafing because there is a new bios out that allows as big of a hard drive as you would like.

You can also put a larger hard drive in it instead of the standard 8GB. That way you can put all sorts of stuff on it including games so you donn't need to use the CD's, you an also put movies and music straight on the HDD and play them from there.

i have a 160 gig hd with an xecuter 2 in my xbox... if you get the non-solder one.. expect to baby your xbox around.. the slightest movements can jar the little pins out of place..

Also, dont forget -- if you have a modded Xbox you will not be able to use the Xbox Live...It will lock you out as well as your credit card info etc for future use of the service.... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Just a FYI! I did not realize this until I had seen a segment about it a few nights ago on TechTv.....

There are "other" ways around that using your PC as the server etc., though as you probably already know.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
