I would seriously be interested. But more at 2006 closeout prices. $3-4k for mag wheels is ridiculous. I've been through this before where I've placed an order only to find our 4 months later that the wheel is still not in stock. If we do this I want the wheels delivered in a month. Or only a $99 deposit taken with the rest charged the day the wheels ship out (within a reasonable amount of time).

Or only a $99 deposit taken with the rest charged the day the wheels ship out (within a reasonable amount of time).that is the BIG issue with these. marchesini has upped their prices twice in the past year. prices are nowhere close to what they use to be for these.

He informed me that Carrozzeria's new forged aluminum wheel (Vstar) is lighter than the Marchesini, that the spacer issue that plagued Carrozzeria in that past has been fixed, and that he races with them on his bike and they are awesome. He quoted me a really really great price on these wheels if a group purchase of 5 or more were to happen (he asked me not to print the price but to PM him instead. I'm not surprised at what you're saying about the Marchies - I bought a set of black ones for my 750 about a month ago and it was like pulling teeth to find a shop that even had them. I just got lucky that one of the distributors had one last set after trying several other shops with no dice.

Rather than the Carrozeria's have you guys tried Galespeed? After the horror stories I've heard about Carrozeria I wouldn't touch them myself unless they were dirt-cheap, we're talking less than a grand (and even then that'd be with some trepidation). I've heard nothing but good things about Galespeed though.

i will say that i ran 30 track days last year with the v-stars on my 600. at the end of last year i sold the wheels to a good friend who raced the daytona 200 with them this year. the v-stars are good wheels.

almost every set of their older v6 wheels had spacer issues. i quit selling their wheels because of this. not until they proved to me that the new wheels had no issues did i start selling them again. this last set i had made a total of 4 sets of the v-stars. no issues on any of them at all.

What is the actual weight difference of the 05-06 1K OEM wheels compared to the Marchesinis Forged AL?

What is the actual weight difference of the 05-06 1K OEM wheels compared to the Marchesinis Forged AL?

It not so much how much lighter is the static weight.... as It's Where all the weight is located on the wheels.

They are very close in weight,

The Main difference is the OEM Wheels have most of their weight on the outer ring. You can see the OEM Hub is nearly hollow.

Where as the Marchesini hub is nearly solid., and most of the weight is in the middle, REDUCING the weight from the outer ring.


The MORE weight you have farther from the Center of rotation the MORE is effects the bike. The gyroscopic effect is much heavier on stock wheels, making turn in slower, acceleration slower, and braking distance longer.

So, while the overal static weight may be close...... the Lighter outer ring of the Marchesini have great improvements on how your bike handles, accelerates and brakes.

Not to mention they are major eye candy, and a great investment.

Everyone wants them. And eventually if you ever decide to upgrade your bike or sell it, you won't have any problems getting a MAJORITY of your money back by selling the wheels.

The way things are going.... In 2-3 years, RETAIL on those wheels will probably be like $3000.
