Officially, "when it's done". Who knows? I think originally they were going to release it in 2003, but I think now it's pushed back to 2nd quarter of 2004. I haven't played any games in the past couple of years, but I'm definately getting Doom 3. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

might as well not buy a computer until Doom 3 comes out...it'll require a fast ass processor and some $400+ video card.

have any of you guy seen the requiremnts for this game yet? I've heard it's going to take a fast machine to run it. As for a $400 graphics card I think most 128 meg cards could do it, they start around $100+

I'd wait until the game actually comes out before you buy anything. Prices on the current computer equipment will be noticeably cheaper by that time. Plus, they'll probably have reviews out a week or two before the game comes out. The reviews usually tell you what kind of hardware you'll need to really be able to play the game.

Id software is usually pretty good about having highly configurable software. You will probably be able to get it to run on much lesser machines, but it won't look anywhere near as good.

Honestly a good video card for this game would be a Radeon 9600XT,its one of the fastest cards on the market and you can pick one up for around $189....It is what I have and I have had no probs with running any game(it's a 128mb card),plus I got a 2.4ghz cpu overclocked to 2.7 w/600mhz FSB.....Also for this game(Doom3)I would use a SATA hard drive since they are so much faster than ATA 100/133 drives!

wow this thread got hijacked big time...haha
It'll probably be some kind of conversion like balder's gate was from pc to ps2...decent, but not nearly as good or the same.
