Does it purr?

Is it a constant mechanical rythm with a bupbupbupbupbup exhaust?

bucket full of nuts and bolts or a swiss watch?

I'm wondering because mine sounds rough at idle. I need a new air filter and two carb boots in the middle are ripped slightly, but either or. It would be nice to get some info.

Thanks if you can help

Mine like most of our bikes sounds like a diesel at idle, it is normal...Now when she is at 10K rpm i she sings so sweetly.

your boots can look weather cracked on the outside, small lines and still be ok inside. check/inspect them with the carbs off. at least use some air and blow the filter out backwards.this is not a recomended solution but can help in a pinch. if you can see light through it it should be useable. i'll prob get flamed for the filter thing but a pinch is a pinch, most of us have probably done shadier.

Same deal here..

Theres also a rumble i have when my clutch is out.

You can feel it VERY slightly and hear it when the bikes idling.

Goes away when you pull the clutch in, im not sure if its the tranny rolling around or if a new cam chain tensioner would do me good.

It seems to make alot of noise when i let off the throttle.

I always suggest swapping out the OEM Cam tensioner with with a Manual unit.

Our bikes are just loud until you start to twist the throttle... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I install I manual unit do I have to remove the head to adjust it every two thousand km?

Will a new auto one have the same effect?

Also, where can I get one for the WP?

Actually "box `o nails" was my personal favorite descriptive-phrase. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The water-cooled bikes sound much more refined and smooth at idle than the old oil-cooled mills... mine rattles and has a "lope" to the exhaust note at idle.
