Hi to all:

I have a '93 1100, I removed all bodywork to do some work, then re-installed it all. I had some problems with the wiring but I think I fixed it all. Problem is: riding in 5th get to 145-150 @ 8k to 9k then the bike seems to cut off. Like it hits a rev limiter. If I back off the throttle a bit it regains power, but twist it again and just loses it's push. Doesn't stutter just loses power.

Any ideas out there? I was told fuel filter, but dunno about this. I'm thinking electrical stuff, but can't seem to pin point this thing http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Double-check the fuel-lines from the petcock to the carbs - they can get "folded" or pinched very easily when you re-install the tank.

Also, there is a screen on the inside of the tank around the feed-tubes for the OEM petcock. ...it's pretty easy to inspect that, just remove the tank, drain it, and remove the two M6 fasteners that secure the petcock and pull it out. ...be careful when you "break it loose" that you don't tear the o-ring-gasket-thingie between the base and the tank.

...another thing that you may want to give a try is to set the petcock to the "PRI" position before you set out on a top-speed run. If that solves it, then you'll need to look at the vacuum-line itself, and also the diaphragm inside the petcock.

All else there is to check really is the air-filter.

Certainly sounds more like the bowls running dry than anything else. Would the bike pull all the way up in revs prior to the work you did, or is this the first time you've tried the high-speed runs?

It happens only in 5th. It used to rev all the way to redline before I removed everything to get painted...

im having a similar problem with my 94 750, but im not getting anywhere close to 150.-

once i get around 8k+ in 2nd or above, the bike stutters like a fuel-cut.

Ill inspect the lines and try a new vac line. petcock was just replaced.

once i hit 8k, even when slowly getting on the throttle, itll jump around to redline and "stutters" around until i upshift, then same thing on next gear.

Sounds like your clutch is fucked and then its hitting the rev limiter. :cheers

Not bad..

i rarely read dates...i just try not to clutter up the search with more threads. it turns out the guy i bought it from decided that itd be a good idea to use a .25'' vacuum hose which was 1. too big for the petcock/carb, and 2. pinched from the way he had it set up. 3/16'' fixed that and now the bike runs great. thanks to craigslist im becoming very proficient with fixing this thing.....btw i sit about 8 feet from my computer screen so i though 2003 said 2008
