Are there any tracks in the Detroit area? I've never had the opportunity to experience a "track day" and I would really like to. Anybody know where I could get some track time?

Depending on whether or not you want a drag strip or a road course. As far as drag ways are concerned there is one in Milan. Basically from Detroit take 94west to 23 south for about 10 miles until you see the dragway sign, turn left and go for about 5-6 miles. Cant miss it. They have a road course there that is really really small but you basically have to sneak on it and do a quick lap right when they close up for the night. As far as real road courses....not anywhere near Detroit. Gratten Raceway is a highly regarded track and has open track days and Suzuki qualifying events every year. Its about 2 hours from Detroit if you speed. The Grand Rapids area.

I was looking for more of a road coarse. I've been to Milan before. The drag strip is fun and all but doesn't really compare to a road coarse.
I grew up around the Grand Rapids area...where about is the coarse?
Thanks!

Grattan is in Belding, just NW of Ionia.
and there is Gingerman which is south of Grand Rapids

I have been to Grattan 4 times this year. I go with a TrackDay club called Trackoholics.
They are really good and cater to all riders (novice, intermediate, and advanced).
They put on a good safe day (they keep the three groups seperated as not to ruin anyones day) and have good instructors if you need them.
check out www.trackoholics.com (http://www.trackoholics.com)

Since it seems that your a regular there what was the 2003 price for a track day? Also last time I was there they required a one piece leather suit is this still true or can you get away with a two piece now?

Grattan was like 130 for the day. They put on a good day especailly if you are a novice rider and looking to get some instruction out there to get better.
They do not require a 1 piece but you need a 2 piece with a full circumference zipper.
They have a section on their site that tells you all you need to have and do to bike to get through tech.
