As requested here is a couple of pic's (the only two I have) of the Airtech upper I had with the PIAA lights installed. Basically what I did is take masking tape and cover the front of the fairing with it(the area the lights would appear). Then I made a grid on that tape with 1/2" spacing so that I knew the headlights were semetrical on each side. The PIAA lights I used had a bracket On them and I used the bolt hole located on the bracket to mount to the bottom of the upper fairing (the area above the front fender). Measuring the PIAA lights from foot to center of bulb I had how high I needed to cut the holes. All I had to do was determine how closely spaced I wanted them (keeping in mind the Graves bracket of corse)......After I marked the masking tape for where I wanted the lights to appear I used a hole saw that was the same diameter as the lense on the PIAA lights to cut the holes. After that I placed the lights where they belonged then marked the hole on the bottom portion of the fairing so I knew where to drill the hole to mount the lights to the upper. At no time were the Piaa lights attached to the Graves bracket, the lights were light enough to be supported on the Upper fairing bottom. I thought this project went very easy.......

I had a setup like this years ago but with one light (I love the suzuki 8 hour bikes - where I got the idea from). I made the hole for the light in the upper and then took the upper and the graves bracket mounted in it to a welder and he made me a bracket that attached the light to the graves so I could remove the upper and still have the light in place. I still have this stuff laying around here somewhere, I might reinstall it. I had a problem with the Maryland State Police about it and they gave me a "repair order" and I switched it back to stock.

Nice work you did on that! I wouldn't of even tried putting two lights in mine. One was a pain in the butt enough for me!

Just an FYI to anyone thinking about doing this........ I never went to the trouble of connecting the lights the correct way.... they were either both on or both off. Any inspector would most likely not pass this upon inspection.

Sometimes you just have to know the right people....... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your right about that.. Here in Maryland they told me that I needed a High and a Low beam light or some other arrangement. The inspector said if I had two lights (like your fairing) and I had one on for LOW and both on for HIGH I would pass. I thought it was wierd myself. But Maryland is a pretty screwed up state anyway..

Looks damn nice though! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info, I want to do something like that with mine. I have a carbon fiber upper that makes the fiberglass feel heavy http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif seriously I think I could shed 10lbs off the front end by switching to the cf upper & pia lights. As far as the legality...... I'm sure it's not legal as pia lights are not DOT approved driving lights. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
