: Meet the Mini-Kahr
torquemaniac 01-11-2009, 01:06 PM I'm a huge Kahr Arms fan. Just found they have a new pocket 380 model (http://www.kahr.com/PA-1_380_p.html) out. Here's one of the first reviews (click pic):

gsxr313 01-11-2009, 01:28 PM Nice. Haven't heard of it yet. It looks to be quite a bit smaller than the PM-9.
torquemaniac 01-11-2009, 02:18 PM Yeah - I think it just came out. Looks to be palm size, perfect for pocket carry. Retail is ~$700 though. Ouch.
mdillon 01-11-2009, 02:50 PM never shot kahr before, i would go with http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?model=24 just because i love the 1911 style

Wow, that is pricey. The range I shoot at gives you a membership when you buy a pistol. Any pistol over $500.00 and you get 3 months. I might see about ordering one of these. The 3 month membership would offset quite a bit of the cost of the pistol.
torquemaniac 01-11-2009, 05:02 PM I'm trying to figure out how to budget one myself. Looks to be a sweet little pistol.
4.9" x 3.9" x .75" .380 ACP
WJGSXR 01-11-2009, 09:48 PM Meh. I would get a kel-tec for less than half the price.

I'm not one to put price above protection.
I looked at the Kel-Tec's. And the Rugers.
Kahr beats 'em both for pocket carry profile & performance.
mdillon 01-11-2009, 11:11 PM u plannin on gettin a pocket holster for it? im pretty sure but i had to ask

Pass.

ditto, kel-tec's are so unreliable. who wants to buy a gun that has a recall? not me. however; that kahr is a sweet piece. only problem is that you can only fire high end precise ammo or it too will jamb up.

Not sure of a Kel-tec P3AT recall (the Ruger LCP has had a recent massive recall--the Kel-tec copy.) But I won't argue the reliability with the P3AT. I was 'lucky' to get a good one.
The Kahrs require a 200 round break-in. I've shot everything from PP ammo to my own personal, low powder reloads without any issues. Anectodal, I know, but I frequent other boards and hear much of the same. The steel framed Kahrs are definitely more reliable, but Kahrs in general are very good guns. I've read many instances where people get rid of their PM-9s & PM-40s because they can't sling-shot a round into the chamber (even though it shoots perfectly fine) where it says plain as day in the owner's manual to use the slide release. There are problem weapons with all manufacturer's and we all know, bad news spreads faster than good.
Suzuki Chelly 01-13-2009, 09:18 AM I'd like to get some trigger time in on one, give it a good comparison. It's definitely pricey.
I need to test my Kel-Tec out now that I've worked on it some. I realize that some of my previous problems stemmed from it not being "broken in." I've since done some fluff & buff and put in a new hammer spring (replaced a broken one) and a new hammerblock that corrects any potential for a "short stroke" failure.
My .38 is still my main backup piece though.

peerock 01-15-2009, 08:49 AM IMO kahr is garbage i have the pm9 and the only good thing about it is its easy to conceal and very light weight. ive have numerous failure to feed along with numerous stove pipes and when i go to put in a fresh mag the slide release would fail and thats with +p ammo.all my friends have nothing but bad results with the gun, i would no way shape or form spend $700 for a kahr .380...i have a sig p230 in .380 and love it. but thats my 2 cents.

Have you sent it back to Kahr? Their customer service is top notch IMO. I've had two PM-9s and one PM-40. One of the PM-9s I bought used (and I soon realized why. it was having the same problems yours is.) I sent it off to Kahr and had it back within a week and had zero issues after that. They replaced the mag release (and even gave me a brand new back-up one as they're plastic and wear and they also gave me a few mag release springs.) The stove pipe issues I believe they polished the feed ramp or removed some burrs, I can't remember now. But as I said in my previous posts, there are some bad ones out there (as with many guns/manufs.)
08 GSX-R750 01-15-2009, 10:45 PM Damn... thats a nice piece...to bad its not on the California legal gun roster!
