it all depends on how much you know about working out. but, if your considering a personal trainer i would imagine that you are looking for help from an expert. so yes, its a good idea. as far as how often per week, im not sure what to tell ya. it depends on what your looking to achieve, and how much money you looking to spend.

Yello there.....couple of possibilities here. Depends on where you work out. Private gym or chain like Golds? Private places can be trouble, in that their trainers may not be properly certified. As an APEX and NASM certified trainer at a local World Gym, I can say that an APEX program will get you a TON of results. Personal Training is not a waste of money if it is holistic, and personally geared toward your eating habits and workout tendencies. A trainer should be there to push you, be a second set of eyes, and keep you from hurting yourself while getting the best results. Your gym should offer your a free eval and trial....even if it's not advertised, just ask. If you have any questions about training, plateaus, or stuff like that, please feel free to PM me, I'd love to try and help you for free! LOL Hope it helps!

Depends on many things: What you know already, what your goals are, what sort of motivation you want, how much motivation you need etc.
I don't use a personal trainer, but I know my way around a gym well/am pretty self-motivated about weights. Some folk repsond better to a trainer, so that's cool too.

Hire a personal trainer to give you the base knowledge you need. I see so many people in the gym year after year and still look like crap. Learn the right way to do things and get an education on nutrition. Note: most competitive bodybuilders train people on the side, who knows the body better than a advanced bodybuider?
