I know we all have different taste and originality and its all good otherwise it would be a really boring world but I just dont get some things... Sorry about the quality of the pics, I took them with my phone..

I just wanted to show a few things that I just shake my head at.. Seen this bike with the ape hangers and watched the Ninja crash today at the park.. Same park that had the Big Girl on the Busa I posted the other week..

The first thing is the dumb ass "Ape Hangers" I just dont get them.. Theres no way that can be comfortable with your arms a foot above your head. Not to mention the guy on this one had to literally lift himself up on the little running boards to turn..

:dunno :scared :dunno

The other thing is why the hell do Squids buy nice new bikes for their first bike? Then they try to do all the stuntin and crazy stuff like they have been riding forever..

The guy on the new Ninja ( it had 744 miles) was trying to do a burnout because another rider had just done one..

He rolls along about 10 mph, grabs the front brake and locks the throttle wide open just short of the rev limiter, the bike starts to spin and he sits down!! It starts to come up with him and he panicks still near wide open throttle and starts to stand up, the bike spins sideways and does a weird high side wheelie then flips over throwing him off.

It trashed the plastic on the left side for sure and busted the casing puking oil all over the place. He had his slides screwed to the plastic.. Mirror was trashed, clip ons bent, turn signals broke. You can see whats left of the oil dripping under the bike..

Thank god he was geared up for starbucks, his jacket took some rashing down into the pads, knees into the pads and helmet broke the shield mount on one side and cracked it across the mouth guard..

Just makes me shake my head and wonder what are they thinking.....

Thats the only reason I'm afraid to ride down here in Atlanta. I've seen the way people in their cages drive down here, and I've seen more motorcycle-related deaths in the 4 months I've been here than my 5 years in Ohio (where I'm from).

Have you ever seen a bike towed or ticketed because it had ape hangers? How about an improper license plate? We've all heard about the license plates. In Indiana at least, the handlebars can not be more than 15" above the seat. It's a safety thing. You'd think the cops would be more attune to a big safety hazard than a technicality of license plate display. There's your objectivity!

Because bling is cool and protective gears are not.

Now, if they make blinged up gear, it's a different story...

I really don't get the Harley mentality. Seems like they are willing to go to the extreme for impracticality and poor performance.

i do not typically like ape hangers however, to answer your question. back when harley riders use to be badasses riding around on their bikes snorting blow, raping girls and robbing people. unlike today when Dr. smith goes for a nice sunday ride with his CEO buddies. To help keep these guys out of small towns locals would take fishing line drape it across streets pulling the bikers off of their bikes. So the Ape Hangers were designed to cut that string instead of it catching their throat.

Are you serious about the fishing line, that's some funny shit.

In Washington state it is illegal for the handlebars to be above the shoulders. They must be level or below the rider's shoulders when seated on the motorcycle....

Yet I see them all the time, and they never get pulled over for it.

However, the cops will stop a sport bike for too small of mirrors, not having 2 mirrors (WA requires 2), license plate location, the list goes on and on. :shifty

I never knew the true reason for ape hangers, until I heard that story... good point.

In GA, it's 15" from the seat, and I see it abused only a few times, but it's always the same bike with the same shirtless ape hanging off them.

Why did the squid do what he did? 'Cause he had to be stuntin' like his daddy.:squid Check the chromed spike grips.

And keep the pics from that hangout coming... Hours of online entertainment from just that spot.

I dont see how it could be comfortable, i would think that your hands would fall asleep or at least get cold if you held them up that high while riding.

I need to get me a set of them chrome grips for the track bike.:monkeyface
