: Exhaust on 1995 GSXR750?
DynaMight 12-03-2003, 01:52 AM Hi,
I just have a quick question.
I bought my bike with a Micron Can and I dont really like it so I'm thinking about getting another one, This made me think. I recently saw a 1994 750 which had the standard can on it (Or atleast it looked like it), It was a all in one unit (Endcan was welded onto the pipe, So you'd need to chop it to remove the endcan) whereas mine has a connector with 3 bolts.
So is mine the standard one? or has the prev owner fitted a half system unit?
Which cans do you recommend? I'm not looking for a full race system, Just a nice endcan which I can bolt on. We have a few to choose from here in the UK.. Laser, Scorpion, Motad, Blueflame etc etc.
Thanks for your help
GixxerRacer317 12-03-2003, 02:00 AM Got any pics of your bike? The only watercooled 750 that came with a bolt on end can was the SP version..... but I thought that version was only a German market bike.
DynaMight 12-03-2003, 02:06 AM Best I have atm is on http://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/95gsxr750/
Closer ones will have to wait until later when I've finished work.
FastCat 12-03-2003, 04:28 PM I can't really tell from looking at the photos... but is it possible that that's a full-system Micron exhaust and they just happened to use a bolt-on can on that model of the full-system?
DynaMight 12-03-2003, 05:04 PM I just took a better pic.

That help any?
Kaneda 12-03-2003, 11:36 PM Like Fastcat said, it's likely a full Micron system that happens to use a bolt on. I have a full VnH SS2R on mine, and I think it sounds great. It slips on to the midpipe. Good luck!
DynaMight 12-04-2003, 12:41 AM So the stock exhaust system has the endcan welded on then?
Well that kinda limits my choices for diffo endcans, I guess I could use any can assuming it has 3 bolts and is the same diameter. Anyone know the pipe diameter for the endcan?

I'm not sure that I understand what you're asking...
There is no "standard" that I am aware of, but many manufacturers use 2" O.D. (or very close to it) pipe/tubing for the mid-pipe where the endcan usually attaches. I know that D&D, Hindle, V&H, and Yosh all makes cans that have a clamp-on or spring-attached, spigot-fit can that will work with 2" O.D. pipe.
Surely you're not asking US what the diameter of YOUR can is? LOL
DynaMight 12-04-2003, 03:36 AM Sorry I am bad at explaining things that I dont have much experience in.
What I'm trying to get at is... I want a replacement endcan but since all cans designed for the 750W will (I assume) clamp, spring-attached etc which requires the original exhaust cut. I dont really want to cut off the 3 bolt header that I already have on there so if I can find another endcan (maybe designed for another bike) which has fits perfectly to the 3bolt header and has the same diameter pipe, It would work and maybe give me more choice of endcans. I was wondering what diameter pipe all the top manufactors use in the endcan?
I hope that makes more sense http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
duckboy 12-04-2003, 04:32 AM That flange looks like it might take an SRAD style can. I think that's what you're asking. Best bet- borrow one or buy one on ebay. If it doesn't fit, sell it for what you bought it for.
Garvey2003 12-04-2003, 06:50 AM Here another one Ive got a GSXR750ws 1995 but the rear can is a Remus! Too load and to many tickets! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But the can is attached by 2 springs. is this an orginal one.
I cant seem to find any on ebay here in the UK and my mates all have the SRAD gixxers. so any suggestions? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/idea.gif
Bobbychet 12-04-2003, 01:06 PM Yosh and D&D use 2" pipe right Fastcat? they seemed to mate up anyways when we did our compatibility test with the yosh can and the D&D pipes.

I think that the actual, precise measurement would come up to like 1 63/64" ...but yeah, V&H and 2bros use the same sizing for their cans/midpipes. As do, I suspect, all of the aftermatket systems that use the srping-retaining setup.

It sounds like you have the original pipe work so you should be able to fit any aftermarket can designed for the 750w.
There are quite a few companys in the UK that do aftermarket endcans for the 750W, Easiest way is too checkout www.mandp.co.uk (http://www.mandp.co.uk) then goto the shop, choose bike specific search, Theres loads in there. if you hunt around there are meny more.
As for me, I guess I will have to goto a local breakers/big bike shop and see what matches up or maybe see if I can find a second half exhuast system.
Javier 12-08-2003, 10:03 PM I have the original can from that bike. It has three bolts that attach it to the pipe. If you want it pay the shipping on it and it's yours. It fit the 600 and 750. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
DynaMight 12-09-2003, 03:28 PM Where abouts are you mate?
Since you seem to know more about the exhaust, Can I ask a few questions.
Is it the original stock can?
Is the 3 bolt header a stock unit? or aftermarket?
Thanks

V&H uses a 2 1/8 OD at the slip-on on their CBR900RR full system. Guess how I know? A friend just fell and *destroyed* the CF canister.... looking for a replacement now....
FastCat 12-10-2003, 11:10 AM I suspect that some of the different systems use the larger midpipes/endcans... but I have a V&H ss2r from a ZX6, an 2bros from a VFR, a D&D from a gsxr, and a Hindle on my GSXR and they all are interchangeable on the different 2" mid-pipes. Bobby's Yosh can fits the 2" midpipes too, so I'm guessing that 2" is as close as it gets to "standard" ?
Bobbychet 12-10-2003, 06:42 PM Yeah so there! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
DynaMight 12-16-2003, 04:41 AM I'm learning more info now. It seems the exhaust is from a Stock '94 750 which were designed for France and Germany, I guess the prev owner replaced it for some reason.
Local Bike shop have no problem stocking loads of exhausts for it, So it's all good.
Thanks for all your help anyway.
flaco 12-16-2003, 05:06 AM Some more info: yosh race slip-on for 01/2/3 gsxr1000: The mid-pipe starts at 2" and expands to 2 1/4 muffler inlet, reducing then again to 2" at the muffler exhaust....

...hmmm... sounds like 2-stroke expansion-chamber kinda thing. I wonder how much diff it really makes? ...I've been under the impression that as long as it's not a "bottleneck" that anything that happens on the downstream side of the collector is irrelevant?
flaco 12-16-2003, 10:39 AM Dunno.....
But I can tell you that the slip-on alone made about 6-7hp (if my memory doesnt fails) on the gsxr1000, so I'd say it works......
Thats the exhaust I'm using btw....
Garvey2003 12-20-2003, 10:30 AM You guys said that my pipe and can looks like the orginal. I ordered a new can for my bike from Busters online for my year etc but when it turned up it had bolt attachments?.
mine is a slip on with 2 springs. Ive now been told that the whole exhaust has been changed to the Remus Grand prix system.
Had a look around but can only find this attachment on Yammy R1's... would this work? as I have found one for only £30. Micron.
