does anyone know if the 2001 GSXR 600 have the same sprockets as a 2003 GSXR 1000. The reason i ask is i'm buying a 04 GSXR 600 and would like to know if they will be compatible. The 03 1000's have a lot of similarities with the new 600 coming out.

Why you naming three different bikes, do you own a six hundred and a 1k or was there a messup in there? What do you mean by same sprockets? Both bikes come with 525 chain/sprockets stock. The final gearing is not the same, the 01/03 six hundreds are 16/45 and the 03/04 1000s are 17/42. yes you could use the sprockets on either bike. If you were using the 16/45 on the 1000 you would have race gearing for an average sizedl track or a bike that whould acellerate way faster and wheelie everywhere on the street. It would feel like you were in fifth gear when you were in sixth, in turms of how much more it makes your bike rev and you might not like it. Depends on if you do much cruising around or if you just like to bomb lots. It also will bring the top spee down by about 25km or so. My 600 is plus 6 right now and it's just bareable for street ridding. Now if you put the 17/42 on the six hundred it might go ten km faster but you would need a never ending straight away to get upto speed. It would make your bike feel liike a cruiser or a moped. There would be no reason to use this combo on the 600. I dont know the specs on the new 600s final gearing. I think it's going to be about the same, but the internal gear box is said to have a closer ratio sixth gear. Hope this helps you out.

uuuuhhhh...whatever he said, i dunno, i got bored half way thru...
to awnser your question...
they are all interchangeable and compatable. they just come in different sizes. you gotta keep 530 with 530. and 525 with 525...the 1000's have 530 size chain and sprockets the 6's and 7's have 525. they all come with different numbered tooth sprockets (front and rear) but they will all bolt up no problem...if that's what your vauge question was aimed towrds.
