: Fighting Bike scams on e-bay
I've done it a couple of times, and it works.
If you suspect there is a scam, it's a stolen bike, or other issue - let e-bay admins know about it.
Here is the link:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact/index.html
If the item is there illegaly, they will remove it.
Don't forget to include the item number.
e-bay admins can easily see the recent change in the account, contact the real owner, and determine whether the item is there
illegaly.
Obvious suspects are when you are looking for a bike, and get BS response from a seller (on vacation, will ship the bike, send money via Western Union, etc).
Another easy check for sellers with hundreds of feedbacks. Take a look at what they buy/sell. More often than not the auction
for a bike looks totally out of place (seen that from a seller who deals with kiddy stuff - books, crafts, etc.). It's a
clear indication that the account was hijacked by a crook (they do it by guessing paswords, or by sending e-mails from would
be e-bay asking to verify password. Some folks are too busy and don't pay attention, they click reply, put in their passwords, and there it goes).
e-bay admins are not capable of finding those crooks, but if we point them in the right direction they will be more than happy to get rid of them.

Just wanted to add that you can even send message to a bidder on the suspected item via e-bay messaging system. Just click on bid list, and then click on the bidder name. You will be prompted with the message window where you can alert that bidder about potential fraud.
Already sent a few warnings out.

Julia_ 11-10-2003, 02:21 AM I'll keep an eye out too, I go on ebay uk alot!
OK, here is another effective method I just tested. And, I think I like it a lot.
JAMMING THE SCAMMER'S MAILBOX!!!
I e-mailed image with a text "FUCK YOU SCAMMER" (about 400kb) number of times until I got back error from the server saying that the quota for recepient's mailbox was exceeded.
When those moron's mailboxes are full they cannot get any messages from their potential victims!
I think I will be saving e-mail addresses of all the scammers I stumble upon, and will be greeting them daily.
mrigor 11-15-2003, 01:43 AM Teska, maladets!
CheckeredFlagMotorsp 11-16-2003, 08:35 PM I take about 5 minutes in the morning and report them, today I reported 18 scams. I think we should get the people who are willing to report them , and set up some sort of plan, like group A does suzuki group B does yamaha etc. Just for fun we should try it for a week and see if it makes a difference. Like I said, I found 18 ads in 5 minutes. Multiply that by 10-15 people, we could shut down 150-200 ads a day!! Who`s with me??, let`s make those scam fucks work like dogs for nothing and get some accounts back to their owners!!
Nupe2Fall99 11-16-2003, 11:50 PM I came across a 2003 GSXR 1000 on ebay, with 500 miles. The seller was using the buy it now option, which was set at $4999. Checked the users other auctions, and they had a 2003 r1 for the same price, with the same mileage. Checked the sellers history, and they sold kids books, needle sets, sweaters, and a bunch of other odds and ends. I knew it was fraud, but for shits and Giggles I emailed the seller. Here is their response:
"Hello there,
I am glad you are interested in my listing. Before you bid I have to let you know that I am currently in Italy.
I will cover the shipping costs and insurance. You will not have to pay additional taxes, just the price for it.The bike will be shipped with FedEx Air Service and you will receive it within 4 days tops.FedEx will delivery the bike at your door. Some words about the bike:perfect condition, under warranty (extended to 5 years). The bike has never been wrecked or damaged. The price for this bike is 4999$ USD.If you want to get this deal moving you must first complete a 999$ deposit via Money Order. You will have 30 days money back guarantee. If you agree with these terms,we can start to complete the transaction .I will apreciate a faster answer from your part.
Best Regards!!!
"
All I can say is, watch out for items that are too good to be true. I reported this and the r1, and within the hour they were removed from ebay.

dj1298 01-07-2004, 05:53 AM I am the forum admin over at r6-forum.com. Can I repost this over at my site? Or have you register and post it? Maybe if all the bike sites got together, ebay would listen to our claims...
-DJ1298
SILVER750 01-07-2004, 03:59 PM I sure am glad that I belong to this site because I just ran across an ad on cycletrader that sounds to good to be true. This sellers name is Charles Hagan. He's selling a 2002 GSXR1000 for 3500 usdollars. He and the bike are in London. He claims that he'll pay for all the shipping and insurance I wanted to beleive him but it sounds like bull$h!t to me. He sent me some pictures and the bikes VIN. For all I know it could be the VIN for any bike. I havent been able to check the VIN yet, but I know now that scams do exist on ebay and obviously on cycletrader. Thanks for the info. Does any one know a site where I can check a VIN
Unfortunately, there is no site which would give you info on a bike. I personally called carfax, and spoke about this, and they tell they simply do not have info on bikes. The best they could do is to decode the meaning of the VIN which you could do for free on any of those sites, but you will never see history records.
Even my former Allstate insurance agent could not get any info on a bike.
The best bet is to contact DMV of the appropriate state.
skidmark 01-14-2004, 04:47 AM I just reported a scam on a nice yellow R1... the bike had over 10000 in mods and had a buy it now of 2500... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bs.gif
the listing was pulled by this morning http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
nikon 01-17-2004, 12:26 PM Nice post. I almost got scammed for 2900 dollars for a 2001 Gixxer750. Would have been my first bike and first time dealing with Ebay for a vehicle. Anyways took me awhile to figure it out but I did finally figure out that he was scamming before I sent my money. Anyways wish I had seen this post before that.
racerx217 01-21-2004, 07:42 AM i has some shit like that happen to my ebay account, one day i come home and i cannot get into my email address, so i was like hummmm.... wtf!! then i went to my ebay account and they had like 120k worth of bikes and cars for sale in my name and they wanted the money sent westernunion and it had the name and address in the add, some place in cal. not michigan where i live so i contaced ebay and they ended all of the auctions and i had to change my user name and password and all of that crap, imagin the hell that i would have gone through if had had been away or on vacation or something and those items sold, what a mess took like a week to get it all taken care of
GixxerPimpn 01-23-2004, 02:40 PM Where are they located? maybe someone from the list can go by and throw them a beating http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif

Upshift 02-17-2004, 10:39 AM I think a prerequisite for Cycle Trader's featured ads is "The sale must be a scam." Check out this response I got today:
First of all I must inform you that I just moved in The Netherlands and i
have to let you know that the Ninja ZX6R is here with me .I am the first
owner of the bike.
No damages, no scratches or dents, never touched the ground, no hidden
defects, runs and sounds awesome, the engine has never been repaired or
something like that, never been into accidents and it is as advertised. The
bike is an US model with US specs ( the speedomeeter is in miles), comes
with all the documents you need to register the bike (manual still sealed,
clear title in my hand, bill of sale signed by me) still under
warranty(extended at 2 years) .
I recently moved here and was going to register it here but changed my mind
since me and my wife bought a new house and we have to sell it. We didn't
paid for Holland import taxes and if we keep the bike like that we were
going to lose it and its better to ship it where it belongs, that means US.
Time is really an issue and we have to move fast.
Final price is 2900 USD (this price includes the shipping and insurance) and
if you agree with this price we can start to complete the transaction.
Price is good cause if I pay taxes here and sell it here would get the same
price if I sell it in US from here.
The bike will be shipped from Holland, it is ready to be shipped and I have
arranged with Lufthansa air cargo so you can get it in less than 5 days to
your door . You will not have to pay additional taxes cause the bike is
registered in US, just only the price for it. If you're interested, you know
where to find me.

HUMPTY 02-22-2004, 12:25 AM THIS REALLY SUCKS, I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT SHIT EVERYDAY, I SELL LARGE NUMBERS OF BIKES ON EBAY AND I AM CONSANTLY BEING GRILLED BY CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF THOSE DAMN SCAMS http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif
coach 02-24-2004, 12:14 AM yeah im with you i bought 02 1000 and seller couldn't give me title, i also think engine was swapped. if anyone out there knows blingbling273@cs.com tell him to screw himself!!he's in Oakland.
Elfili 02-24-2004, 03:53 AM ...and to those fucks out there who steal bikes and sell them parted out on ebay. We're onto you.
As a sample... here's a guy on ebay with KNOWN stolen property. You ask how I know?! ... let that source be unknown for prying eyes.
But all these hayabusa parts are stolen along with a ZX-9R out in Brooklyn about 2 weeks ago. Interestingly enough, this fuck puts the parts on ebay soon after.
He's taken out known parts that can be traced. Took off the ZX-9R motor along with the 'Busa motor he had for sale. COINCIDENTALLY, these parts had the description of the same bike(s) stolen. Same color/mileage.
And BTW... who would sell front forks with the ignition key set to lock?!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34284&item=2462651 307
Purchase anything from this individual, and you're only supporting theft.

MeanStreak 02-29-2004, 06:06 AM lol I bid on a couple bikes on eBay and right away got tons of email offers for other bikes. THe funniest one was someone wanting to sell me a 2003 Harley Fat Boy in black/silver with only 1200 miles on it. They said I could have it for only $5500 with $500 shipping. They said they would be willing to take a $1500 down payment and go ahead and ship the bike. They said they would "trust me" to send the remainder of the money when the bike arrived! Wow, amazing how trusting some people are! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
JuddFL 03-02-2004, 11:57 AM Good post. I am into jetskis and see this on Ebay all the time. I was looking on cycle trader the other night and found 2 killer deals for a GSXR 1000. I emailed one and now the bike is in Holland instead of winter park Florida.Of course he will ship for free. SO i responded if he will use an escrow company of my choosing. Have not heard back. As i read it, i was like "doh" they have scamers in the cycle world too LOL
BTW my wife got her email account hacked and ebay account hacked at the same time. Somehow we were selling an Audi 5000 when our real business is toner for office equipment. LOL. I contacted Ebay and the high bidder. turns out the car had been wrecked 2 weeks earlier.
Hope everyone reads this and takes caution
JuddFL 03-03-2004, 03:57 AM With escrow it will take to long. You will have to make the payment by Western Union and you can find it in any post office.
When you will make the payment you will have only to prove me that you have all the money by sending the money from your name to your friend name or any name you want and my address .
Here is the address in order to make the payment by westren union:
name:your friend name or any name you want
Country: ENGLAND
City: LONDON,SOUTH KENSINGTON
street: 16 COLLINGHAM ROAD
zip code:SW5 OLX
After you will make the payment you will have only to send me the scaned paper from western union so i can see that you have all the money.
after i will verify the founds on the www.westernunion.com (http://www.westernunion.com) i will send you the bike imediatly and you will receive it in max 4 days at your home.
I will send you with the bike also the title wich will be sign at a Notary and all you have to do is to sign ! also the title and you will be the owner of the bike. All the documents will be sent with the bike so don`t worry about nothing.
When you will receive the bike and you will test it you will have only to go to any westren union center to change the receiver name into my name so i can pick up the money.
I will wait for your email as soon as possible. Please send me your full name and address.
This is the reply I got after asking the guy if he would use an escrow service. Obviously hes not going to send the bike and I wouldnt change the name on the western union money order. How can he collect the western union if its not in his name (That has to be his plan)

i bet the cause of the wreck was 'unintended acceleration'.
FIVEKAV 03-05-2004, 11:35 PM EBAY DOESN'T CARE IF STOLEN PARTS OR FAUD IS BEING COMMITED ON THERE SITE . THEY JUST GET THERE ACTION IN THE WAY OF POSTING FEES. BIG BROTHER IS NOT KEEPING AND OPEN EYE ON THIS ISSUE . WE NEED TO TAKE THE ACTION (FBI) ANYTHING THAT CROSS'S OVER STATE LINES IS THERE BABY.
mrjonjon 03-08-2004, 11:23 AM HHAHHA!!! I had a guy email me privately telling me he'd sell me an 03 RC51 for 5000 with no miles. Just for kicks I asked him "Why so cheap?" His reply? "I have a hearing problem." WTF????

gimpsta 03-09-2004, 05:14 AM i see gix 1k's and busa for 5k in mint condition. they claim they will ship it for free too!! And guess what from the Netherlands!! It costs 5k just to ship the thing and they are gonna do it free. The funny thing is they got thousands of feedbacks. I always email people like that and lmao at them. I bash them like crazy and tell them they are so full of it. Strange how none of them respond to me.
Gix_Sir6 03-10-2004, 05:21 AM A few weeks back, I ran across a 2003 R1 on there. Full exhuast, chrome wheels, the works. I think the starting bid was $2200 with no reserve.
I emailed the guy to see what was wrong with it. He told me it had a clear title, hardly any mile and had been stored in a garage. He then told me the bike was in Bulgaria, but he had the title in Indiana i think it was. Said the reason he was selling so cheap, he was going to lose his house if he didnt get the bank $2200 fast. The bike was gonna be shipped to my door within 7 days, and he said he would even pay for shipping. Needless to say, I passed it on by, but that sure would have been a great deal. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif

Suzuki Chelly 03-13-2004, 10:52 AM I've seen the same thing time and time again. Of the 3 or so that I've run across lately, they all claimed to be Bulgaria. mrpburke 03-16-2004, 04:12 AM Is this a scam??? sounds like it to me
Hello there,
First of all I want to thank you for contact me and your interest in mybike. I know that are numerous offers on eBay and I'm glad that youchoose to contact me regarding your willingness to purchase. I have for sale two
bikes:
2003 Suzuki GSX R1000 $3,000.00usd ,50 miles
2003 Yamaha YZF-R1 $2900 USD, 32 miles
2003 Honda CBR 600 RR $2,800.00 USD, miles
I have a little business but i am not a shop and I have (for the moment) the privilege to buy these items for low cost so that you have the opportunity to purchase them.
Each bike is like brand new, completely working, 2003 model and with 2 years EXTENDED, INTERNATIONAL and TRANSFERABLE warranty and will be honored at any dealer in your country. All the manuals and the original documentation are written in eight languages. As a shipping career I will use Lufthansa air cargo insured, all the shipping/handling and insurance charges are included in the sale price. The unit is being shipped from Greece and you wont have to pay for customs or any additional taxes when it arrives in US, will take 3-4 working days to be delivered. You will get the package with proper custom papers, clear title, bill of sale signed by me as well, the bike will be shipped dry, no oil, no fuel to your closest airport and then will be trailed to your door.. The title is clear and you will register it in your country. I send all my items with the specification ''gift'' so you don't have to pay any additional taxes.
The shipping costs and the insurance taxes of the package will be down to me and you only pay for the money transfer commission when you wire the funds, which is about 4% from the total amount sent.
There may be some customs for you to pay, but if you wish we can avoid them: you'll declare you send money to a friend and I will
declare the shipping as a gift/donation.
You also yhave a 15 days money back warranty, no questions asked - this means that if within 15 days you change your mind you simply sent back the unit and get your full paid amount back but since it is a state of the art bike and works and looks perfectly I think it would not get to this.
Please let me know if you are interested and which bike you want and I will
provide you further information to purchase the bike asap.
Regards,
Sandy
PS: If you are interested in a package deal for 2 or 3 bikes I will make you avery good offert:
Suzuki and Yamaha=5500 USD
Suzuki and Honda= 5400 USD.
Yamaha and Honda=5200 USD

devenwood 04-08-2004, 12:30 PM *** Something that isn't a well known fact is that when you send money/m.o./check (whatever it may be) overseas..... there are no laws protecting you anymore. The money will be gone and you'll be screwed. I NEVER purchase anything off ebay that isn't in the US. All those bikes for sale on ebay that are scams are NOT located in the US. Keep this in mind and hopefully this will help everyone avoid being raped by these bastards !
venom_750 04-12-2004, 07:11 PM http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gife-bay would be alot better if every one was honest and i hope the scamers get scammed once let them know what its like to be cheated
Wheelie_King 04-13-2004, 12:58 AM Not only is there bike scams on E-Bay, but it seems like there are tons of scams on E-Bay. I removed my account from E-Bay and Paypal. I got scammed on Paypal and ounce I found out that E-Bay and PayPal were together I pulled out of both. THere is really nothing you can do about the scam, if you paid by Visa you can stop the payment or if the money has not gone through any accounts close the accounts.
Hope that helps, if you need more info send me a note ferrari_32@hotmail.com. You can also go to paypalsucks.com and read the thousands of horror stories.

jubei 04-27-2004, 09:28 PM damn, should have read this earlier, i've been having a lot of trouble with my ebay account and my email account. ive been getting a lot of emails that require me to change my password and so forth. it looked totally legit, except for the part where ebay wanted to know my personal email account password.
Blitzkrieg 05-05-2004, 11:21 PM This guy used to sell on e-bay. Advertised a brand new '03 gix 750 for $6599. I actually looked into it about a year ago, but everything was too sketchy. Said he was getting it from a dealer in Florida, his cell phone was from like Arkansas, and his mailing address is in Tennessee. Occasionally I'd get a call from him from a Utah phone number. I just find it amazing that something so sketchy is still going on. Check out his site, tell me what you think.

Undisputed 05-26-2004, 06:42 PM We should ask for a mailing address and mail them some dog shit. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/piss.gif
Kidder 05-26-2004, 10:05 PM Hmmm, the guy giving you the response via e-bay doesn't sound like he speaks English as a first language.

then00b 05-30-2004, 11:57 PM I e-mailed one guy about a Hayabusa for like $2500, simply asking for the VIN and he sent me the stock response about being in Paris and needing money desperately for his "family business." I e-mailed him back and told him he shouldn't give the sob story until it's asked for cuz it kinda ruins the whole "maybe this isn't a scam" thing. He didn't respond. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
BADBOY_750 06-08-2004, 01:47 AM Thank god for sites like gixxer.com and it's fellow members. This thread is very important and should be kepted alive for our fellow riders not to get caught up in these scams. My buddy was about to get into this scam, and for a quick minute I must admit I was like whoa. but her is his copy of letter the scammer sent him. Also in a seperate email there are photos of some paper work that is suppose to be on the bike and liscense of the guy selling the bike.
Hello there,
Thank you for your interest in purchasing my bike. I know that are
numerous
offers on eBay and I'm glad that you choose to contact me regarding
your
willingness to purchase. First of all I must inform you that I'm in
Portugal
and I have to let you know that the bike is here with me. I am the
first
owner of the bike. You will receive your bike by FedEx Freight
International
at your home address. This is home delivery shipping. It is insured in
case
of damage and it takes 4-5 days to be delivered at your DOOR. I will
send
you the bike with all the papers. I have a friend at FedEx who will
manage
me a low price shipping and I assumed that it is from me to pay for
shipping
it.When I will shipp it,I will declare it as a gift so you will pay no
customs when you will receive it and for this it will be delivered
directly
to your address. No damages, no scratches or dents, never touched the
ground, no hidden defects, the engine doesn't smoke, runs and sounds
awesome, the engine has never been repaired or something like that,
never
been into accidents and it is as advertised. The bike is an US model
with US
specs (the speedomeeter is in miles), comes with all the documents you
need
to register the bike. I recently moved here and was going to register
it
here but changed my mind because I don't have the time to enjoy it
anymore
and I decide it to sell it. I didn't paid for Portugal import taxes and
if
I'll keep the bike like that I'm going to lose it and it's better to
ship it
where it belongs, that means US. Time is really an issue and we have to
move
fast. The price I have in mind is $ 3,100 US (this price includes the
shipping and insurance) and if you agree with this price we can start
to
complete the transaction. Price is good cause if I pay taxes here and
sell
it here would get the same price if I sell it in US from here. The bike
will
be shipped from Portugal.
You will not have to pay additional taxes cause the bike is registered
in
US, just only the price for it. If you are interested in this deal just
email me back so we can make the arangements.
Best regards,
Patrick Joseph
PS: You don't have to worry because I am out of US because you will pay
me
only after you receive and inspect the bike and only if the bike is
just as
advertise. Email me your complete name and adress I'll need for the
shipping
procedure. If you decide to go further let me know asap.
(2nd email)
Hello,
The bike is registered in US and it has a Clear Title. As soon as you'll
receive the bike and the title you'll be able to register it in your
name
without any problems.Attached are pictures of my drivers license and
insurance policy for the bike which include all the information
needed. You'll have to verify at DMV ( Department of Motor Vehicles )
Please
e-mail me your shipping address and I will initiate the shipping
process. I
would need proof from you that you intend on purchasing. I really want
you
to have this beauty and I am not trying to be difficult. But I need to
provide me the payment confirmation, prior to shipping in order to make
the
shippment.I hope you can understad me.
In this weekend I'm out of town with my family.I have two young boys
and
I've promise them this trip a week ago.I'm sure you can understand me.
Please respond me Sunday.
Thanks
He4dSh0tS 308 06-08-2004, 05:11 AM Yea figured all those were scams when I saw them, I offered to drive to canada and give the guy cash which woulda been a helluva good deal for him if it was true and I got the automated response. My friend almost did the 2 bikes for 5400 or w/e deal. Hes definition squid if ever there was one, already bought neons , was gonna get spinners, hasnt thought bout like a slip on yet...
cory1848 06-18-2004, 07:23 AM Besides Ebay, I have seen a ton of ads in Cycletrader for gix1000 and Honda 954 and RC 51 and so on for around the $3999 range. Of course they are brand new 2003 models...I emailed a few and got those same responses. Now how does cycletrader verify this?

BunkerKing 07-01-2004, 01:57 PM I jus got scamed on ebay for $2500. i feel so stupid and the worst part about it is that that was my life savings so far it dont seem like much but for being only 17 and not really haveing a job that was all i had now i dont think ill ever get a bike or my money back.
GSXR_ROB 07-05-2004, 05:36 AM Too good to be true........... Live and learn! I guess it's time to get a job and save again for a "real" bike!

trailblz 07-09-2004, 10:47 AM I love this site!!! I was just going to post a question to see if a bike on ebay could be a scam, and here it is, with others with the EXACT same e-mail that I got, except mine was from Bulgaria! Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge!
IIFAST4U 07-12-2004, 01:59 PM YUP I saw a guy with 3 bikes for sale al 03 bikes all 3400 if you email him and all had the same high bidder. I sent ebay the info and they shut them down. Need to keep on it I guess.

jassing 07-12-2004, 07:54 PM This guy is still in business -- I reported him twice last month; ebay didn't do anything. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
rescuesmack 07-16-2004, 01:42 PM I went through the same thing! I was so excited about the bike, that I didn't do my usual checks. I was wrapped up in a escrow fraud. I wired $4000 to a ligitimate bank acount, and the bike never came. (dumba**) It took the IFCC and the FBI to recover my funds that were almost wired to fund terrorism. The ebay link is still active for the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2481184847 (7/16/04)
To really get the lowdown on the whole operation go to this website: http://www.carbuyingtips.com/fraud.htm
Also, check out the list of fake escrow sites here: http://www.escrowfraud.com/services.html
I was lucky to catch the money before it was gone in an international shuffle, but most are not.
PacificR 07-21-2004, 06:03 PM Just some more dorks that get your email address to add to a spam mail list to sell to other dorks.
newGSXeR 07-26-2004, 12:55 PM I also buy and sell a whole lot on e-bay. There are two things you can do that have not been mentioned yet:
1-Request the sellers contact info from e-bay. Here is the link http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?UserInformationRequest
Then do two things, call them and search mapquest, from mapquest you can see a satelite photo. If it si a cow pasture you know what to do!
2- Call the local police and ask them to verify the VIN or check out the seller. I am LE and you may think it is stupid but first of all the police will know of any other complaints from that person/adress/phone number and second, if the person is up to something, you will never hear from them again. The Police will be all tom happy to help.
Think, how hard is it to earn $50, 500, or $5,000...play it safe.
socalcoyote 08-09-2004, 02:46 PM Here are some more. It look less than one minute to find these scams....

hmrkr 09-16-2004, 03:34 PM ANOTHER QUICK IDENTIFIER IS TO LOOK AT THE PICS FOR QUALITY. 9 TIMES OUT OF 10. IF YOU HAVE A PAID OFF $10,000 BIKE YOU HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA. MOST OF THESE GUYS USE PICS FROM OTHER WEBSITES OR AUCTIONS YOU'VE SEEN PREVIOUSLY ON EBAY. YOU KNOW IF YOU'VE SEEN THE SAME CUSTOM BIKE UP FOR BID ABOUT 5 TIMES SOMETHINGS UP. I JUST SAW A BIKE ON EBAY FOR SELL THAT I SAW AT '04 ROAD ATLANTA WITH NO FOR SALE SIGN ON IT... COME ON THAT HAD TO BE A SCAM...
guamgsxr 09-21-2004, 10:09 AM im with all of you, stop the scams, honest people are trying to make a living.
flyingshark750 09-21-2004, 11:43 AM There are sooo many of these scams. It's disgusting. Ebay likes the money they make on it though. Don't buy anything listed in a foreign country. Don't buy anything where the guy emails you and says he'll send you the bike w/ no money down. Don't buy anything that uses Western Union as payment. Use your gut. I contacted one guy for shits and giggles. Was offering a 2000 929 for 3 grand, said he was an American living in France...said he'd send me the bike FedEx!!! w/ 1200 bucks down and I could pay the rest in payments. Do you know how much it would cost to overnight a bike!!!!??? He was a total scammer, wouldn't gimme his contact information till I was ready with the money. I figured out his ruse real quick. Biyotch.
Big Aussie Pete 09-27-2004, 02:55 PM I emailed a guy on ebay bout a hyabusa limited edition 2003 for 3k, turns out to be from portugal, can send it via fed-ex to Australia for a all up cost of 5k what a joke!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif only on ebay
i have a big ebay presence and i hate it, i get 10+ bogus emails from ebay(fake AKA SPOOF EMAILS) a day.
If you suspect it maybe a fake copy the ebay number and send it to spoof@ebay.com
as this is an everyday event, this occupy your time all day.
BTW for the most part EBAY SUCKS

JixxER54 01-21-2005, 02:28 PM whoa !! a week ago i lost to a higher bidder on ebay in the last minute and the next day the seller emails me and ask me if i still wanted the bike for my last bid ! he stated that the winner was trying to get him to send a check for 11000 bucks and the bike, which would cover shipping and he would send the difference back. so the seller backed out and i got the gixxer 03 600 blk silver for 2500 dollars less than my highest bid. So even buyers are trying to scam and usually if they are out of the states. be very careful

bones0145 02-19-2005, 03:57 AM Most of these bikes that are to good a deal to be true that only allow pre-approved bidders are there just so you email someone you name address email address and phone number so they can sell this information to low life advertiseing bastardshttp://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/piss.gif that now know you want a bike and you will recieve massive emails letters calls and all that fun stuff. it took me awhile to figure it out without sending them my info but just in case it hasn't been said in this post yet thats why these auctions are here they don't want bids they want contact info http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif
Speedy1 03-22-2005, 10:08 AM This shit happened to me also, and I even had talked to the guy on the telephone, but after further investigation, found to be fraud, I had just sent the money also, but was able to stop the transaction, I was really bummed, I had just sold my zx-7r, and didnt have a bike now, luckly I had a friend that was selling his 94 GXSR 750, it had some cosmetic damage, but the price was right, so I bought it and I was only out of a bike for about 3 weeks. BTW I bought a 94 GSXR 750, original silver in color w/ pink & purple graphics, had a stage 3 jet kit, yosh header and pipe, and had a new drivers side fairing, and front fairing, 13000 miles, gave 1500. Had to replace pass. side fairing, and repaint the tail caused by scratches, replaced yosh system with D&D off ebay, and bought the side fairing at the dealers cost, guy selling bike worked for dealership, so KUDOS for me on that, I have 2200 invested in bike, and love it, considering I think this bike is lighter and faster than old zx-7, handling is better, and I sold my ZX-7 for 3600, Im ahead on cash http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

X_LawDog 03-29-2005, 10:46 AM Use passwords that AREN'T your birthday, address, SSAN, badge number,.... whatever. Use a TRUE password: example SH174SXx01 - something RANDOM you type quickly and without ANY thought. a 10-digit/letter combination has BILLIONS of possible solutions.
Also: DON'T sell using "Buy-It-Now" (I got scammed with that, and it cost me money!) Verify the buyer's information, and BE SURE. Use eBay's tools and have the payment put in escrow (as buyer) until you verify the bike, or DON'T deliver the bike until you have verifiable address and the money is in escrow.
People who are "out of the country", want their "representative" to pick the bike up, or want you to send money to a different address than the place where the bike is supposed to be... BEWARE!!!!!!
Some scams come through out-of-country email addresses, want you to do stuff no reasonable buyer/seller would want, and usually mangle english (or the language of your transaction).
eBay tries to prevent this stuff. Be cautious: if it seems too good to be true, IT IS. RUN.
X_LawDog 03-29-2005, 11:01 AM You should contact Interpol and Scotland Yard. With the address the scammer provided, they can probably bag him.
California now has a "Scam Unit" similar to the one used to catch kiddie porn shitheels. Ask your local PD about setting one up.

guys check it....
motoyardgreg 04-03-2005, 10:27 PM Maybe this has been said before, but here are the signs of a scam
1. They want you to contact them directly by email and not through ebay.
2. They want you pay them via Western Union
3. When you ask them to use escrow.com they say it takes too long for them to get money.
4. If they are asking only $2,500 for a 2003 GSX-R1000
5. The bike is in another country.
Most of these people are fishing and usually are not the brightest bunch. I had one guy tell me that a car he was selling cannot be used in Italy because the steering wheel is on a different side vs. USA.
If you think its too good to be true, it probably is.
Webber 04-12-2005, 09:00 AM Some of these people will really go out of the way to try and scam you. When I 1st looked for a bike last year I emailed a few and they would even fake emails from ebay recomending the seller..

shuki 05-20-2005, 03:21 PM there is this idiot that has stolen some good ebay members ID's and is running a scam. All his auctions are for 04 or 05 bikes with low miles and low price. All of his auctions you have to email him before you can bid. He then asks you for your name and shipping address. Somewhere along the line ebay ends his scam auction which he claims to have ended himself since you have agreed to buy the bike. He tells you ebay will be in touch with you finalizing details. "ebay" does then email you. one to confirm details. second to inform of payment options. the item I went through ended here. the item listed bike as being in MT but the email said send payment to ebay italy via western union and the bike would be shipped from ebay's affiliate warehouse in NY. I was like WTF!! Ebay has not warehouse! and I sure as hell ain't sending no money to italy. I have seen 5 other auctions by him today and have reported each one to ebay. be careful. watch out for the email buyer for approval on bidding auctions...

Hardware 06-28-2005, 01:29 PM I didn't read through all the posts, but it's mostly people bitching about scammers. Why don't we do something about it? I would be glad to take care of all the honda or Suzuki or yamaha or kawasaki scams per day. All we need is a couple of people who truely give a shit and we will put a stop to this. I cancelled so many auctions already on my own because of these scamming bastards. This post is awesome. Never thought to put it on here. It's so easy to spot a scammer, instead of acting surprised each time we see it and explain the situation on this site, instead let's just report them. We obviously know they exist. Anyone else actually interested in doing this?
Madson26 06-30-2005, 06:48 AM I'll keep an eye out too, I go on ebay uk alot!

cons1100 07-18-2005, 09:22 AM take them all down, i have been through a scam and got scamed. that shit is not funny!!!
Never 08-28-2005, 07:36 PM Always remember the no.1 Rule. Never ever use western union. Its untraceable. Thats why of course the scammers use it.
I got smoked $1,300 about 2 years ago on a piece of music equipment, so I basically learned the hard way. Heres some guidelines I have followed since then, and have not been scammed.
1. NEVER EVER USE WESTERN UNION FOR EBAY... Its great for receiving or sending money to family and friends, but not for the online world, where scammers are out to bleed you dry.
2. Try To bid in the U.S. I dont mean to sound rude, but most of the scams, I come across are from other country's, harder to trace. That doesnt mean you cant bid on something from Europe, just be smart. Make sure they offer paypal, and have a good feedback ratio, "although in my case it didnt matter because the guy somehow got ahold of someone else's ebay account which had a ton of good feedback.
3. And last but definatly not least. IF it looks to good to be true, It probably is. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Thats what happened to me, basically was selling something for $1,300 that anyone else would have had it up for $2,000 +

IG, I like the enthusiasm, but you need to play it very safe with the email bombing. You can be put in federal prison for that kind of shit. It would be a shame to go down by the hand of one of the crooks you are trying to eliminate. I hate these fuckers, too, and don't want to see anyone get ripped, especially a fellow rider. If you absolutely NEED to email-bomb, try using an actual email bomber that will allow you to conceal your originating IP with that of an open relay. Google search for a recent email bomber (new ones will have relay options) and dig for an open relay IP address and use it.

I.E. 750 12-19-2005, 03:19 PM i wouldnt buy a bike on e bay
SKYLIGHT 12-26-2005, 12:51 PM EXCELENT GUYS
skiwee393 04-20-2006, 12:35 PM I recently just bought my bike so i was spending a lot of time on ebay looking at auctions and i also encountered some scams. One of the scams that i encountered was one bike that i had bid on and lost. I soon after recieved an e - mail saying that i was getting a second chance buying option on the bike because the original winner was a deadbeat ebayer. The e - mail was asking for my ebay account which i found odd. So i contatced the original seller who informed me that the transaction had been completed successfully with the original winner and the bike had already been picked up. I reported the e - mail to ebay and then the next day i recieved another scam e - mail stating the same thing for the same bike. I reported them to ebay once again and the e - mails have stopped now. Just a heads up for any of you ebayers, watch out for this scam
gordsboyroy 05-09-2006, 04:03 PM I was looking at a bike on ebay once and the guy said he had more pics so I got him to send them to me. There was a plate on the bike which didn't correspond with where he said he was selling the bike from. I had a friend run the plate number and I contacted the registered owner. It appears that somebody had stopped him on his holidays and asked if he could take pictures of his bike 'cause he was thinking of getting one. The guy then turned around and tried to sell it on ebay.
I eventually did buy a bike on ebay and had no problems, but if it feels at all hinky, buyer beware.
luvinmy750 05-18-2006, 06:22 PM Also watch for the going to Iraq ads on e-bay. I ran into a couple of those. The real question is how can we find these people to give'em a good beat down They'll never forget. Oh I know, I'll give someone 100 dollars for the names and addresses of any crooks that do that shit. They need to be put in cell with a big hairy endowed queer.
I don't sound like I have issues with theives do I?
gimpsta 05-31-2006, 12:54 AM haha thats funny, i've always just hit the buy now feature they have, or I bit the $.01 the start the stupid things with. This last dude tried to get me to send him $1000 pair of truck rims with a bogus check. Obviously take it to the bank first. Well his email no longer worked of coarse after an attempt to get a hold of him after I had received the check and to let him know there were "complications" with it.
i was just hoping to get enough info on him to find out where he lived. I seriously wanted to come and beat his ass THEN call the cops.

colomRIK 07-10-2006, 06:47 PM Check this out, I am a seller on eBay and I was selling a 1994 Lexus ES300 which I had a reserve on and no one bid to the reserve. Well I posted the vehicle again and this time it sold.
About a week later I get an e-mail from a guy who was bidding on my Lexus the first time I was selling it, he wanted to know when I was going to deliver the vehicle to him.
I said to him that I never made a second chance offer on the vehicle, and that I sold the car on eBay but locally.
He gave me the copy of the e-mail and it was from some other e-mail address... from someone else.
That guy send the fake person a check for 4000.00 and he told him he would personally deliver the car.
I told him he got scammed and that he should only answer e-mails that show up internally on your personal eBay account.
Never do any exchanges away from eBay, the entire transaction should go throught eBay.
The guy wanted me to help him with his local authorities to try to do something about the crook who took his money.
GSXR1118 07-29-2006, 11:49 PM OK, here is another effective method I just tested.
I think I will be saving e-mail addresses of all the scammers I stumble upon, and will be greeting them daily.
thats hilarious

dr. gixxer 03-27-2007, 08:13 PM it's good to see work going into catching these thieves and scammers, last year i had a roommate who ended up being a crackhead and stole my shotgun, sold it at a local scheels store, and when the cops came to investigate i was at class. went to get a copy of the popo report the next day and nothing about the gun was mentioned, only clothing and electronics. after a month of letting the local popo do the ground work i went out on my own and found it within one day, needless to say, authorities aren't always going to catch these guys, keep it up!

acampinoob 05-22-2007, 08:39 PM My first bike (my GSXR1100) went pretty well. I called the guy and talked to him and heard the bike run. I got the bike like 2 weeks later then I got a second chance offer. I was like WTF???? I had the bike sitting in my garage and some dillbag was trying to sell me my own bike. I played into his little scam for a while and he wanted me to send $3000 in the mail via a check. Then I asked where to mail it to . . . after that I called him a fucktard and reported him to ebay and the police!!!

cigarette_runner 10-08-2007, 06:06 PM Update on the latest ebay scams:
I've paid very close attention to two scammer auctions for 06 GSX-R 1k's in the last month.
They cancel your bid and send an email offering the 06 GSX-R for $3200 from somewhere USA,
completely different than the auction page location. All it takes is to be a believer and you're
guaranteed to be taken.
The first two things you'll notice is a price thats "too good to be true", and bid cancelations.
cigarette_runner 10-09-2007, 05:31 AM The scammer is back http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-GSXR-1000-Illusion-PAINT_W0QQitemZ260169052698QQihZ016QQcategoryZ5002 9QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Update 10-17-07
Scammer listed another auction late last night. This morning it caught my eye.
05 GSX-R 1000 with 650 miles condition like new, I suspected it was him because in the description he listed the price was $2800. I reported it to ebay and upon arriving home this evening the auction had been cancelled.
The score: Scammer - 0 points
cigarette runner - 3 points for 3 auctions shut down
djtohkee 10-11-2007, 12:27 AM I contacted this guy on Craglist because of a good deal and got this reply
"Hello
Thank you for contacting me regarding your willingness to purchase my item the
2002 Yamaha YZF Yamaha R1
I am sorry I didn't reply earlier but I was out on the field and couldn't check my email.
I`m working in a military facility and most of my time I`m out of country.
The bike is stored in a warehouse in Maine and the shipping will be arranged by me and the price includes all the shipping costs and insurance so you will not have to pay any extra charges. The item has a Clear Title witch will come along with it.
The bike it's in excellent condition. It is in perfect condition both mechanically and cosmetically. No damage whatsoever,no scratches or dents, no hidden
defects. It has very little usage. For most of its life, it has been parked in the garage.
I am willing to close the deal with you at $3500 USD price including shipping and handling The shipping will be made by Freight Truck. The package will be crated and insured. You will receive the package directly to your home address in 5-6 working days.
If you agree with this price we can begin to complete the transaction.
For security reasons I want to make this deal through eBay www.ebay.com because this way both seller and buyer are protected
I have made my deals only through them and I think this is the best way to close this deal
I will start a private listing just for you with a "Buy-It-Now" feature. You have to hit the Buy-It-Now button and you will be the winner.
I think this is the fastest, safest and most fair solution we can have.
The payment will be made through Ebay Vehicle Purchase Program and only after you will receive the bike and inspect it, the money will be relased to me.
In this way we are both protected up to $20000.
I'll put the bike on eBay so you can hit the buy-it-now button and purchase it thru eBay .
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to email me.
Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Detailes of the bike:
Miles: 5211
VIN Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The bike is mostly stock. It's got some nice upgrades to it- like the Two Brothers Pipe, flushmount signals and some small stuff- but it's mostly unmolested.
VERY clean- no busted bodywork- nothing scuffed or damaged.
The wheels are polished on the sides and all the way through except the center. It looks AWESOME in the sunlight.
Stunning bike. It's absolutely stunning in person-even more so than the pictures-.It's got brand new tires on it for the new owner.
The tank is flawless rotors are CLEAN- front tire is practically new, rear tire has 10 miles on itTurn signals are aftermarket"
Now one thing I have an advantage that most people don't is that I work at a police department. So one of the fellow officers ran the VIN for me and came up partial match stolen in FL other than that no record.
I hid the vin because the police officer who ran it for me can get in trouble for running a plate for personal use.
cigarette_runner 10-19-2007, 05:00 PM Update 10-19-07
Ebay auction #120173903957
Appears to be another scammer auction for a GSX-R 1000 Custom.
The bike has the $15,000+ look, but in description he says $4200.
Same deal, email him before bidding to arrange.
This time rather than hijack an account he started a new ID so it may not be shut down right away.
I reported it to ebay.
By the way I'm taking delivery of my blue and white K7 tommorow!!!!
Update:
I seem to have a good relationship with ebay's Safe Harbor customer support because once again they shut that auction down right after I brought it to their attention.
Update 10-20-07
Looks like another scammer auction #330178409363
This one would be another hijacked ebay account.
Seller indicates a "buy it now" price of 2.900 which makes absolutely no sense.
Same M.O., wants you to email him before bidding so he can send the email like that shown above in previous post.
Contacted ebay Safe Harbor customer support to report fraud.
Update: Another auction shut down by ebay.
A recomendation to anyone who uses ebay:
Use a very complex password to keep you account from being hacked and potentially hijacked. My password is 49 digits long,
here is an example of a strong password:
hF8Kg57d3HgfGH73FgV5BgK85FdkLxE47FepA5B01AqpC9Ns6
No, you dont have to remember it, simply copy it to a notepad and paste in each time you log in.
A lot of these scammer auctions are using an account with a lot of good positive feedback. They first hack a persons account by figuring out the password, change the email address so the owner does not receive any email and has no knowledge of whats going on. And sets up an auction.

I've heard of a few variations on this recently - and generally they seem to be fairly well done, not much in the way of red flags, which sucks. I just imported a Skyline from Japan via ebay, and damn was that a stressful process - turned out ok, but how the hell do you get things checked from 5000 miles away?
tommygun 11-21-2007, 04:17 PM it's not just e-bay, cycle trader is littered with the same thing.
06 gixxer 1000 $3800. I e-mail the guy,He say's his phone isn't working, He just got married overseas and the bike is with him send the money and he will send the bike.

have to let you know that the Ninja ZX6R is here with me .I am the first
owner of the bike.
Andre
I got into one of those scams recently myself, except the owner was from the US, and had moved to the UK. He claimed that if he brought the bike with him he would have to pay taxes that would be more then he would make just leaving it here, yadda yadda.
Funny thing was, the ebay account was registered 30 minutes from where i live, so i was all about the (Well i will come look at it and let ya know)
Thats when the e-mails got shorter, and I passed.
Buy it now price was $2800.00 USD I believe. Seems the scammers tend to stay around that number, don't ask me why.
I quickly reported that. It's sorry anymore, how careful you have to be on Ebay.
Almost forgot, I see constant auctions with notes further down the page saying somethign to the extent of :
Please don't contact me using ebay mail, I don't check it, please e-mail me at This address : I'madumbass.com, and i will return your mail, etc.. That's a dead giveaway.
fuckenfast750 12-06-2007, 02:19 PM thanks... good info.
Nevaeh Speed 12-27-2007, 06:19 PM Gotta be careful on what you buy.
EasternKentuckyKid 12-29-2007, 04:17 PM I e-mailed image with a text "FUCK YOU SCAMMER" (about 400kb) number of times until I got back error from the server saying that the quota for recepient's mailbox was exceeded.
lol
Blazen244 03-04-2008, 10:10 PM a lot of the scammers don't have answers to tech questions either
CRAIG SIAS 03-16-2008, 01:44 AM Thanks for letting people know.. ftw i have been scammed twice on ebay once a downpipe never came (paypal would not give me my money back) and recently a set of sliders for my bike never came ( has been a month now)
zipzip-a 04-03-2008, 12:58 PM for real you gotta watch out...
i dont use ebay anymore instead i use kijiji.com or something like that lol.
but still, theres scammers on there too... usually what they want is downpayment of atleast 50% before even telling you anything about the bike...
last ad i saw was 2005 i think gsx-r 600 ..... with 300 miles ... for 3500 canadian .. hahaha .... those guys are shoemakers... but the ones who fall for it... i think are even lower then that.
good thing about www.kijiji.com is that you can do regional searches and everythings free to post. plus you dont use paypal, instead its all private dealings. I dont deal with nobody unless they have their number down that i can call them and check it out before any money is even put on the table.
kolled 04-14-2008, 05:55 PM Nice. next time, attach a close-up picture of your asshole or nutsack. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/idea.gif

thepusher 04-15-2008, 11:13 AM I just had this problem with a 06 busa
Puppalucci 05-02-2008, 03:17 PM I saw the same BS scams about 2 years ago and I knew it was bullshit, so I jerked his shit really good. I feed him a little story how my granny gave me 3 grand to buy a bike and how excited I was to find such a great deal on such a sweet bike/price..so then he gave me the recipient name for sending $$ to u.k. (vi9a western union) aand how he was gonna ship it right out. So i buttered it up real good to make him think I was sending$$ for sure with numerous email and crap. This muuterfucker was drooling for the money....then I sent him a fake tracking/sending number...then he'd email saying that they coulndnt find the payment and shit cause he was like 2 hours from the nearest western union out post .....:lol:lol:lol........I jerked that fucker off for 3dayys and then finally dropped the bomb...."You aint gettin shit fucker" That bitch was pissed off... It might have takin about an hour of my time but it was worth every second.:flipoff
MastoJay 05-27-2008, 08:08 PM :cheers
billyblanks 06-24-2008, 11:13 AM I've actually had some good luck with the guys at crashedtoys.com. I know most of the stuff is damaged, but a little work and they're good as new. I'm still riding one I got 2 years ago.
And their stuff is totally honest from what I've seen. They even let you go check their stuff out before buying.
jesse.roper1 07-25-2008, 03:37 AM I wonder if EBay or anyone else actually tracks these scammers IP address and actually goes after these fuck sticks...thats good that there auctions get shut down but then they find a way to re-post....
FirmeGSXR 08-02-2008, 12:41 AM Really good info, but if I was buying a used bike I would want to ride it first! No telling what they have done to it that you can only feel in the ride! I feel bad for the ones who fall for it.
ItSzAngelGSXR 08-02-2008, 03:47 PM Thanks for the heads up
El Senor Dave 08-02-2008, 04:26 PM i bet the cause of the wreck was 'unintended acceleration'.
Thats funny.

Here a scam I came across guy wanted a money order to complete the transaction:wtf.
Explorick 08-27-2008, 10:33 PM FYI:

hope no one here lost one to this guy...
07gixxerfreak 09-29-2008, 06:01 PM I come across these scams on ebay all the time, reporting them is the best thing to do, ebay is pretty good at shutting them down quickly. Once, just for kicks, I emailed the guy some questions about the bike, a Ducati monster, and he emailed me back every time very quickly, giving me the answers that I wanted to hear. So to fuck with the guy a little I said I would buy the bike, I negotiated the price down a little to appear authentic, then told him I would wire the money to him, and what account # did he want it wired to. He emailed me the account # of a bank in Spain, I told him to wait a few days and the money would be there. After three days he emailed me again, asking what happened, he had someone else to buy the bike, yada yada... I told him it would take 3 more days and to just wait, because I really wanted the bike, and basically whatever bullshit I could think of. Then I reported all the info he gave me to that website for electronic scams, I forgot the name of it, and to ebay. Then I sat back and watched as the asshole emailed me for 5 days straight about where was the money, others wanted the bike and it was such a good deal and so on. It was entertaining to say the least. After I had enough, I emailed him back telling him to go screw his Nigerian momma, I dont buy bikes from scammer scumbags, and that I had a private detective relative that lived in spain that was on to him and his game already. needles to say his emails stopped. Now I just report them right away, but that was a fun experience.
rockford4u 10-13-2008, 12:13 AM yes agreed, i do see a lot of them on cycle trader, which i personally think is sucky, have not seen any on craigslist, yet, (actually bought my bike on craigslist, hehehe)
Pretty much the common sense rule of thumb, if is too good to be true and you didnt or dont have to do anything....then its probaly not. Member people, we all have to work and work hard for our money, rare to have things given away or for dirt cheap.
rockford4u 10-13-2008, 12:19 AM you think if payed with payapl, paypal/ebay could retract the payment ot stall it... but i have heard from others paypal will or does little, that is what i thought the pint of paypal was security and or safety.
I try not and dont rally like to pay people that are over seas, unless legit as once they have the money, nothing can be done as internationla laws and bunch of crap....
rockford4u 10-13-2008, 12:22 AM Dam, now i know why the dumb state i live in, (not sure about others, probly the same policy) that I had a PITA transfering the title when i got my bike, so basically the VIN/frame no has to match the Engine no, even so, im sure some parts had uniqe identifiers and that is how he got caught, or someone say a part of theirs online,
the sucky thing is, if someone wants your bike and bad, they will take it, even it it is locked, disc locks, locked colum, few people can lift it which sucks, but alarm might catch someones attention.....
rockford4u 10-13-2008, 12:27 AM the best thing to do is look at their reputation, refering to ebay, if good feedback and huge seller rating, then it has to be legit otherwise it would not exist....
not to beat a dead horse but it is seems to good to be true, it either isnt, or something you didnt expcet or what you did expect is fucked or broke to shit or what not.
McBiker 10-17-2008, 02:52 PM I'll keep the link handy. thx
bret165 10-26-2008, 01:21 PM Same with CL, I just kept flagging them!
djoey 11-20-2008, 11:23 AM I got Jacked on e-Bay as well.
freakin sux :hammer
Ignus99 11-26-2008, 12:38 PM Thanks for the info
pearljam724 12-29-2008, 09:08 PM bought hundreds of things of ebay in past couple of years, including my k8 750 a couple of weeks ago, never had one problem. ive been lucky so far in those regards. however i know how easy and tempting it is for loser crooks out there to be involved in it. its important to do research on each item, especially big items. if you do this, most of the time it should be hassle free. But you watch after me saying that, i recently bought my first international purchase, joe rocket jacket, you watch it'll blow up in my face.
jamescarter 12-30-2008, 06:01 AM Great information , thanks!

hdmyg228 01-14-2009, 11:15 PM Has anyone bought this type of sling shot before that holds the amo in the handle? http://www.liangdianup.com/sporting_1.htm
this company has free shipping to anywhere in the world and they guarantee delivery to Australia. I heard that sling shots
are ok to sell in Australia as long as you say they are being used to toss bait in the water when you go fishing, any truth
to thatone?
gixfreak123 03-20-2009, 03:28 PM I realize that there is a huge market on eBay, but there are plenty of sites out there that are selling bikes. Sites like www.crashedtoys.com have tons of bikes and these are sold by a reputible company, not just some regular Joe off the street.
It's hard to match the selection on eBay, but there are other resources you can use...
