Hey guys I've been looking into getting a dirt bike and I stumbled upon an 07 Orion 250cc that is going for what seems to be cheap (900$). Owner claims to have only 10hrs on it since new. I honestly have never heard of Orion before, can anyone else me out? Would this be a good bike to hit the track with and to putz around???? Thanks!

dont bother with that chinese crap man.. stick with honda, suz, yam, or kaw for the most part.. ktm is decent as well, but i prefer the big 4.

Coming from a guy that owns alot of dirt toys. Stay away from orion. For an extra 100-200$ you can buy a nice Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki 125cc 2 stroke. Stick to the name brands where you can find microfiches for parts and so forth. You can easily fine a name brand dirtbike for 1000$ I do all the time. Dont be a fool and let this guy sell you a lemon.

I agree. I've made the mistake of the chinese bikes before. I can't wait to sell this one I have and get something more reliable.

Most of those Chinese bikes aren't even liquid cooled, chances are a 125cc from a reputable manufacturer would be making more power, and have better components. My friend bought a chinese pit bike for his son, and it is "alright", if you don't mind tightening up every bolt on it after you ride it, or continually adjusting the brakes and chain.

+100 to what the other posters said! Screw the Chinese stuff. You can easily end up being screwed for the money you're spending when you need a part & can't get it. Plus the performance & reliability do not compare either. Jap or Ktm all the way. :cheers

Yeah I agree with everyone else here. For that kind of money you can find a good used bike. I found mine cheap cause of it's age. It's a '86 Suzuki RM125. Picked it up for $500. Runs perfect, looks in great shape for it's age, and only needing a rear tire. It's been fun to ride and cheap as well. I know you can get something newer for a decent price. Just be patient.

Stay away from anything Chinese. Parts support is a nightmare for those things and their quality just ain't on par with the Japanese.

yeah forget that chinese junk. my next door neighbor bought a 90 cr 125 for 600 bucks and it runs great. totally reliable and fast.

for a few hundred more you can get a 250 two stroke (2 strokes rule, 4 strokes are great too but are very expensive to maintain).

I bought an 02 yz250 for 1800 on a fresh rebuild. super super fast.

The last few days have me back in here just to say it once again. Fuck chinese bikes.

I bought a chinese pitbike that was already swapped over to motard tires. I figured for $300, it wouldn't be a bad way to try out the sport. There wasn't much track prep needed to race, and it already had the tires, which would cost well over $100 brand new.

Puttering around the guy's neighborhood, it was fine. So I bought it.

I got it home to find out that the casting on the rear hub had broken. One of the previous owners had thru-bolted the sprocket one since the cast holes had broken. It held together for putting around, but moved around and jumped the chain when I twisted the throttle.

I figure no big deal, get a new one from eBay. Eventually I found one that'd fit, then the company didn't have it in stock. Finally I get one, only to find out that the bolt pattern is not the same as the sprocket. Then there's a whole other mess finding a sprocket to fit.

After I finally get a wheel and sprocket that fit and get it all back together, I find out that the carb has gummed up in the short bit of time that it sat. Not only did it gum up, it was corroding inside because of the inferior grade of metals that were used in the casting.

I've been in carb hell over the last several days, fucking with it every day before work. I finally have it so it'll run, but sometimes it stlll pukes fuel out the air filter. I should have thrown a match on it one of the many times that it overflowed fuel all over itself.

I've got a pit bike that I hand built from eBay parts, and that thing has been pretty damn solid. I re-laced the wheels to 12" and all sorts of stuff on it, and that bike's been great. The problem is, I left it up in N. Georgia with my parents because my mom wanted to ride it this summer.

I picked this bike up, and it's been nothing but problems, what a mistake.
