I have an 02 gsxr 1000 and picked up an 05 motor. I was looking to see if any one knew if it would fit before I drop my motor and try.

nope...pretty sure frames are different.

yes and no.. depends how much you want to do and how good you are at stuff vs having to pay somebody to do it for you.
the frames are differnt, but the eng cases are basicly the same, but also the fuel injection, wire harness and ecu are differnt so your looking at a bit of swapping . so if you dont have the harness, ecu, gage cluster etc. from the 05 you are going to need some parts as well as a little fabbing here and there
just went thru this on my buddies 02 600.. put a 05 600 motor in it. most of the mounts were usuable but had to fab a little, but the injection harness , ecu , cluster and al needed to be swapped from a 04/05. so after ebaying all that suff and making it all fit in the 02.. it now runs and works mint

correct.. it will not.. the fuel injectors and ecm are totally differnt

Have 05 1k in my 00 750 and yes its possible just use all 05 parts including handlebar switches. Motor bolts in on the rear motor mounts the head bolts will not work. You can not use the hybrid mounts either. i have pictures

You will need the airbox(05) as well.

I am not sure about the 1k but I did a 02 600 to a 05 750 and I am using all of my stock stuff. I had to mod the ignition because they are different but other than that used my 600 throttle bodies and everything....

I would think you could use your 02 TBs on the 05 engine.....:dunno

NO!! The spacing is different on the throttle bodies. He has to use 05 throttle bodies aswell.
