Hey everyone. I want to do a comparison of jet kits. I have a 93 GSXR 750 with a Dynojet stage one installed at the moment. Full micron exhaust. I want to put my old Factory pro kit back in and do a dyno run and see the difference. The problem is I drilled the slide holes for the dynojet kit and am wondering what the affect might be if I reinstall the Factory pro kit parts in these carbs. Anyone done this before? I would imagine the larger slide holes allow the slides to raise faster??

Also, with the dynojet kit installed my bike idles smooth as silk till it warms up. Then the idle raises to around 2,000. It won't dip before that even when I apply throttle. It will rev up and then back down to 2,000. It only does this when it is hot. When it's cold the idle is below 1,500 and smooth. Seems to heat up fast setting in traffic idleing faster.

Thanks for the input!

Hold on! You sure you just 'drilled' the slide holes? I bet you were supposed to tap the hole and install a small plastic restrictor in there!

The restrictor will make the slide move slower, hence wearing the jet needles less...

But yes, you can just switch to factorypro (provided you do change the emulsion tubes back to OE) even if you drilled the holes.

In fact, I'd love to see dyno charts of such comparison.....

OOPS! Yep, you're right! 93-5 gsxr750 kits just enlarge the slide holes....

Anyway, factory kit should work without any trouble...

That's what I'm going to do then. I'll get it all together and show the comparison.

You can play around with the spring, and/or the slide-holes (drill them out/fill them with epoxy) and it will change the way that the slide behaves... I dunno what, exactly, it does as far as faster or slower slide-movement, but it will show up as a problem when you roll the throttle on (relatively hard, but not necessarily WOT) from 3 or 4K or so if you don't have it right. At least, that's been my experience. ...the Factory kits suggest filling one or both of the slide-holes with epoxy (I've used JB-weld with success) to dial in the way that the bike accelerates through the mid-range.

Cool advice FastCat! Any idea on my 2,000 rpm idle when hot problem? I bet it's the damn fuel screws. I have them at 2.5 turns out now like the directions called for. Also - my choke hardly works. All the plungers come out of the carb bodies, but it doesn't choke up right like it used to. I bet there is something clogged inside these things! And I have them a pretty good cleaning. Pain in the butt!

That's a new one on me, but I'd be looking at the choke circuit for sure... one thing that I have seen is that sometimes, if the person installing the jet-kit isn't paying attention, that rod can get installed with the clevis-portion over only three of the four plungers... what happens is that the fourth clevis acts like a stop and keeps the other three choke-plungers partially-open all the time. I'd definitely take a close look at that whole arrangement, and maybe see about replacing the seals and stuff in the plunger-assemblies. Other than that, I don't have any bright ideas...

Good advice! I'm always thankful! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'll let you know how it comes together when I get them off the bike (hopefully tomorrow if the wind calms down a little)
