So after 9 months I finally got back on the bike and jumped straight onto the track. The track photographer didn't do a very good job at taking pics yesterday but my friend took some very nice ones. :biggrin

I need to stop looking at these pics so I can refrain myself from going to the track for now! I'm dumping too much money into the bike right now to take the chance of totaling it at a track...

Tires, Brakes, Electrical: $911
Custom Seats:$150
Custom Paint: $300
Another helmet: $3-400
Leather Chaps: $400

Goodness... I'm depressing myself...

OP, great bike, and you looked great =]

wow i've never seen someone's rearset so far back. I can't even find your shifter in the pic. I know where it "should" be but all the black it's kinda hard to tell. Nice pics btw and nice helmet. That the new x-11 right?

Thanks for the compliment guys :cheers

The helmets an x-11 but the design is the discontinued kagayama. I managed to snag one of the last mediums up for $460. I actually liked the old design more than the new one.

The new one looks almost exactly the same, instead of the spiral thing its a shield, and I think the colors are a little darker.

I don't really have a picture of the bike by itself, but here's a better pic of it.

Hey Will I noticed your left puck was ground to nothing and the right was pretty fresh..................is there a reason for that?

Hey Will I noticed your left puck was ground to nothing and the right was pretty fresh..................is there a reason for that?
maybe because those are two different days and he changed pucks?

Hey Will I noticed your left puck was ground to nothing and the right was pretty fresh..................is there a reason for that?

There's only like 2 actual right turns at that track..... and they are both fairly slow speeds. And then there's a crap load of highspeed left handers that are really hard on the puck if you're not careful. I grounded my fresh Astars left puck down after the first session. So I slapped on my ugly but durable klucky puck for the rest of the day. :monkeyface

Looking good Will, I remember seeing you out there. Obviously didn't know who you were at the time otherwise I would've said "sup". Averaging in the 1:46's aint so bad after not being out for 9months either. Happened to have fastrack website open to event times on other browser, gotta check out the competition, lol. Your buddy got some good shots though. My brother has taken shots from similar areas as your friend and gets much better angles than CP. How many times can we look at ourselves coming out of the horseshoe or flicking into turn 4???? Next time tell your buddy there is a good spot looking directly into 12/13/14 you can get to between sessions as long as he stays behind wall and fence.

If only that were true. It was drizzling/misting most of the morning pretty much until 10minutes before the first session. Didn't mind it though, made the first session empty and a slower pace to help loosen up the pulled muscles in my lower back.

Thanks man, I wasn't very happy with my times I only managed a best of a 1:44 but good thing is I stayed fairly consistent with my lap times as you said averaging in the 1:46 range.

And I agree turn 12/13/14 would be a good place to take pictures, but IMO the BEST turn to take pictures would probably be the last turn going out onto the banking. Too bad there's no way to get out there to take pics.

And speaking of taking it easy, they had to tell us in L3 to back it down a notch because it was becoming a crashfest. I personally almost died 3 times that day. Powering out of turn 3 my rear tire spun, my rpm's shot up, and I was completely sideways but I stayed on the gas so when the bike snapped back over I stood up and the bike just wiggled like crazy from under me.

I'm going back either in April or May, let me know when you're going again and we'll pit next to eachother. :cheers

What's been your best time there? My best there was actually hit this Sunday with a 1:43.45 during the 11am session...I think I only hit that because my front brakes were spongey and could only use them so much so I was forced to drop it faster and later than I normally did. Had me puckered at first but I went in bled my lines and had Randy at Inhousesuspension dial in that new shock I had put in the rest of the day I was staying consistent in the low 1:44's. I need to add some rear ride height since I was muscling it into some of the corners and I know a few spots I can gain some time, it's just about putting my head down and rolling on the throttle a little better.

Not sure If I'll be heading there in April, we are going to try to hit up Pahrump w/ Socaltrackdays at the end of April. We normally end up pitted in the first garage next to Inhousesuspension/socaltrackdays trailers. I also may finally be getting myself to do the Pridmore StarSchool, at Miller no less, at the end of April. My buddy said I can put my bike in his trailer since he will probably be out there.

I'll definately let you know though, the more peeps to ride with the more fun. My friends were pussying out and not moving to level 3 although they were averaging 1:47/48s. Level 2 was the real crashfest, I rode with them at 3:20 right after our 3:00 session to follow my buddy and holly crap some of those guys still belonged in level 1. The closest I came to biting it was actually because of one of the fastrack "control" riders. I was coming out of 19/20 and was taking my normal line back onto banking and he tried to squeeze between me and another guy with inches to spare on my outside and looked at me and shook his head like i did the bad move.

Oh so you were in L3 too? My best time there was a 1:42 which was not bad at the time being my 3rd trackday ever but by now I SHOULD be well in the high 1:30's. Its pretty frustrating so I'm thinking about taking the california superbike school. And yea I heard Saturday L2 was a crash fest but on Sunday L3 was the group with the most incidents.

Some of the ama guys were riding pretty crazy out there that day, one of them passed me on the outside going into a turn with barely any room to spare before he either hit me or ran into the grass. I want to go again in April, but realistically I would say the one on May 10th. Are you going?

Man I was just about to say I'd probably do May 10th but looked at the calendar and that is Mother's Day. Being that I work, manager, in a restaurant and that is our bussiest day I probably won't be back to Fontana til June. I'll keep you posted if I take a random trip to Streets of Willow too. Kinda bumpy but fun little track.
