: F you California
Aedan 04-05-2009, 05:11 PM So I went down to pick up my AR 15 lower yesterday (after 10 day waiting period). Now in the state of California, when you buy a rifle, you must either have a gun safe at home, or leave the gun shop with a lock through the chamber. Since I don't have a gun safe, I had to leave the store with this... since an AR 15 lower is so dangerous by itself. I'm serious, I couldn't walk out the door until I put the lock through like this. :wtf
California... :dissapointed

sti2gsxr 04-05-2009, 05:17 PM they do that to protect you from the gangs with stolen guns. it's for the safety of you and others
:dissapointed California
1qwik6 04-05-2009, 05:43 PM Its a cute baby blue at least :lol
You'd never know the governor was the Terminator :wacko
gsxr313 04-05-2009, 05:45 PM That's actually comical. If you were to buy a LPK, do they make you pick up each piece individually??? :lol Amazing...
V2rider 04-05-2009, 06:53 PM Man, I don't live there and I already hate it.:spit
slodsm 04-05-2009, 07:30 PM I seriously threw up in my mouth a little.
How can a state with such a plethora of sick cars, gorgeous women, perfect weather, and wicked canyon roads be sooooooooo gay.
oldfart01 04-05-2009, 07:42 PM CRAZY BASTARD, You Probably Had Ammo In Your Pocket Too! That Is Some Dangerous Stuff There! I Bet You Run With Scissors!
RidnGsxrs 04-05-2009, 07:50 PM How do they prove if you have a gun safe or not?
V2rider 04-05-2009, 08:21 PM How do they prove if you have a gun safe or not?
Thats law #2. If you didnt buy a safe from them, they can't sell you a gun.:monkeyface
08 GSX-R750 04-05-2009, 09:15 PM So what would be the purpose of a gun if you cant get to it quickly in a emergency? Scenario: Guy breaks into your house, walks towards your bedroom, your wife screams you run to the safe, taking a min to open the safe you tell the robber hold on a min let me get something? Before you can even get to it you're dead! Useless i tell ya. AFAIK i didn't know AR-15's are still legal in Cali, i have one but i got it like back in 2001. I haven't been into guns in a while, every year the gun roster changes with less and less guns enlisted.

I think to have them in California you have to bastardize them. Kind of like this (pink optional. :lol )

1chance4chances 04-06-2009, 06:42 PM That's funny when I bought both my hand guns here in Ca I left the store gun in unlocked case, no trigger lock, or cable lock on either gun, and with ammo. i guess that lower is just that dangerous.
Moto_Joe 04-06-2009, 06:50 PM They wanted you to be able to throw it at a bad guy since you couldnt shoot them.. added weight. They were just looking out for ya :thumbup
:spit
I walk in to the local gun store, drop my mag into my pocket, pop the round out of the chamber, show the slide open to the cashier...... and walk around with it in my hand if I want :lol......
Technically I dont even have to do that, and I dont usually if I am not there to check out holsters or something where I might take the gun out.
And when I bought it, they guy threw ammo in the box WITH the gun as I checked out :lol..... no lock of course :D
Moto_Joe 04-06-2009, 06:51 PM Oh yeah, and it takes the cashier longer to check me out, than it does to run a background check :spit..... waiting period was "how long will this call take"... and now with a CWP it takes as long as it takes me to get the card out of my wallet :phhht
V2rider 04-06-2009, 06:54 PM Similar in MN. I walk up, buy the gun, but THEY walk it and the ammo to the register and I pay for my guns and ammo and leave.:dunno
Joe, do they make you show your gun in the store? Seems odd. And yes the permit helps. I'm in and out in 10 minutes with 2 guns at a time.:cheers
Nevermind, I see you said you dont even have to do that
Moto_Joe 04-06-2009, 06:57 PM No we dont HAVE to show them, but most pawn shops have signs that say "all guns must be unloaded". We are not legally obliged to obey that. Only thing is if you DONT and they see it and ask you to unload it or leave, and you dont, then you are trespassing.
I only do it if I plan to take it out while I am there as a courtesy.

Texas as well FTW!!!!!
The only place I ever buy guns at where they walk the gun and ammo out with you is Academy. Everywhere else I have bought just hands it over to you and says have a nice day.:punk
Moto_Joe 04-06-2009, 07:45 PM Never bought a gun at accademy. but the dude just handed me the ammo........ that happened to fit the loaded firearm I was carying :lol........ over the counter :dunno.
Most places I go to dont even do that. Wal Mart, they check it out right there and put it in a bag at least. Most gun shops will check the ammo out before handing it to you. Bass Pro shops the ammo is on the floor...... so you just check out like normal with it :dunno

Not a store in MN that I know of does that. They sell you pistol ammo, and you walk away. The sporting goods in walmart is on the other side of the store, and you take the ammo, and go do your other shopping with it in your cart:spit The only thing walked up to a register is a gun itself.
