Does any one know a website or can give me detail instructions for removing a

motor from a 93 gsxr 750.

I am trying to save money on a tranny swap by pulling the motor myself.

thanks,
J

Go buy a shop manual........ there are cheap copies of my hard work all over ebay now.

It's a big hassle, and probably worth whatever they charge. But if you must do it, I'm sure you could pick up a shop manual cd from someone around here. Here's the general, if you want to wing it:

1. remove fairings, tank
2. pull radiator assembly, thermostat, etc.
3. remove exhaust
4. disconnect all wiring from connectors on the chassis, noting routing, and what does what
5. disconnect carburetor cables
5.5 remove fresh air ductwork, and pull plug wires, noting which cylinders they go to (masking tape works well.)
6. remove carburetor bank, leaving airbox in frame, loose
7. support engine
8. remove lower frame cradle
9. loosen all the rest of the bolts
9.5 get two strong friends to help at this point
10. the big bolts at the back of the engine do all the work. remove them carefully, while supporting the engine.
11. note position of spacer that falls out from lower bolt.
12. angle and lift the engine out over the lower frame lug. swearing seems to help, as does lots of beer.

Now, this is only intended to tell you what's involved, purely off the top of my head. If something goes wrong because of what I've said here, it's because you believed something you read in the internet.

That said, maybe some others in here can fill in the things I missed.

Installation, as they say, is the reverse of removal (I've always wanted to say that!)

Oh, I've just found the first thing I left out-

I spent approx. $600 just on OEM replacement parts when I rebuilt my transmission last winter. The average cost at a shop will be anywhere from $1500 - $2000 depending on what's wrong with yours exactly, and the going labor-rate in your area. It is a lot of work, and you'll need someone there to help with the engine because they weigh about 200lbs.

Shop manuals are available for download at the http://www.oldskoolsuzuki.info website.

Luck be have it, I found a used transmission. So it will only be a swap, any ideas on how much that would cost, if i remove everything but the engine. ( exhaust, carbs, body work)

Money is running like water into this bike... Its like a bad love affair... Takes a lot of cash to keep going but its all worth it for that one good ride http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

thx, to everyone for all the help....
