: I popped my drop cherry...
Bertio 04-17-2009, 11:39 AM First off no injurys whatsoever, I didn't even touch the ground. I was coming up to a stop to a 2 lane street next to my college. Looked right, no cars. Looked left, no cars. Revved to 3k slowly let out clutch brought my head back forward BAM!@$#$#%@ 6 chicks in sports bras booty shorts and ipods in front of me I slammed front and slammed clutch in. I was already leaning into my right turn so the just sudden stop with no right turn to straighten out compensation and the bike started going over to the right. By the time I was able to put my foot down I was using it as a means to bail off the bike I was not stopping it from going down, lol I remember a split second where I was like "I got this, I can save it, no, no I cant, ABANDON SHIP lol" Here is the funny part. After my bike went down they just kept running. Fuckin bitches. I went into auto pick my bike up mode which of course I was too close to a curb to put my legs out for leverage. A random guy came and helped me up and before I he even touched my bike I was already saying 1-2-3 lift and up it went. Go men, I bet any guy here could run up on a bike and if the guy said 1-2-3 you would lift. I know the women wouldnt have been able to help me so I guess its best they kept running. I felt like one of those guys in the tornadoes..."It just happened so fast, whoosh gone."
Damages: Broken clutch lever (anyone have a cheap replacement?) scuffed mirror (which didnt break of bend, took the fall like a pro) and....thats it, I Dont have frame sliders but paint on the right lower was chipped off but didnt break through. I popped it off to check the case just in case and not a nick. Just a flooded dripping carb that scared me when it wouldnt start lol.
Anyways, I want to thank...GG, Kool OG and a few other people that I cant remember their names you know who you are, and of course god it wasnt possible without you.
Thank you
and
GOOD NIGHT!
DOBERDEWD 04-17-2009, 11:55 AM The important thing about any "GETOFF" is that if you are here telling the story, IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING" .... I'm glad you're ok Bertio .... :cheers
Revoroller 04-17-2009, 11:59 AM Sounds like what happened to my brother last year, but him and my sis in law were going into a right turn on the superglide and was behind a van and the guy had no brake lights or turn signals and went to turn into the gas station and hit the brakes and my bro jad to lay the bike over or be creamed on the back of the van. it skidded about 15ft. Bent the shit out of the handle bars, clutch lever and scratched the primary and dented the tank. Insureance covered it and they got away with a couple scratches and my bro had a nasty burn on his leg from the headers.
Bertio 04-17-2009, 12:00 PM I am more PO'd about the women...man I bet if I dropped the clutch like a noob and ran 1 or 5 of them down they would have stopped lol.
wolfzero 04-17-2009, 12:14 PM roughly translated you were staring at six asses in booty shorts and forgot how to ride :lol
Necca 04-17-2009, 12:37 PM :lmao:lmao what whores! I woulda ran back to check on u than gave u hella shit :punk glad ur ok thg
GSXR_911 04-17-2009, 12:41 PM ... 6 chicks in sports bras booty shorts and ipods in front of me
See you're a better man than me, least you were turning... I'd have probably laid the bike over :oogle ing the chicks!!!
First thing I ever did to my bike was the frame sliders, and let me tell you oh so worth it. I was practicing in a parking lot, slow U-Turns. I had turned the handle bar but my wrist wasn't able to twist the throttle, and the same thing the slow nooooooooooo. I was able to assist the bike down? Its amazing how much strength embarrassment gives you, cause I grabbed the bike and umph'd it up, threw the kick stand down, and stretched my arms, mumbling "yep that's enough riding for now time to hop off and give the ol arms a stretch. What? my bike fall? whatever are you talking about??"
Glad to hear you're ok and the bike faired not so bad
Necca 04-17-2009, 12:53 PM :ohmy STALKER!
gotgixers 04-17-2009, 12:55 PM Glad to hear you are okay dude...
GSXR_911 04-17-2009, 01:02 PM :ohmy STALKER!
Stalkers are people too!!!! and you're only a stalker if you ignore the 4th restraining order geeeesh :wacko
Bertio 04-17-2009, 01:20 PM I dont know whats funnier, the fact you said stalker or you checked your myspace that frequently
MikeHump 04-17-2009, 01:44 PM sucks, but at least you have a good attitude about it. good luck with the repairs.
oh and i'm curious...you said it dropped on the right side and there were scratches on the right side...but your clutch lever broke?
Necca 04-17-2009, 01:49 PM I dont know whats funnier, the fact you said stalker or you checked your myspace that frequently

THE SRADIATOR 04-17-2009, 02:14 PM The ONLY thing that can make this all better is 3 out of 6 phone numbers!
:biggrinCongrats!! It's amazing what happens when your brain sees good lookin or potentially good looking tits. There's only 2 things which screw up the male species. Anything with wheels or anything with tits. My first old lady could never figure that out. In the late 60s, I was riding a rigid panhead and she could never understand why I was always washing, waxing, tuning etc. Easy, I told her. It always responded. I could put the key in and know it would start with the first kick. It never had cramps, heavy days, spotty days, head aches, etc. I didn't have to buy it jewelry, flowers, take it to dinner, be nice to it etc. It was always ready. You know 40 years later, I still miss that first wife. She was something special. :biggrin
Bertio 04-17-2009, 03:47 PM When I jumped off I let go and the lever released and hit the pavement bending it the opposite way breaking it pretty clean off at the base there pretty cheap I'm guessing and they were long too didn't give the bar tips a chance to take the blow I didn't bend my clip on which was good
MikeHump 04-17-2009, 03:48 PM well but yeah the clutch lever is on the left side of the bike, and you dropped it on the right side, correct?
GSXRsleeper 04-17-2009, 03:52 PM friggin clutch levers. cheap but still a pain.
I can remember accidentally dropping my first bike in a parking lot when I thought the kickstand was engaged that was enough force to break my clutch lever (riding home without a clutch is NOT FUN!). Anyways after that I figured out how to never worry about snapping a clutch or brake lever again.
Mark where your pinky finger sits on the leaver with a pen/tape/groove and take out the ol' angle grinder. Taper of the lever, like kinda into a narrow (saber)tooth, you can make em pretty bad ass, just do yourself a favor and make your sure you blunt the end of it. :biggrin
In theory this should fix your problem (I've never had the pleasure of testing it out) but all stunt riders use short manufactured or shaved levers to prevent snaps.
Speedin4fun 04-17-2009, 03:54 PM I know what happened! You saw some fine ladies in little outifts boobs and asses bouncing in your face and then.............

Great to see another Aussie lad in here. Took you quite a while to own up to it though... tsk, tsk.
Bugger about your tumble but it could have been worse. At least you had a good view while it happened.

Haha, gotta love those "Jizz in my pants" references. Bravo dude... my first drop last year left me with a broken left lower... still need to get it fixed and painted. That was embarressing

dood! he called u dump! :spit hilarious!
txoutlawgsxr 04-20-2009, 11:51 AM That sucks. My was popped for me. I walked out of the store and found it on its side. Person told me that a guy got out of his truck and walked into it and pushed it over. They got into the truck and drove off. And no one seemed to have gotten the plate number. I was pissed.
Yes, he called me Dump and it's very appropriate. Used to be known to drop a load in some unusual places, like 1 guy's desk drawer and another's parking space. But I was much, much younger then. :wacko Old GSXR, I've been thinking about a swing arm type myself, with a 120incher or one of the new S&S 103inch shovels. Would make for a sweet ride, maybe a 34 neck with about 2 inches on the backbone. Definitely wouldn't be a long bike like bucket #2.
wolfzero 04-20-2009, 03:49 PM i nearly droped my 750 yesterday i'd turned it around ready to go for a ride, i'm digging up the back yard and forgot to put the bit of board back under the side stand.
i'd just given the exhaust can a clean when the side stand started to sink into the ground, i managed to grab the handle bar just before it got beyond the point of no return.
the top of the bike would have hit a wall and done some serious damage, i was more worried about that than binning it on the road
old gsxr 04-20-2009, 09:01 PM My friend gets "what do you want to own one of them old harleys for" hes putting later model twin disc front ends on with hidden controls caus there clean lookin and the old pan drum don't cut it . he's got 3 sets of forks 2,4,6 over stock pan length. i personallly wouldn't own one newer than a gennie shovel , those S&S engines are good value compared to full rebuild. knuckleheads rule as far as looks go
koolaid5 04-20-2009, 11:48 PM Why did I get thanked in this thread :dunno Well...you're welcome for whatever.
Glad to hear you're ok and the only thing that got REALLY hurt was your pride :biggrin
I dropped my bike in the garage last year. I had been putting it up and taking it off of the rearstand SO f'n much that I got a little careless. I went to put it up and the right side of the stand didn't catch the spool, so I basically just lifted up the left side and f'n dumped it. As it was happening it all moved in slow motion... NNNNOOOOOooooooo. Then I got the shot of freak strength and threw the bike back up in about half a second. Stepped back and looked at it and could only think....WHAT the fu(k just happened??? :ohmy no major damage, so lesson learned and no big deal :biggrin
