: Market comp for the SV? Not yet.....
XXjonesXX 12-18-2003, 11:55 PM The SV is HUGE success and partially so b/c of the fact that there are racing classes devoted to "little twins" mostly filled with SV's, 749/748's....here's what I don't get though. If Suzuki is so successful with the SV and the marklet niche that it fills why don't Yamaha, Honda, and Kawi make bikes that directly compete with the SV? Well according tohte mags now they now do, the Honda Hornet or 599, Yamaha's FZ6, and Kawi's ZX6, but they are all fours and while nice and all I don't see a racer buying a FZR to race with b/c he would just get an R6 and likewise with the other street fours by Honda and Kawi.....
Why are Honda, Yamaha and Kawi NOT making a 650cc or so V-Twin???? This would make for a very exciting racing class.....
gixxerfever 12-19-2003, 03:28 AM it's simple, while suzuki is the only one that make a little twin and us racers love them, etc, there isn't a high demand for them, sure they are great bikes but there isn't a true demand for them, the average new bike consumer is your typical poser that buys the bikes for looks and to be cool and to pick up ass, let's face it, the sv will not turn heads if you are at a stopsign.

I beg to differ, bro...I was one of the first folks in Raleigh to have an '03 SV650S, and it turned a *lot* of heads. People wondering wtf I was riding, etc. I sure as hell didn't get it to pose, but it was kinda nice making people do a double-take every once in a while. I do agree with you, wholeheartedly, though on the general poser population. It makes me sick to see a blinged out, stretched Busa that's all for looks. Ride the GD thing like it's meant to be ridden, or get something smaller. Can't take the power? Shouldn't have gotten the big dog, then...anyway, sorry to digress. You're right in that there's a select few who will buy a 650cc twin for it's amazing handling ability if it doesn't look like a pimp-mobile. Pretty damn sad, isn't it? <shrugs> We can always dream that one day the poser http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif will weed themselves out of the biker population and we'll finally be given proper respect. Damn, I digress again. What were we talking about? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/sleep.gif
kiriku 12-19-2003, 01:48 PM I have a 02'SV650S,and it does turn heads,it looks like a 4 cylinder crotch killer but it's a twin! And if looks could kill then maybe the geek that posted something about"not enough demand",should be killed on sit for the intense poser action going on!

gixxerfever 01-08-2004, 02:30 AM you guys are taking your love for the SV and taking it to hard I did own a TL1000R, an SV and many of GSXR but what i meant with my comments of demand and the bike making heads turn is the following:
take a poll and see where the demand is.....
gsxr's, along with rest of the sport class
How many times have you heard a young punk telling his friends "i want buy a bike, i'm gonna get me an SV!!!" Never you, however, have heard "shit i'm gonna get me a GSXR"
Point two, pull into the local startbucks with a GSXR, R1 what have you and count the peoples reactions and so on, now do the same on the SV(i'm not taljing about all the whooked up sv's )
the demand is just not there whether you like it or not,
sure i raced one sure i love it but other manufacturers don't give a flying fuck about what you and I think. they look at the stats and see where the demand is.
Face it you don't have thousands of sv's pre-sold before they even got to the sales floor
kiriku 01-08-2004, 08:36 PM You are an idiot, and have no clue as to what you are talking about so shut up and hit the floor crying!

klipsch_sv1k 01-09-2004, 07:14 AM i agree fever, its just not very poplar. but i don't mind, makes it more unique to those who inquire about it.

oh exactly when my race SV is on GSXR clothes and have non-race friends comeover thry all go ga-ga over it.. it sounds mean!!!! also when i had my TL people would be dumbfounded by it.... unfortunately neither was very popular in squidlyville (the ones that buy bikes by truckload)

poser action? You're the biggest poser I've seen on this site in a long time. You haven't even adressed the other thread where you jetted your fuel injection bike right after putting on the PC. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
kiriku 01-11-2004, 09:30 AM That is an old thresd num nuts,so piss off!

It may be old, but you're still a tool. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
kiriku 01-12-2004, 03:14 PM I am a tool.....Could you think of more than a four letter word?
SicShift 01-17-2004, 04:59 PM yes, you're a poser. (five letters) would you like six? Or do you want to bring your jetted fuel injected bike over here? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
SVS650Rider 02-20-2004, 03:12 PM It's absolutely true about the sqid market. There are alot of people who have to have the biggest and baddest no matter what. Hell, they think there are settling if they get a little GSXR600 and not the 1000 or busa. SV owners are usually smart new riders or vets who know whats needed for real life street use, or little twin racing.
Sorry to take away form the jetted fuel injection guys thoughts =)
