i think he is asking for dealer invoice cost, not msrp. being that the msrp stayed pretty close to what it was for last years, i would assume dealer invoice cost to be within $100 or so from the 03's. but what that is, i have no idea. sorry.

And if someone walks in and you try to take them for a ride they should pimp slap you down the street http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/spit.gif

When buying new bikes, cars ect it's always good to go in with as much info as you can including dealer cost if you can find it.

I never take anyone for a ride...that is immoral in my book. I try to get the best deal I can for my customers, because if they don't buy...I don't make squat. I would much rather get someone a great deal and make a little money than to watch them walk out the door and buy somewhere else. What do you do for a living?...I sell motorcycles to make money, to pay for my house, to pay for my bike, and to pay for my food. It is all percentages when to look at the price of things. You think the grocery stores don't double the prices for food compared to what they pay for it?...but you have to have food and they don't negotiate, so you buy it without an dismay. But the key is you have to have it, you don't have to have a motorcycle, and there is not nearly as much mark up in the motorcycle business as there is in the car business. But everyone has to make a living, I am sure you work hard for your money, and your company is making a profit. Otherwise the company would go under. So don't preach to me that a dealer trying to make money on a motorcycle is wrong. Buying a motorcycle is supposed to be fun, not a hassle, don't make it one! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif

So let me ask this, let us say that you leave the business, would you try to pay MSRP, OR would you negotiate with the dealer. If you can get a bike for 9000 instead of 9500 isn't it worth the hassle in the long run. . oh yeah I thought the MSRP was 8000, am I wrong?

He isn't saying that a person shouldn't negotiate with the dealer. He said that he tries to give people good deals. His point is that people need to realize that a dealership isn't there as a hobby, its a business. I could go on and on....so could this subject so I'm done with it.

And NO, MSRP is not $8000 on an '04 GSXR750. That is closer to a dealer cost or below.

yeah that was a typo, sorry about that, I meant dealer invoice. I see where he is coming from, but I would like a bit of honesty when they are dealing with me. . Don't tell me that you are saving me money by only charging me 9500.

I understand you try to make money and you should. I never disagreed with the idea you need to make money but some dealers start fucking people with BS charges like 200 for doc fee's, 2-300 for title ect.

It sounds to me like you are a pretty cool guy I would buy a bike from you if I lived near your dealership. Happy to hear there are a few honest dealers still left http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

glad to see another salesperson with some morals. i agree totally, most people don't realize that we have bills to pay as well and by selling bikes that is how we do it. our dealership here has never charged any strange fees that have no purpose, we have only ever charged a $60 doc fee and tax and that is it. we have quite a few dealers in our area that advertise a really cheap price and then charge everything under the sun to get prices right back up to retail without the customer even thinking they are getting ripped. we are competing against some michigan dealers that are just scandalous also. lots of fees, and misrepresented advertising that you can't read the fine print on.
