I've been to the country Georgia. it is a shit hole in every sense of the word. If you've ever seen Behind Enemy Lines with Gene Hackman and Luke wilson, the scene where wilson is running through the town and the buildings look half demolished, this is what the town of Poti, Georgia looked like. I was there just after they joined the UN and we were there to start U.S.-Georgia relations. one thing can say about them is them fuckers can drink!!! I was fucked up by lunch time on one of their navy ships. between 15 of us we went through 19 bottles of wine, in an hour. when they do a toast, it isn't just a sip of the glass, you have to down it in one swoop. I was so drunk after that we went into town and I was chasing the cows and chickens on the beach. just google USS Nashville in Georgia and you can read about why we were there.

Not Only is Putin controlling it live from the Olympics but he's already been talking to Gee Dub about it there as well. Here we go again...

They know better than to mess with all those foos from the ATL!!! But....if we were to lose the state of Georgia I think the collective IQ of the US would rise while the mean rate of obesity would subsequently fall. .....no disrepect....I'm jus sayin....

Just FYI, your views of GA, are just as twisted as their views of Cali. To them Cali is nothing but freaks, homos, and gangbangers. MOSTLY nothing but homos though

And the entire state looks like holywood, LA, and San Fran.

Yeah...I know...my neighbor from across the street is from ATL...we joke around a lot. He's a hard-core southern boy!! Wears Univ. of GA gear all the time....(even though ...I could be wrong....but isn't UofGA in Athens?). I'm jus fooling man. :cheers Id actually love to see the South for real...never had a chance to travel down there and would love to see it some day.

yeah its in athens. But athens isnt far from ATL, and you are either a UGA fan, a Ga tech fan....... or an outcast as a Gator or Seminole fan, if you live around here :lol

But it seriously amazes me just how clueless (in general) both sides are about the stereotypes :lol.... concidering I lived on both coasts. I usually just :rolleyes :laugh

For the short time I was in ATL here's my take

GA vs. CA -
better weather in CA
GA people are definitely friendlier (Southern hospitality is a real thing)
GA is slooooower paced
Girls are so subjective as that is on your personal taste - for me it is a tie. There are definitely some cuties out that way.
Definitely a culture shock and a lot of people are still a bit closed minded about certain aspects in GA.
Less hippies in GA :lol

That said CA is the place for me still. :cheers

I'm already pretty laid back, so I think if I lived in GA I would like the laid back attitude that seems to come with the South.

Now is that "laid back" attitude a misconception?

no, not really.

Although pace is starting to pick up some, just depends on where you are really. pace of life is slower for sure

I'm already in a small town....it's pretty laid back here...but I could picture myself sittin on a porch somewhere down there with a cooler full of beer. Maybe I'll read "Gone With the Wind" again (alltime fav. book!! Rhett Butler is tha man!!!).

I'd miss the beach though. We live about a mile away.

I lived in Columbus(Ft Benning) and Alabama(Ft McClelland). The only complaint is the damn humidity. But other than that I had pretty damn good time .:punk

My how minds wander...I thought this was a thread about the Caucus nation of Georgia not CA vs GA.

I lived in the region in the 90's and the quality of life post Soviet era was very poor. Hopefully this can be mediated quickly to avoid further loss of life.

From what I was reading they were in pretty bad shape before, but now they're totally bombed into oblivion.

to get it out of the way...Sweetwater 420 is one of the best brews around.
next...to maybe get a peek inside the brilliance of some people...
this is a 100% true thing that happened to me.

i was out to eat with a few friends and we were sitting at the bar watching the olympics on one tv and another tv was cnn and it had the news of Russia vs. Georgia.
well this bartender runs up to us and is like "if you guys know anyone in georgia you better call them and tell them to get out while they can."
we all just looked at each other and i go ' you know georgia is on the other side of the world and is a country.'
he look at me and goes, ' are you serious? dude, georgia is in the south, atlanta is the capital, ya know! its georgia!'
so we all just looked at each other and stayed as serious as we could be and started freaking out and acting like we had family in georgia and that maybe russia would go after florida or the carolinas next...

ive never laughed so hard in my entire life..

It's definitely good stuff. :yumyum Not sure if they still have it but we did a tour which was a couple dollars and included 2 beers. :punk I had the 420 and a 9% beer (forgot the name) that was pretty tasty as well.
