: *** Mike "MPD" a dear friend, has passed away ***
Grandevil 03-15-2009, 09:06 PM I just received a call from a mutual friend that Mike passed away after a heart attack.
I don't know what to say. Mike was a wonderful guy, a fucking great rider, and in general a good person. He would drop everything to help a friend. Those of you who never got to know him personally, I'm sorry.
He'll be missed. Honestly, GDC will never be the same again without Papa Bear.
Jason, you and your family are in my thoughts. Let me know if you need anything and please keep us all updated.
:crying

:crying I am so at a loss for words right now. Mike and I had been cutting up some trees earlier today... he ran the chainsaw while I did all the dragging and lifting, he drove to his house and grabbed a change of clothes, we went back to my house, he jumped in the shower and was eating dinner when I left to go out with my mother. He called me while I was out to ask me to bring home some more firewood. My stepfather called to inform me and my mother that Mike was on the floor and wasn't breathing after he called 911 and that he was being taken out in an ambulance and hell I beat the ambulance to the hospital. My mother and I got yelled at by the ambulance driver when he pulled up and we could see them with the breathing bag and them pushing on his chest trying to get him to breathe. After 45 minutes of trying... The came into the room and told us the news!!
We are all in shock right now. It's hard to believe someone who wasn't sick, didn't drink, do drugs, and was always willing to help anyone in need could possibly be gone at 34!!! SERIOUSLY WTF? It's just not right :( Tomorrow morning they are doing an autopsy to find out what caused it.
Mike was my brother and probably my best friend. He will be missed RIP Mikey :crying

Anytime I asked the Grizz anything, he was always serious first, sarcastic second. He did what he loved, and made sure that the community here was taken care of. To think he was one of the ones who kept the site the amazing way it is today, that enough makes this community in his debt.

THE SRADIATOR 03-16-2009, 12:19 PM As someone who has been mauled by the "grizzly" over the years, we certainly had our moments!
He doing what he believed best and me trying to understand my mistakes.
I came to realize that the grizzly was always watching as i'm sure he is right now.
I'm teary eyed as i type this though we never actually met.
At 34...a man too young to be taken from this earth!
My sympathies extend to his family members and loved ones as well as co-workers/site members here.

Thank you for posting that link. I singed the guest book. I was at a loss for words last night as I was reading this thread but when I clicked the guest book I felt as though I was talking to him directly and it somehow made it easier for me to express how I felt.
llbigbird 03-16-2009, 03:55 PM I have been thinking about this since I read it this morning. I was hoping to come back and find it was a bad joke. Words can't express how sorry I am to hear that this is real. I am sure I speak for alot of us when I say Grizz left us to soon and at least on GDC a big void will be felt. My prayers go out to his family and friends and a hope that you can get through this ordeal with the help of each other. While I do not know any of you personaly, I would be willing to talk as I went through a loss of a family member 2 weeks ago. I would like to say that it is nice to see the outpouring support by the GDC family

I have also had the opportunity to meet Mike in person and he was such a nice guy, a real joker, but sweetheart at the same time.
I was in shock on my drive into work this morning when I heard the news. I couldnt believe it, and I still dont.
Even though he banned me a shit load of times and brought out with him his portable ban button when he came to visit the crew, he was a great friend.
I dont know what else to say other that everyone, aspecially Jay and Melly Mell, hold your head, and call me if you need anything.

The Flesh 03-16-2009, 07:29 PM Mike was a true soul, one of a kind.
I joined GDC in 1998 and Mike was sometime shortly after that. For years I would talk to him on this website for 9-12 hours every single day. We laughed, cried, banned people and bled together with all the old skoolers.
I know Mike would have done anything for me as long as I asked. When I lost my job he was one of the first to help me with what was ahead for me. This comes from a guy in NH and I am in CO.
Mike I will miss you dearly. I quit coming to GDC a few years back for personal reasons but still kept in touch with Mike via Myspace.

Carnage 03-16-2009, 08:54 PM This thread is humbling. Shame on me for not having met the guy seeing as though I'm only an hour and a half or so away. This is just like a death in the family as many of us have been posting up here for years and years. All of us may have never met in person, but many of us do feel like we KNOW each other after hanging around here for so many years and sharing our different experiences. You closer guys knew him as Mike, but I knew him simply as MPD. He always made his mark around here. Whether it was talking shit, or just offering advice. Shit...we've had countless boston/nh jokes running. I just can't fathom the thought of a 30 some odd year old guy just going out for no apparent reason. Again, my thoughts are out. Jay, I feel for your bro and hope that you are strong during these hard times. :sad

I strongly suggest we do a auction or raffle, or hell just all chip in 20 dollars for some flowers for the family for this. I'll be the first to give up 20 dollars to that mans family.
Rest in Peace

He has a been long time riding buddy of mine for years, as well as one of my best friends. Words at this time cant even express what i really feel, Mike and i have been threw a lot together!

I will be at Deals gap the last week of April, for the Hayabusa.org spring bash, at witch time me and few friend will be adding his original Haga helmet the the Tree at the crossroads! I will post pics, after that is done!
Mike and i, have been to the gap several time in the last few years, we both enjoyed our selves to the fullest down there, and would have loved to lived closer just for the riding in the mountains!
Traveling the distance twice a year just to riding in the Smokey mountains was just a thrill for us.

Traveling the distance twice a year just to riding in the Smokey mountains was just a thrill for us.
I'll be right there with ya John :cheers I was also hoping we can set up a charity ride and donate all the proceeds to the American Heart Association in his name. I'll have Tim design some shirts and get them printed, if you think we can organize the ride. Let me know what you think John.
I'll see you tomorrow. Call me when you wake up

Grandevil 03-17-2009, 11:16 AM Will someone please repost the guestbook link and any links to donations/rides/charity events? I can't find it. Maybe a new sticky thread?
GixxerDragon 03-17-2009, 11:16 AM I have been a member for a long time with little posts. I sure as hell don't like making posts like this, especially for a strong member of the Gixxer.com family.
RIP Mike and God bless all those close to him.

soysauce021 03-17-2009, 12:05 PM I kind of had to explain this to someone the other day and felt fitting to post up as well...
It's weird to people who don't understand GDC when they see how someone can be saddened by the death of another person whom most of us have never met and only chatted with online. But they do not realize that GDC is more than just idle text on a screen. It is a family. Especially with the ones that have been here a while. One that Mike helped to build, grow and manage. We've grown up together and shared our highest highs and lowest lows together. We probably spend more time conversing on here with "friends" whom we've never met than with our regular friends in real life sometimes; therefore, we become closer than some friends who we see only weekly or monthly. With Mike's passing we lost a dear friend and sort of a Patriarch of the GDC family. You will be missed Mike, Grizz, MPD.

Even some people on here don't grasp it. And this isn't a knock on the newer members or anything like that. But the members that have been around a while that were part of the picture whoring threads of Mike's, the original bored threads, and the other random stuff that would happen, we all considered each other family. We may be 1000s of miles apart, but we are family. For instance a few weeks ago it was 2 AM my time and GixxerVixxen needed to talk to somebody. So she called. She knows she can do that, and I know I can do the same. Because of the family. Dysfunctional as hell, but still a family, even though of the old time members on the board, the only ones I have met are Mr Gixxer, Carpey750, and gsxr_paul, but that doesn't mean I don't consider the rest family.
soysauce021 03-17-2009, 12:38 PM totally agree Jon. :cheers
