OK folks it is almost time for meto go take my bike test. Can you give me a few pointers perhaps or how th ewhole process goes. I have been riding for 12 years now so I am confortable with riding th ebike but I can just see that a few UK laws or tricks could screw me up. As background I have a US license and moved to londona year ago.
Cheers

all the stuff you expect applies, staying within the correct speed limit ,lifesavers (not the candy) ,good observation, ride as though you are not being followed (ignore the examiner and just follow the instruction via the intercom)
one thing they are very keen on is "making the correct progress" so if you can overtake and stay within the speed limit (although you can exceed slightly while passing) do so, a friend of mine failed for being hesitant and not showing confidence because he sat behind a car doing 50mph in a 60 mph zone
be careful he will ask you to pull over where its safe to do so, DONT go and pull in close behind a parked car because the examiner will then pull in close behind you (blocking you in) and the ask you to proceed
lifesavers.let him see you are using your mirrors and ride with confidence
lucky for me (sort of) a guy pulled out in front of me on a roundabout on my test but i saw he was going to so i think this helped
the whole test takes 35 - 40 mins ,unless he gives you an instruction you must continue straight on ,and he will leave you to do this to see how you ride without instruction
you will need to, do an emergency stop (without skidding) when you stop you must do a lifesaver over both shoulders to check for traffic behind you, do a u turn riding the bike,do a u turn pushing the bike, sometimes they will stop u on a hill and ask you to start off, they will ask you to park then proceed, usually they will take you down a steep hill (dont touch the brakes use your gears)
thats about all i can remember at the mo
dont you have to do a cbt or theory test ?
good luck mate

just in case you need to do the whole process and not just the practical test here it is:-
CBT - this can be booked through almost any bike shop usually, it consists of a 1/2 a day - a days basic training..very simple
you will be given a certificate with a pass number on it, you then can go to stage two ,which is telephone giving them the number off the certificate and book a ....
THEORY TEST
this takes about 20 mins and you will be asked questions about road signs etc, it is a touch screen computer with multiple choice answers, you will then be given a certificate ,which you will need to show when you go for your practical test
PRACTICAL TEST
as above
you can find mock theory tests on the web ,do a google search
hope this helps ya http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
i think its slightly easier in the states http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
