: What are you favorite Olympic events?
torquemaniac 08-10-2008, 06:18 AM I'm partial to the men's team handball and badminton. Those are the events I had tickets to when the games were held in ATL. Women's volleyball and beach volleyball are pretty good, too.
So, what are your favs?
Suzuki Duke 08-10-2008, 10:25 AM In general, I just love the Olympics. The thought of the whole world sending their best to compete and forget about the other political bs for a bit really brings out the idealist in me. Yeah that has been tainted plenty of times with terrorist acts (before my lifetime) boycotts, and war during the games, but still.
My grandfather was supposedly bound for the Olympics as a rower in 1940, but that got interrupted.
As a triathlete, I get excited about the Tri, and the running/cycling/swimming events since I've been active in them. Back in 2001 I was training in hopes of making the trials for this year's olympics, but a stress fracture ended those thoughts.
Women's beach volleyball is my favorite to watch though :drool
I'll probably be watching the games almost every chance I get, no matter what's on.

Wrestling, gymnastics, track, and diving.

wow, i think i found the 1 person in the USA that actually likes badminton!
usually, people laugh at me when i tell them i play badminton to stay in shape. most of North America don't understand the game and think it's a backyard game.
i watch anything that is showing. rowing, volleyball, anything and everything.
Jeremy06GSXR600 08-10-2008, 04:36 PM I'll watch pretty much anything on the Olympics (except curling LOL!). As far as the summer games go, any of the track and field events (in particular sprinting), gymnastics (men and women), diving, and women's volley ball especially.
postulio4joo 08-10-2008, 04:45 PM i like watching everything also but out of everything womens/mens diving
easter bunny 08-10-2008, 07:41 PM I like women's beach volleyball for the obvious reasons. (did anybody see the greek team today? OMG  )
Diving is prob my favorite event, but it's just so cool to see all the sports you don't normally get on TV. Like the waterpolo match I watched today.

If it wasn't for my stupid knee injury, I'd be competing for a chance to be in the next winter olympics... Might still try to if my knee has healed up enough.
I'm all about the girl's Volleyball this year.

Daimian 08-11-2008, 08:41 AM Curling But I think thats only a winter event. Seriously how is this an olympic sport. it's like shuffle board with some janitorial work thrown in
torquemaniac 08-11-2008, 11:29 AM I think I'm becoming addicted to the Olympics.
Watching women's(of course!) water polo right now.
Stayed up 'til 4am watching the women's gymnastics.

+1
some of the track & field events are cool. BMX will be neet to see. Mostly anything that america kicks ass in.
wtchtwr 08-11-2008, 01:28 PM Did anyone catch the mens 400 freestyle relay?
The French team said they were going to smash the americans. Needless to say the Americans won and the frenchies weren't saying much.
What a great race, broke the world record by 4 SECONDS!!!!
Beer pong...... Oh that's not an event yet? :cheers
JonRags 08-11-2008, 01:54 PM Any Cycling (shocking huh?), swimming, sailing, diving, volleyball, some gymnastics, some track and field. But overall I just watch it for the spectacle of the event. I may not be a fan of the event, but it's still on.
