: Bj Penn Vs. GSP #2
love4steel 08-12-2008, 12:16 AM Last time they fought GSP looked like he'd been in a car accident after the first round due to Bj's jab and an uppercut which broke his nose. GSP then outgassed bj in round 2 and 3 and basically pulled a lay and prey for the win. My prediction for #2. Bj Penn FTW. He will be sure to have much better cardio for this one. That being said, as long as Bj does not gas, his ridiculous takedown defense will force a standup battle and he will destroy GSP with his superior boxing. Im seeing a TKO due to referee stoppage (probably a bad cut over GSP's eye):chucks
Recognize408 08-12-2008, 05:00 AM I cant wait for this fight. #2 and #3 overall ranked fighters about to go at it. I want Penn to take it but i cant call it. Both fighters have improved alot, so i dunno. If GSP loses to penn and then fights Silva, which he'll lose to, he might be lookin like his buddy matt hughes.

what Silva are you talking about? the only Silva's that i know of are Anderson an Wanderlei Silva and they arent even in the same weight class
Recognize408 08-12-2008, 06:09 AM GSP wants a fight with Anderson Silva.BJ Penn and GSP arent in the same weight class either.....
love4steel 08-12-2008, 09:01 AM Bj has to go up to 170 to fight GSP. Which kinda sucks for him.
El Senor Dave 08-12-2008, 10:45 AM I see BJ here on the Big Isle and dude is super chill:punk...but I would not want to get in the octagon with him thats for sure.
k6zook1k 08-12-2008, 12:44 PM GSP wants a fight with Anderson Silva.BJ Penn and GSP arent in the same weight class either.....
BJ has been talking about going up a weight class and welcomed GSP's "forced" fight offer to fight him again at UFC 87. Anderson Silva is now a LH and will have some good contenders to face.
DasBaldDog 08-12-2008, 02:24 PM Yeah,
Go ask Hughes about Penn's jab. I think he knows where to find it....
Romulus22 08-12-2008, 04:36 PM Penn fights in welterweight often and i think he has even fought a couple light heavy weights outside of the UFC. St Pierre doesnt stand a chance against Anderson Silva though.
06taco 10-08-2008, 09:39 PM Silva has some of the nastiest Muay Thai skills I have ever seen from a fighter.

really, captian obvious??? :lol
soysauce021 10-09-2008, 02:03 PM this is all speculation right as no offical fight has been confirmed (unless I am missing something). :scratch

nothing yet, this thread is also two months old.
love4steel 01-14-2009, 10:36 PM getting close.. keeping this thread alive. everyone make there predictions!
Lets go PENN!!!!!
Qui3tStorm 01-14-2009, 11:25 PM I hope BJ takes it
k6zook1k 01-15-2009, 08:23 AM Both are awesome fighters, its tough to tell, I think GSP has the better chance of winning, but I'm routin for Penn.
_KneeDragr 01-20-2009, 06:41 PM GSP by just being too big and strong.
Im more excited about GSP vs Thiago Alves after this - that should be a war.

sean sherk was strong as shit, maybe its the roids. and penn exposed him....bad!

GSP broke down and beat up a fully roided Sherk long before that. And GSP has also improved vastly since then.
Believe what you want, but unless BJ tricks GSP into a sub, he will just get manhandled and lose a lopsided decision.
ACOMA 01-21-2009, 02:42 PM I want Penn to win.

I've already stated that I think GSP will win but i'm routin for Penn. Honestly its anyones game. I'm still baffled about Matt Serra having the belt for a very short period.
Buster Hymen 01-21-2009, 03:40 PM Penn seems to slacking on his training a bit..................we'll see if he gases out.
Go George...............:punk

unless your his personal trainer I wouldnt believe it.
soysauce021 01-23-2009, 02:25 PM unless your his personal trainer I wouldnt believe it.
Agreed. I think he took some time off to hang out at the beach or something similar and people are making it into a big deal. :dissapointed It's just like any other type of training (weights, sports, etc) sometimes its good to take a week off and not think about training, refocus and hit the gym again. And in all actuality most of the time, you'll come back stronger ;)
And BJ beat Sherk with his reach. His jab was untouchable and Sherk just couldnt get inside. He picked apart Sherk. He wont have that advantage with GSP. Should be a great fight either way. Pulling for BJ but like Zook...I think GSP will take it.
love4steel 01-26-2009, 07:54 PM GSP by just being too big and strong.

psycho beats muscle. Bj's brother called it..GSP is an athlete, and BJ is a fighter. GSP tapped from strikes despite his excellent physical conditioning.. if the mind quits, the body will follow.:burnout
gsxr_paul 01-27-2009, 01:17 PM Hoping Penn wins this one, but it should be a battle.
ministroker214 01-31-2009, 06:20 PM Bj has to go up to 170 to fight GSP. Which kinda sucks for him.
not really seeing he walks around at 165-70, GSP is the one that has to work hard to lose the weight. and Anderson Silva is too good for either of them, it would take alot for Bj to gain that, but GSP walks around at that weight when hes not training. all around its going to be an awsome fight.
Buster Hymen 02-01-2009, 12:31 AM Total & Utter Domination................good fight(I mean beatdown).:punk

Looks like you were wrong, muscle won!
BJ quit this time.
love4steel 02-01-2009, 10:20 AM :thumbupLooks like you were wrong, muscle won!

that funny, in the fight i watched, bj's corner stopped it for him cuz they knew he'd keep going out there and taking punishment at that point. big difference. bj had plenty of chances to tap from strikes on the ground like gsp did in the serra fight. it was a horrible fight. Im shocked at how dominating GSP was over BJ. That guy (gsp) can wrestle better that anyone in MMA. The whole fight card sucked last night. I was bored up to the BJ fight, then disappointed. All this for $45 bucks
BrazilJiuGixxu 02-01-2009, 10:50 AM :thumbup

Ya, my thoughts exactly. I was pretty bummed too. I like both guys, but really wanted BJ to get the win.

I paid my $45 and was totally satisfied..................the better fighter won.

gsxr_paul 02-01-2009, 12:41 PM Disappointed BJ lost, but GSP seemed pretty good last night.
GSP was a MACHINE. Nothing stopped the guy at all and he didn't even seem tired...
love4steel 02-01-2009, 01:33 PM haha.. the two canadians are talking alot of shit now.
:lol
gsxr_paul 02-01-2009, 01:50 PM I think if Thiago doesn't have any issues making weight GSP is in trouble.

Thats what I said on the original thread - that there is no sense getting all up for this fight because the real war will be Alves vs GSP. That guy is a beast and he matches up really well with GSP. His only weakness is his chin - he can get knocked out. He is probably the only 170lb UFC fighter that can match GSP strength ( not his wrestling, but raw strength yes ).
Maybe in Canadia it is... but in Good OL USA we spell it correctly.... alot of the time that is.:scratch
Know Im sayin?
No ... because you're still wrong. There is no such thing as the word "alot" :)

As for the me "talking shit" ... I've been a huge GSP fan because he dominates fights and Penn needed his ass kicked to deflate an already over inflated ego.
GSP and Silva ... that would be an awesome fight to watch :)
_KneeDragr 02-02-2009, 05:53 AM Man these Canadians are spelling Nazi's, lol.
k6zook1k 02-02-2009, 08:31 AM I wouldnt say muscle won, GSP used great technique and took down BJ repeatedly. Penn was in a daze from round 2-4. GSP had the faster strikes and looked great. Penn was dreaming about Hawaii.
Saphire 02-02-2009, 08:41 AM I have to agree.. BJ just kinda gave up and got his ass beat..
was also disappointed with the Diaz & Guida fight.. was hoping Diaz would take it :dunno
k6zook1k 02-02-2009, 08:48 AM Guida's burps between rounds was fcking halarious :lol he brought a lot of energy to the ring.... but I dont think I have ever seen him KO anybody though. Nate just comes off like a punk ass. But he has good ground game.

alot of ppl don't like Diaz cuz of his attitude.. but he's a good fighter.. and I like him..I think he would of did alot better if Guida would of quit hugging him :lol .. Diaz kept looking at his corner, like wtf am I suppose to do.. hahaha..

dont like those Diaz bothers...:biggrin
MotoMummy 02-02-2009, 09:55 AM It was a great fight...gsp purely dominated in every aspect.
I'm shocked you guys pay 45 to watch it live though...3 letters. tvu
Saphire 02-02-2009, 10:08 AM dont like those Diaz bothers...:biggrin
a lot of ppl don't.. but I like them.... :dunno they can back up the bullshit they talk..
BrazilJiuGixxu 02-02-2009, 02:29 PM I'm shocked you guys pay 45 to watch it live though...3 letters. tvu
And this is why Im NOT shocked at the price of PPV's and how little money fighters make. Thanks alot you PIRATE!!!:flipoff
MotoMummy 02-02-2009, 02:38 PM online tv has been around forever and they have ads in them and the works. In time all tv will be online at the rate things are evolving.
how little fighters make is determined by supply/demand. There are more guys that can fight then run a football like people were in the super bowl. There are more guys that can fight then can play ball like nba players. Every joe schmo wants to get into mma right now and wrestling, jiu jitsu, judo, karate, and every other martial arts can get in on it. There is a larger supply of fighters then demand which will determine a lot. Also just think that nfl, nba, and nearly every other sport pays millions per player and you don't pay jack to see it...funny how they do it but the ufc doesn't/can't? You don't pay to watch ama races either or most every sport.
Not to mention that in this sport the main event can last 10 seconds and people pay 50 for it. or you can watch any other pro sport and know you get hours of watching it even if it's a blow out and it's free because they have sponsors. If ufc was smart they would get sponsors/ads and try and get it on mainstream tv and let the ads/businesses do the paying and not the viewers. Even if the viewers doubled do you think the ufc would tell the fighters that and pay them more? Not when fighters are lining up to get in on it...supply/demand is what it's about.
Not too mention the fact that I think ufc payouts are great and other sports pay too much. imo all sports figures are way overpaid. no nfl/nba player should be making millions when teachers/cops/military are lucky to start at 40k a year. As long as teachers/cops/military, etc are making so little in comparison it would be a tough pitch to get me to believe they are underpaid at making 6 figures+ doing what they love.
love4steel 02-02-2009, 03:17 PM Guida's burps between rounds was fcking halarious :lol
Me and my boys were ROLLING at guida's burps between rounds... glad someone else caught that. Other than that his fighting style is beginning to annoy me ...he does wayyyy too much hugging. He moves around alot to throw off the fact that all he's doing is a typical lay and pray.
MotoMummy 02-02-2009, 03:32 PM .he does wayyyy too much hugging.
+10
BrazilJiuGixxu 02-02-2009, 10:34 PM Motomummy....... FRAT!!!
