Judging by a number of recent posts, there seems to be a growing trend in this forum to blow anyone off that's not a seasoned racer. You ask me it's a pretty shitty attitude.

Some people in particular seem to go out of their way to make anyone who dares admit they're only a trackday enthusiast feel unwelcome here. Maybe I can remind y'all of a few things...

A) You don't own this forum

B) You were once only a recreational rider. Then you were only a trackday enthusiast. I'd be willing to bet none of you entered a race the first time you hopped on a bike.

C) It's a public forum. If people want to ask questions, let them. If you think you're too good to answer them, then why don't you just keep your mouths shut instead of doing your best to turn them away?

D) What's the use in limiting a forum to race reports that only you really care about, and oversized race photos that take 15 minutes to load. Personally speaking, I'd much rather read & respond to a tech or skill related question, no matter who it was that initiated it, than wade through thread after thread of useless trash talk.

E) When people come on here seeking your advice, as a racer, they're looking up to you and your experience. Why don't you show them some courtesy for their reverence by giving them a straight, polite answer.

F) There seems to be alot of assumptions made about people's skill level around here. The 'trackday enthusiast' you're talking down to or trying to push off into another forum might very well be faster than you are. If not now, then later.

G) None of us have any reason to have big heads. Because, though we're all of different skill levels, even the best of us, compared to the REAL pros, the top dogs... WE ALL SUCK.

Jeez, I'm away for a month or so and the whole shithouse is coming down. Don't know what I missed, but all the LRRS guys here treated me fine, even before I started racing. Plus, isn't there a forum called "Trackday" here at this site. Anyway, hope you get the situation resolved.

Boy LeanAngle, you really know how to start shit. The reason some racers in here seem elitist is cuz we're tired of the street crowd, don't like it much, and come here to get AWAY from the rest of the hooplah. Then to have people like you come in here and talk trash is exactly the reason we don't go in the other forums, we're tired of the attitude.

I personally, would like to have this forum locked down tight and only those with valid racing licsenses be allowed to post. I can't find a single valid question any non-racer could have to ask in here except how to start, and that has been covered a gazillion times and can easily be found by doing a simple search.

I bought my very first bike in May of '99, paid the salesguy $20 to ride it back to my house. Took race school and raced in August of the same year. Didn't do a trackday until Sept of '99.

well, to be honest with you i dont think anyone has talked down to anyone asking questions. well maybe a little. some of the answers may have been a bit harsh and when not properly explained may seem condescending, but in reality i dont think anyone has ever called someone who asked a question in here who wasnt a racer "slow". or told them they dont belong on a track. so, i think maybe your making it out to be more than the tire post really was. some of the trackday guys (and other people who just jumped in on the topic) took it the way you are stating in this thread. but no where in that entire thread can you find a sentence that specifically called someone slow, or said they dont belong on the track. and 99 out of a 100 times people answer everyones questions as best as they can.

FWIW - I raced 8yrs before I did my first track day. Purchased the Hawk in earlyApril of 95 and did my school and first 3 races in May of 95.

I have gotten a bit of flak in here myself but I think it was more light hearted jabbing. At least I did not take it in any bad way.

I don't think this forum should be locked down to people with valad racing license's . When I was first looking to take my race class I woulda never been able to come in here and post (well if I was not an Admin that would be true) and get answers to my feeble little questions.

Anyway this is the most non drama filled forum on GDC. Lets keep it that way!

must be something about the same first name here since that is just how i feel.

This forum is filled with a lot of knowledge.. and they've always seemed willing to share that info... whether its "how to get sponsors", "which tire pressure to use", or makin' fun of fever.. there's always some good stuff on here. I personally havn't seen much along the lines of "Condescending Replies", to questions pertaining to racing.

Although, some of the answers to questions regarding equipment used for racing(Like Tires), and the feasibility of using them for track days, can seem condescending to someone who doesn't really know where the threshold for these items becoming a necessity lies. The answers they get, such as~" You don't really need them for a track day event"...can seem directed at them as if to insinuate that, "they" are "slow"...
When in reality.....The intended message was, There will be too much slow traffic to actually hold a "Race Pace"...Therefore....Race compounds will not be necessary.
Or~......Trackday sessions are short and many.......and....The use of Race Compounds will be futile with all the heat cycles, and considering that, most trackday goers won't be bringing warmers.

What a silly thread this is.. Boy I leave for a little while and this is what I come home to.

Along with this being a drama free forum I tend to feel we are also a close knit family here.. most of the frequent posters here have met the other frequent posters at one time or another at one event or another. We tend to know others on a first name basis and when around each other we tend to do whatever we can to help each other out. (even though we may be competing against one another)

The Race community is one of the closest I have ever been part of. I used to race Mustangs (Fun Ford Weekends, Tasca Race Day, Etc..Etc..)
