I'm in the process of installing my new headlights, the new ones are 35 watt. I believe that the stock ones on my old gixxer are 55watt. What kind of resistors etc. do I need to keep the new ones from burning up?

you don't need a resistor unless the voltage is different on you new lights. your new bulbs will just use less watts and won't be as bright as your old ones.
