i am going to try some michelin tires pretty soon and have a question about them
do you have to adjust your fork height or something like that as i know that the front tire profile is a little higher in the middle than pirelli etc
i never knew of something like that but noticed it at the track this sunday
it was a guy that was running michelins and mounted a new set of pirellis and had to do that

some info on this
thanks

Yes, you'll have to adjust your front end for the tires or it will steer like a truck. I had to raise my fork tubes 5mm in the triples (lowered the front end) to compensate when switching from Pirelli to Michelin. It's not difficult to do, you and a buddy can do it yourselves or you can probably pay someone to do it for you. I paid a trackside suspension guy to measure and set it while I was getting some other work done.

sannee you should have 8 to 10 mm of tube showing on top. if you already have that dont do anything

For an 02 gsxr 600, how much tube is showing on top when the forks are stock?

I have stock forks with .90kg/mm springs and my rear (stock shock) is raised 10mm. I'm currently running pirelli's but I am planning on giving michelins a try soon. Currently my forks are raised 3mm through the triples (again, I'm not sure what stock is). Does 8-10mm showing make sense for my setup as well?

Since my forks have not been extended, my concern is that by raising them too much through the triples I will be loading the front too much.

I realize this topic has been talked about many many times, but it seems like most people who are posting numbers have had their forks extended. It is not in my budget to do that just yet..

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

stock fork height is 5mm showing above triples. if the bike feels good then leave it, if you get the chance pull the forks up 5mm higher for a session, and then drop them to being flush.. you will feel a huge difference in the handling and youll get a feel for what the differences are.. then you can set it up to what feels best for you.

yeah mich's are the shit - i switch from pirelli to them last season. I didn't touch the suspension and i found it fine - the steeper profile allows for easier tipping in and i would say that if you lower the front even frther your goin to find it way to twitchy- put em on and you will see what i mean about the thing just lovin the turns - they are the shit! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
