gixxer soldier 02-02-2009, 07:37 PM hi every one
What gas tank will fit on a 01 tl 1000 r.is the tl1000s the same tank.also what years gas tanks will fit on a tl1000r.will a gsxr 1000 tank work on it.also what forks fit on a tl1000r and best place to find them. Does Any one know where to find a nice gas tank at any one selling one.I am asking for a friend please help us out thanks.
Misfire 02-10-2009, 06:18 PM The TLS and TLR tanks are different. Any year TLR tanks will fit any year TLR. A gsxr tank will not fit a tlr.
The best forks for the TLR are TLR forks.
Best place to look is ebay, tlplanet.com or tlzone.net

Yea, I'm the same Misfire. It looks like Doug will be out for a couple more months with his hand injury from his MSR crash last year so it's just been me and Tye. If you wanna come down for a ride sometime just give me a shout. Once it warms up we'll be riding most every weekend.

Misfire 02-19-2009, 12:18 PM I'm not sure of which crash you saw on youtube. I wadded the TLR on video and Doug wadded the KTM on video. I had a video of Jasen running me off the track that was pretty good but I recovered and didn't go down.
My TLR crash earned me a broken right foot and torn miniscus in my left knee. It's all good now though..
We had a few "crash" vids out there.:biggrin

kmkrider 02-19-2009, 01:25 PM damn:scared..u n jasen bumping plastics:punk..that good all healed...the one i seen some wadded wide in a turn...the bike behind had the tank camera on...
Misfire 02-19-2009, 02:26 PM Yea that was me crashing the TLR. Tye was running a helmet cam. That was my first time on the track with the new Bitubo suspenson and the bike was pushing wide. I was working wiht a suspension tech to get it worked out but crashed before getting it done.

kmkrider 02-19-2009, 03:45 PM man..i hate to see a tiller down...that one reason i cant bear to put mine on the track...pluse i know right now its way to much for me....does the tech there on track days or a buddy?
Misfire 02-19-2009, 07:18 PM Yea, wadding the TLR up wasn't on my short list of things to do but I don't let it keep me from having a good time. My new 08 gsxr 750 was on the track less than 24hrs after I bought it. A lot of guys at the track got a kick out of the paper plates on the track. The suspension guy is a guy that goes to trackdays. Doug is pretty good too.
Here is a couple pics of the TLR right before I crashed it.

kmkrider 02-20-2009, 10:42 PM man the tiller looks gooood love tha rims .:drool..u have it up and running again? and yea I would have been like :blink if i seen a bike with paper tags on it at track days
Misfire 02-21-2009, 09:08 AM Yea, I got it all fixed up, rode it for a while and then sold it a few months ago.
I miss the TL but I love my GSXR. The TLR is a great street bike but the GSXR is soooooo much better on the track.

kmkrider 02-24-2009, 02:47 PM have yall hit a track days yet??...i got a few email from the one around here (Slidell HW 51) and i think this weekend is the first open day...
Misfire 02-24-2009, 03:23 PM No we haven't done any this year yet. That one around Slidell is ECR and is a blast. I've ridden it a few times. I belive they are doing open weekends that the track sponsors. It is a bit different than a standard trackday.
If you go let me know!

kmkrider 02-26-2009, 01:37 PM Thats the one i want to go too..never been...i live northeast of it..its not that far from me...gota get my motor dropped in first though...woop...woop finally got a 98FI for my 96carbed...but yea man i would like to ride with someone thats already been on it...i heard it was kinda narrow bc it use to be a cart track...is really that narrow??
Misfire 02-26-2009, 01:44 PM It isn't narrow at all. It is a full size racetrack. ECR is pretty challenging and the 2000' back straight will allow you to go fast enough that the sharp left hander at the end feels pretty damn narrow.
.
kmkrider 02-26-2009, 03:24 PM i cant wait to check it out..ive been browsing the internet for some more local tracks......how much did it cost you for your session at ECR??
Misfire 02-26-2009, 08:17 PM I ridden there a few times with Ride Smart Track Days. It cost 100 bucks for the entire day. That usually equates to 6-8 sessions.
.
kmkrider 02-26-2009, 10:30 PM Damn thats not to bad...thought it would be closer to 200 bucks
