I have a 2001 GSX-R 600. When it is under full throttle and it reaches about 10k rpms it will sometimes jerk like the wheel breaks loose for a secon or maybe the engine stutters. Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this if it is the engine stuttering? I thought the chaing might be slipping because of a worn sprocket but the back one looks good and the front sprocket is in good shape too. Any ideas?

tough to say really. how many miles are on the bike? what gear are you in when it happens?

In the lower gears usually 2nd or 3rd.

from what you have described it sounds like it could be a bad second gear. there havent been many 600's with this problem. it was mostly a 2000 750 problem, but the skipping sensation you are having is the symptoms of your gears not staying properly engaged. i could be wrong. check your chain and sprockets for proper tension and wear. and if they are in fact ok, then id be willing to bet your tranny is messed up. do a search on the tranny problem in this forum and you will find a plethera of information.

just to give you a better idea of the tranny prob - it feels as tho the chain jumps a link , a loss of drive for a second, usually when your rolling on at the higher revs
