For anyone who reads this... Don't use Wachovia Bank for anything! I've had so much trouble with that bank that it isn't even funny. They tried shutting down my bank accounts there in the past because I didn't use it for 3 months. They also had my social wrong for my car loan. They refused to change it and tried telling me that I was not myself and I was trying to do identity theft on my own account...

So yeah just a heads up....

Wachovia is in some trouble... and they are pulling "rank" on some subsidiaries that are in to them for cash. My company sources a critical component through a supplier who was LIQUIDATED over night in a swift motion of the financial pen... to the tune of MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of impact that is still on-going and will CONTINUE to consume me and my firm for months to come. They are cutting their losses on millions of bad loans and trying to recoup from various large commercial operations that they fund that are showing up "marginal" or as a "cost center" or otherwise short term liability, or even simply as an OPPORTUNITY to generate IMMEDIATE funds influx.

I second your warning as a domino-effected institution within which I am PERSONALLY distressed relative my work load and the tasks I have to overcome as a course of my obligatory duties...

Wachovia are a bunch of hoodlums in their recent behavior.

On another note... most institutions are when it comes to push and shove...

Oh, yeah... as a result of one of their scratch of a pen moves... dozens of professionals, some whom I knew and worked with personally, were called in to the office one day and told to "go home", you are no longer with the firm effective immediately. End of story.

They didn't even give any notice, nor severance package! I don't get how they could get away with it... until I realized that it was a BANK several tiers removed from the subject liquidation... and you couldn't "nail" it on them... but Wachovia was pulling all the strings.

Washington Mutual is very good for Checking and Savings accounts only I find. I just opened another Savings account with the county credit union my work uses and promotes... See what happens with that...

By all means, where/when/if possible go with credit unions over commercial banks. I'm sure before long BOA will be purchasing Wachovia as well.

Long, but telling artical:

I just called Wachovia to make sure they made the proper changes to my social security # on my acct, and they said the only way to fix it is if I refinance the car. I told them to screw off and called the corp HQ and spoke to a manager. Manager said that Wachovia Dealers is shady group of people and he'll fix the problem and even repeated everything to make sure everything was correct.

I am sure that is like Home Depot in some parts of the country is great, but here in middle Georgia they suck. I realize that is a retail store and this is your identity and money that your bank is dealing with, but same basic principal.

I use USAA for everything, and have for years. They are the best bank by far that I have had experience with. I have brokerage, mortgage, checking, savings and insurance through them and not one problem or issue in many years.

If you are eligible for USAA, I would highly recommend them.
