Hi! I want to lower my bike 3 inches in the rear. Should I also lower the front 3 inches also by sliding the fork tubes 3 inches up of the triple clamp? Is this relatively easy done? How would it handle? Has anyone done this? What dogbone should I buy that would lower it 3 inches. Which dogbone is the best? Thank you!

I don't think I would lower it more than 1" - imagine lowering it 2-3" up front, hitting a bump in the road and cracking your fairing and/or fender... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif However, I have lowered the front of my SV 20mm (4/5"" - along with raising the rear about 4" with another shock to make it more flickable http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/lick.gif) - no problems there.

Why do you want the bike lowered? To reach the ground better or for looks? If your legs are short, look into shaving the seat first (lots of posts about that on GdC), before you mess with the suspension. If it's for looks, don't do it - only good for drag racing... Lowering the bike BOTH front and rear will limit your ground clearance in turns severely - ever seen a cruiser going through a turn dragging all sorts of parts without really leaning? Well You will not crack the bottom with a 2 inch drop as far as kickstand goes you can not have it chpped but your bike will set up higher rather than a lean (possible to fall over so beware) You can buy adjustable kickstand and adjustable dogbones they have diffrent types some that are easier to adjust than others. If you get adjustable which makes sense to me atleast you can alway up the height of it. If you get that i suggest get the adj kickstand as well. This should set you back anywhere between 50 bucks to 200 bucks depending on what you want so You can drop it for your everyday riding or adventures to the strip and raise it back up for the Canyons

how tall are you ??? 3 inches is alot to lower your bike.
My 97 gixxer 600 is lowered 1.5 inches at the rear and 1 inch at the front. Im 5'2 and with my leathers and riding boots on I touch just fine.

And it doesnt handle like crap. it handles great, I also take the bike out to the track and it handles great there as well.

i got a 1, 2, and 3 inch pingel lower dogbone on mine.. mine is set at 1 inch and it's already too low.. i'm thinking of raising it back up.. my front is down 10mm or 1cm.. i had my kick stand cut and welded back on.. the guy who did the weld said the welding is stronger..

Dude. If yo lower the back of the bike more then front, it jacks up the handling of the bike. Makes it turn slow and crap...

I have the rear of my bike RAISED like 3/4" over stock, and the front about 2mm taller then stock. And it is great for getting on the gas.

I bet you have a hard time on the exit of turns. Like it wants to run wide. But if you are not a very fast rider you might not notice it...

ANyhow... I WOULD NOT do what you are talking about. Anyone that really knows there shit about bikes will tell you the same thing, if you lower it you are taking away ground clearacne, and if you lower the back more then the front you will push wide in the exit, and turn slow.

But what do I know???

I agree. I had my gsxr raised up 9mm in rear and dropped 5-6 mm in front. it dived into corners like a demon, geometry is all relevant with lowering you gotta watch for the sidestand and dragging stuff. try it out and if it works for you, great. John's right in what he said. but what do i know?

hehe bad geometry can hinder you from doing hard riding....

I gotta agree with everyone, after lowering a bike it feels like crap, because a buddy of mine lowered his srad 750, and it feels like crap compared to mine.
