Can anybody tell me what should the normal engine operating temperature for a GSXR1000 K1 be on a open road on a summersday of about 28 degrees celsius. Mine runs about 62 deg C on the open road and goes up to 104 deg C in heavy traffic before the fan kicks in. I am mainly concerned that the engine is running too cold. I changed the thermostat but still the same. I thought that since the thermostat opens at 82 deg C, the engine should maintain a constant 82 deg C on and open road. Any inputs will be much appreciated.

If I'm correct your temps are right around 200degrees farenheight. If I did the conversion right that seems about right. My bike will run around 220 farenheight in traffic. Fans kick in right around there too.

And most of the time any vehicle will run slightly warmer than what the thermostat is rated at
