The biggest difference with this bike was the fact that it’s not a single seater but a double seater. The RR and the LTD were real single seaters.

The marketing flash in 1994 was: begin your racing, prepare with a genuine Suzuki full-blood.

The bike corresponded to the 1994 FIM- rules for the superbike- and the endurance- worldchampionship series.

More differences:
- magnesium cylinder head
- special made lighter light-unit
- a blue coloured front fork with thin-walled 43mm inverted tubes,
- both fork-bridges were lighter,
- lighter wheels,
- smaller build-in battery,
- rare-metal headerpipes,
- rare-metal end-can,
- both parts, headerpipes & end-can, had a different diameter
- cockpit integration in front plastic,
- engine hangup on frame top,
- 6-piston brake calipers in front from Tokico, coming from 1100ccm bike,
- front fork inverted tube grew up from 41mm to 43mm,
- lighter swing arm with a new design,
- an aluminum upper part on swing arm for more rigidity,
- the diameter, of the fastening-point from swing arm in frame, grew up from 20mm to 25mm,
- the character of the feather rate from suspension are changed to his new destination : racing,
- a steering-damper is mounted under the front- fork –bridge,
- this sport-production got a special carb type, the Mikuni TMR40 ( flat-carbs with 40mm intake)
- 6- speed- close-ratio racing-gearbox was mounted,
- 1st speed gear was very long and went to 130km/h,
- the SP model were distributed only in the colour blue& white from the Suzuki racing department,
- the black-box controlled the SP engine up to 14.000rpm
- magnesium engine covers,
- the difference in weight, between 94 production model and 94 SP- model, is only 2kg. Between last year’s model, the 1993 GSX-R750, this bike was 11kg heavier than the SP model.

I thought that the Sp was the 94 model. You live and learn.

Is there a big power/feel difference between the two bikes. I would love to ride them back to back!

Well it does come with flatslides on it so I would think it would be a bit faster. The downside is that for street puroses the close ratio transmission would suck. I would take the tranny in a heart beat though!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The only thing that ever interested me about the SP model was the close ratio tranny........ I would love to have one!
