In a series of articles in the local newspapers recently, L.A. County Supervisor Mike Antonovitch has expressed concern over a recent automible accident up on Glendora Mountain Road, that took the life of a local 19 year old. In the articles, he is quoted as saying that he is conducting an investigation into the impact of closing the road permanantly to all public traffic!!!
Local residents along with the parents of the dead teen are urging both the Supervisor, and the CHP to take action before another life is lost.
Basically what I see here is another example of the few, ruining something for the rest. I have been riding GMR on Sunday mornings for the last 3 weekends, and I must say its been pretty tame as far as car traffic. I'm also smart enough to just go up there and enjoy the ride, instead of trying to set land speed records.
Its a shame with ACH now being a CHP sub-station, and the imminant closing of GMR, the responsible riders are left with very few local rides.
I would encourage some sort of action to urge the continual opening of GMR, but I do believe its fate was sealed when the 19 year old kid took the plunge over the edge. Guess its time to get a map of Palomar!

Well they finally decided to leave it open for use. But in an article published yesterday, the CHP noted that they will imediately start blanket coverage of the road in conjunction with local police, the sherrifs dept, and the forestry dept. This announcement comes on the heels of yet another accident in which the teenage driver of a surbabn misjudged the road width and drove her SUV off the side, and 300 feet down the hill. The CHP is warning that the will enforce the law to the extreme and will use every tool available including the impounding of vehicles of those caught violating the law. So basically GMR has just turned into the newest CHP sub-station. Isnt it great to know that regular crime is so low, that law enforcement can afford to have units parked on the side of mountain roads waiting for a sppeder to pass.
So much for the quiet fun that was GMR.

Fuggin cagers....welp, at least I got to ride up there a couple of years ago, before all the bike and cage traffic hit.....It is too bad that a fun road like GMR has to go to waste though http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Oh well, I guess that's why they invented tracks... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
