Pulled out the fuel pump, but where is the fuel filter located on it?

was there not a screen sticking up off the pump. I know there is on the 96-00 bikes. Havnt had the tank apart on my 03 yet. Also there is sometimes one where the fuel line connects to the carb/throttle bodies. it is actually inside the hose.

You have to seperate the pump. the metal housing -- the part that mounts up to the tank and is visible from outside the tank - comes apart from the remainder of the pump. See the two rails on either side of the pump. That's where the pump pulls apart.

You'll need to disconnect:

The three leads to the base of the pump (tiny little silver nuts & washers)
The two screws securing the rails to the pump. One of these two screws also secures another electrical lead.

Then:

Pull the thing apart. It won't want to come easily. But as long as you're sure you've disconnected everything, you're safe. When it does come apart, you'll see the filter, which sits inside the base you disconnected the pump from.

I'll post instructions to put it back together (requires an extra step) tomorrow. In the middle of dinner right now http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Holy sh_t, what a procedure, just to inspect/replace such a routine thing. I thought it would be inside there somewhere. Had the pump out last winter, but was not daring enough to rip it apart in search of a filter. I'll do it this year though, in light of the fact that I got a 2000 ... it probably is OK, but like everything else on the bike I'll go through completely ... just don't want any kind of trouble during our short riding season in Canada. thanks for your help.

To replace the filters on a 2k 600, will it be the same as you described?
